Really? That's interesting. I volunteer at a museum all the time, and I haven't heard any mention of this as being inappropriate (the volunteers use specific tribe names, actually). From what I know, it's really just historically incorrect, not offensive.

My apologies Whitefang, let me post this and my piece is done

"While still in use in parts of Europe, the usage "Red Indian" is offensive to many, and archaic in the United States and Canada."

Please take it up on Wikipedia if you or anyone think this is wrong.

JimButcher, thanks for the proper list. At first I thought Spaceman was a weird one, why not astronaut? But seeing the full pic, it is much more of a '50s sci-fi spaceman, making him very wanted by me.

The cowboy is pretty interesting too. Someone compared him to Indy, and it's a good comparison. This isn't a '50s image of a cowboy, but a grittier Jesse James style. Interesting.

These are somewhat anachronistic figures, but should inspire some interesting mods. I'd love to see a full "Quest for Fire" MOC.

I will like to said it again, and I really hope you guys don't dillute this discussion with the above anymore. I have read through the content and adjusted the reference name in the poll accordingly. I do not want to see this discussion to change it to something irrelevant.

Thanks.

Thanks def for re-posting these images in this topic.

It's good to see the full scale minifig image and its accessories. The caveman certainly looks so much better with its printed legs and cub.

I would really like to collect them all but are they just avaliable in lego stores on certain days?

No one knows for certain. You can follow this discussion over here.

Umm the caveman doesn't have a printed club...

That's a great and very interesting topic, WhiteFang!

This was really hard to vote since the most of these minifigs are great!

As an old Western fan I of course voted for the

Cowboy

but not only because it is a Western theme related minifigure but even because imo it's one of the best designed and realisitic looking minifigs.

My second vote would be the cheer leader and my third vote the nurse.

Oh, why must you make me choose? :pir_bawling:

All of them are excellent, in fact, the only one I wouldn't mind having is #6, if only because I'm going to get more than enough divers from the Atlantis sets I buy.

I really like #s 4, 8, 12 and 14, but if I had to pick just one...

I'd pick the spaceman.

I'm a little confused by the popularity of the cheerleader... is it just because in real life, she would be a cute girl? Otherwise I don't see anything special about her... she isn't a remake of a really old minifig, like the forestman or the cowboy or the native American... she isn't something you never thought Lego would ever do, like the zombie or the wrestler or the robot... she's just a cheerleader. I never even thought the Lego sport themes were that great.

Well, to be fair, I never thought LEGO would ever produce a cheerleader

I understand your reasoning. That's why I voted for wrestler, even though I don't like wrestling. The fig looks great and it's just something I NEVER would have expected from LEGO in a zillion years.

Maybe there's a secret contingent of 'Bring It On' fans amongst the AFOL community.

G'day folks just found this page on Brickshelf.

Brickshelf page

We have characters with new tools and printing even on the legs too.

Not to forget about new hair pieces as well.

Oh, yeah in the new tools area how about a new ray gun !

Beats the old one still in use after 30 years !!!

Oh my, just thinking about the exciting new scenes to create is getting me excited. A whole team of cheerleaders? A circus? [Hey, think clown goes with the carousel set]... I like the new accessories too, like pom poms, nurse's clipboard and not to mention all the new hair styles (is that a new hair on the nurse?).

Hope they are not too expensive where I am! 2010 is looking to be (another) expensive year already.

I'm a female AFOL and I'm all for the cheerleader... I think my town needs more female figs! [but I voted for the clown cos it makes me laugh. ]

I just have to say this... "Save the cheerleader, save the world"?

Oh I hope they will sell them here, so I wont have to get them off bricklink or something like that. They are all great, but I really like the caveman, I could buld som prehistoric scene with that...

There are some great figs here, but I think the Caveman stands out by miles. Incidentally, a Lego caveman isn't completely new - there was a Duplo caveman series a couple of years ago.

What will be interesting to see is if any of these figures will be produced in smaller numbers to increase their rarity. Manufacturers normally seem to do that when they're selling items like this. I think the clown will be the one that noone can find.

Really psyched for these little guys.

Amazingly, my wife doesn't seem to mind the idea of me picking these up for myself and my son everytime we go shopping! Now I just need to hope they sell them in my area.

I like the (13) Rocker's hair piece and the (12) Robot also looks cool. Where might one

get one of these figures? Are they only available in Lego Land or something? How much will

they cost, also?
