Star Wars X-mas Contest 2009

The 2009 Star Wars Xmas Contest.

There are 3 categories to participate in:

Xmas Landspeeder:

• Build an Xmas landspeeder
  
• Custom minifigs and accessories allowed (Brickforge, Brickarms and so forth).
  
• Entry has to be a new MOC.
  
• Entry must be Star Wars themed
  
• Entry must be in the holiday spirit
  
• No clone brand parts (megablocks, blocko and so forth).
  

Xmas Vignette:

• Build a 16x16 vignette - no overhang
  
• Custom minifigs and accessories allowed (Brickforge, Brickarms and so forth).
  
• Entry has to be a new MOC.
  
• Entry must be Star Wars themed
  
• Entry must be in the holiday spirit
  
• No clone brand parts (megablocks, blocko and so forth).
  

Xmasificator

• Xmasify an official LEGO Star Wars set.
  
• Entry must be in the holiday spirit
  

General rules:

• Only one entry per member per category.
  
• Entrants must have joined before 22nd of November 2009
  
• Max 5 pictures from different angles
  
• Please include a link to off-site folder with more pics or higher resolution pictures (optional).
  
• Max picture resolution is 800x600.
  
• 'Real' entries only - no digital entries.
  

Contest ends on 30th of December 2009 at 2100 CET.

• Entries posted after the deadline are disqualified.
  
• Entries that doesn't live up to the rules after the deadline are disqualified.
  
• All entries will be indexed - this does not mean they are qualified or 'good' enough.
  
• All entries are considered WIP's (work in progress). An entry can be changed as many times as the poster wishes before the deadline.
  
• All entries are to be posted as individual topics with the following in the topic's subtitle: "Xmas 2009 followed by category Landspeeder or Vignette or Xmasificator"
  
• When the deadline has been reached a vote topic for the qualified entries will be made.
  
• More on the vote rules when that time comes.
  
• Comments and suggestions on entries are more than welcome.
  

What are the prizes?

Well there's at least one EB stormie up for each category's winner.

And we'll dig in and see what we can find for 2nd and 3rd place.

This will surely be interesting. I may or (more likely) may not enter, but I have one question:

To Xmasify an official set, can you just re-color parts of that set, while still using the correct parts? Or would that no longer be an 'official' set? Example; Replace a black 2x4 brick with a red 2x4 brick in the set.

By landspeeder, do you mean Luke's Landspeeder or any kind of speeder? (EDIT: cralegoboy beat to it.) Do speederbikes count? How about Podracers?

For the third category, are we allowed to modify the official set or should we just add stuff on to it? If can modify it, to which extend?

Do the entries have to be minifig-scale?

Well I made a really good landspeeder a few months ago. I never shared it because my photography always brings the MOC down. I might try one of these..

I could really go an Xmasify a set real well... but I kind of don't want to buy anything new or ruin anything old.

Yes, recoloring a set in, holiday colors, would qualify as “holiday spirit.”

After looking over the descriptions of Landspeeders, Airspeeders, Speeder Bikes, and Swoops on Wookiepedia…Yes, we are referring to the Landspeeders, which are similar to Luke’s Landspeeder. Speeder Bikes do not count. Pod Racers do not count.

I think this depends on your description of the word ‘modify.’ If you have a specific question, feel free to PM KimT or myself and we will get back to you.

Nope, they do not have to be minifig scaled.

Nope, the directions say, “Build a 16x16 vignette - no overhang.”

“Only one entry per member per category.” There are three categories, and you can make one entry per category. Therefore, you can make an entry for each category. That gives you a total of three entries!

Adding stuff and removing stuff is modifying which is allowed.

To which extend? Not soo much that the set changes into another set or becomes unrecognizable (?).

The voters will judge wether or not you overdid the modding.

Go ahead and add some colourfull reindeer sculptures to the walls of Cloud City and a X-mas party inside the UCS Millenium Falcon.
