The ECS-17 Moth Starfighter is a blindingly fast and heavily armed one-man ship from the same manufacturer as the CW-1 Dragonfly Gunship and using many of the same components.

Like the Dragonfly, the ship is capable of VTOL operations.

Mounting no less than 8 medium plasma cannon and two small concussion missile launchers, the Moth is a deadly opponent in combat, although it has a complete lack of any kind of shield and only light armour plating.

The Moth is equipped with four heavy thrust Magnadyne Engines, four smaller secondary thrusters and four VTOL boosters - two on each side.

The Moth also features a unique control mechanism - there are no control sticks or buttons, the pilot simply interacts with electro-magnetic fields generated inside the cockpit to operate the craft, allowing for instant reactions from the thrusters with every slight movement from the pilot. This can be disconcerting for new pilots unused to having to instruct the computer that they are merely picking their nose, not intending for maximum boost.

Some Moths have inevitably found their way into the hands of private collectors or thrill-seekers, not to mention the criminal fraternity.

Great moc! I love how you found a use for the purple engine peices

Hello!

That's an unusual design. But it turned out very well with all the curved and rounded smooth elements! The rotating thrusters are a nice tuch, well thought out. :classic:

Cheers,

This is certainly clever and very unique design!

It is not a common to see something like this, and it looks good!

I also like the controlling mechanism, very cool!

Color is also very good!

I really like this.

The purple adds a lot to the overall design.

The overall ship is very good and is a very original design.

Love the fighter and the backstory. Really unusual design, but it works. :classic:

Love the line "This can be disconcerting for new pilots unused to having to instruct the computer that they are merely picking their nose, not intending for maximum boost."

I'd like to see more like this.

Wow.

You make "boxy" look good. Really good. I have to agree with Legostein; the rotating thrusters look great from any angle. I am amazed at how well the purple specialty pieces fit in; they don't at all look like they were just stuck on at the end (which is what happens to me whenever I try using them).

I wonder if there are any other colour combinations that could be constructed from this design?

Very nice Dr. S! I love the prurple and black colour scheme to it and it certainly looks like its namesake. The technic engine design I have to say really works and I love the moving engine/gun function. However I think it is a little compact too, making it seem very squarish. Perhaps if the connections to the "wings" was a bit longer?

Great design, love the use of the purple parts. This craft remines me of B5 and it's Star Fury's !

Very unique design, I've never seen those purple pieces before but this is a useful application. I really like the small compact size, and very interesting backstory.

Compact was the aim - I think lengthening the distance would cause it to be more unstable, as a build.

I was also trying to partly emulate the appearance of the Dragonfly (referenced in the opening post).

Very cool creation Doctor Sinister :wub:

I love all the purple!

It's nicely built aswell!

The way to control it is very cool, so is the backstory.

Really well done with this!

Fair enough, I can understand from a construction point-of-view. Though I still think it is a little bit too compact I appreciate it a bit more from the visual similarities with the Dragonfly.

SNOT, SNOT, SNOT!!

What I like with many of the spaceship builders out there is just the above fact.

Always nice to see other colours than the ones that is more traditional.

The engines looks very good, and the fact that they are turning just remembers me of Firefly (again).

The ship is a bit to short for my taste, otherwise very good.
