lightningtiger Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 I know I started designing a WIP of a tyre dealership, but this morning I totally redesigned it and here it is. This corner plate attaches to the service station. The mechanic says 'G'day'. Got the jack, now where's that flat tyre? Don't worry the mallet by the computer is for bad customers, are you one ? Mechanic balancing a tyre. Comments welcomed. Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Very reminiscent of Classic Town. It reminds me of the old Exxon station. I especially like the use of the roll-down garage door. My only suggestion is perhaps using a few extra pieces to fill up your baseplate - like a tree, some flowers, maybe a bench, lamp-pole, etc. - oh, and maybe a large jack (unless that's one hiding in the garage). Rick Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 (edited) As TheBrickster said: indeed very classic town looking. Nice little building. I'd try to make the big yellow jack 3- or even 2-wide. 4-wide seems a little too much. Edited December 3, 2009 by Rick Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 (edited) This is an awesome City MOC(set), lightningtiger! I really it! It looks absolutely realistic and is built in a very lovely classic style although combined with modern aspects and elements! Imo it looks even much better than the current official Garage and Gas Station. The only thing I miss is a classic small 4-wide car and a second minifig - then it would make a perfect official set! The most I like that you built it closed but with open backwalls and a roller gate. Very, very well done! Klaus-Dieter Edited December 3, 2009 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 3, 2009 Author Posted December 3, 2009 Thanks for the feedback, I am glad you all like it. This is actually joining the service station with another flower bed on the cards, plus a tyre stack and the hardest thing of all - a battery merchandiser - how I wish for a few old 377 sticker sheets with the battery one on them. Yes, I was going for that classic town look, as in it's distance past it was a service station. I'll be posting my town entrance or gateway into the town centre shortly. The jack, I'll try and make it 2 or 3 wide if I can, Rick. By the way has anyone tried what I did with the rollerdoor on any other building ? Again for the positive feedback, it is very much appreicated thank you. Quote
Milan Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Excellent work, man! I agree about some customer with his car...also, you could out more different sized tires! Quote
peterab Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 By the way has anyone tried what I did with the rollerdoor on any other building ? It goes forward into the car port doesn't it? I didn't notice it till I took a second look because of your comment. I've never seen it done before, but I like it. Very clever. Quote
LegoLink Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Fantastic, I can just smell that rubber! Great techniques ,but my only down side is the fact that the tires still have wheels in them which seems awkward. I hope to see the rest of it soon. LegoLink Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 5, 2009 Author Posted December 5, 2009 Fantastic, I can just smell that rubber! Great techniques ,but my only down side is the fact that the tires still have wheels in them which seems awkward. I hope to see the rest of it soon. LegoLink Thank you 'Legolink' for your comments, as too 'Milan' and 'Peterab' thanks again. Still having fun trying to make a heavy duty realistic trolley jack. On the comment about wheels being on the tyres - I agree, but thats how they did it in 7642 garage anyway I might rip the wheels off then. Make a wheel display maybe and make one of those tyre fitters that you can soemtimes see in tyre bays. Oh, yeah the rest of it (so far) can be seen in another one of my EB postings 'WIP-Country Town'. Quote
