Admiral Bejaune Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 It is a very sad sight indeed.... I guess LMR would rather be in pieces than fly a recoats flag over its stern. That being said I hope you can restore her to her original state. Quote
Matija Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Although what happened is indeed sad, I prefer looking at it as a nice challenge, that of rebuilding it. Heck, it is LEGO, and I'm sure you'll make it one day! CGH: Yes, as you also mentined, it's time for you to learn how to make building instructions! Won't help la Mort who's dead at the moment (pun intended, even though it's actually only seriously injured), but it might be useful for all the other beautiful models you've made (or will make). Commodore Hornbricker Posted December 6, 2009 Author Posted December 6, 2009 Update day 1. Many beers drunk still experimenting with various brands but Fat Tire seems to be working best at the moment. Fortunately I am familiar with CGH's manual. I figured today since I am switching to ship building mode it's just as easy to rebuild 1 ship as it is to build several...well 8 to be exact. I laid the hulls today for 3 additional La Mort Royal class ships (5 mid sections) two more with 7 mid sections, one with 9 mid sections (on the new bow/stern) and one with 3 mid sections on the old smaller hulls and I am goind to order parts for a couple more of those little guys. I have a lot of parts though not what you'd call well sorted but a did manage to get them all laid out and rounded as the guide calls for with a few modifications for the larger ships. I'll post pictures as I get the chance. As bad as La Mort Royal is the new ships have a few more build sessions before they will be caught up to her level and then they can all go forward together. Ras 74 Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Sorry to see what happend to the ship. Good to hear you are up and running and not sit around sulking. Good to have beers to cher you up as well Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Yeah, it is interesting to see what beer can do! I see you are running several great projects Commodore! It sounds great! There are a lot of ships under construction those weeks. I wish you all the best Commodore, keep us posted! Quote
Joey Lock Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Buying a Bluecoat ship? Greenhair selling? Whats going on! Are we to use the ship as a prize for a Museum? Or to gain techniques? Also, Is Greenhair now a pirate again? Quote
SlyOwl Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Ouch... that must be heartbreaking Nonetheless, building it back together again should be an "interesting" experience - perhaps you could build it into a car instead? Quote
I Scream Clone Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 My heart bleeds for you Hornbricker! Fortunately you have picked the right hobby to collect. This is the reason I got into Lego afterall, because the kids are most likely to destroy my creations, so you can rebuild it with CGH! Sure it will take some time, but that's great after sale service. Enjoy the new challenge. Quote
Zorro Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 I really don't understand how Customs and postal offices operate nowadays, I have had sooo much trouble and problems myself shipping things (I had to ship one particular item to Erdbeereis 3 times before it would finally arrive in good state!) and much other things happened. Still Belgian postal offices are extremely expensive and Customs bill me for some kind of additional tax nearly every time I buy something online from another country. Yet they cannot succeed in delivering something the way you intended and where you paid for! Other thing is that shipments from the Netherlands and Belgium are mostly seen as 'suspected', which would cause Customs to search them thoroughly for drugs. This should in no way be a reason to break it down like they did, because I think they broke it down just to search it for dope. Much luck with the rebuild Hornbricker! Quote

It's cheaper to ship to California (I'm on the east coat by the way) than it is for me to ship to my next door neighbor. Canada Post is messed, everybody hates them. Quote
General Armendariz Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Wow, the ship is now just bricks in a box and just nothing living in there Quote
Lego_Warlord_8 Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 (edited) S***. What a bumer! At first glance I thought you distroyed the thing. Hope you can get it fixed somehow. ~SR~ Edited December 7, 2009 by Lego_Warlord_8 Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted April 6, 2010 Author Posted April 6, 2010 Well life caught up with me for a while but I finally finished putting Captain Green Hair's La Mort Royale back together. She is almost the same ship with just a few minor changes. Thanks again Rick. I hope I did her justice. She can now take up her role as the main enemy of my Brick Royal Redcoat Fleet! I hope the pictures are OK. I don't have my regular camera at the moment. I haven't done a lot of bulding lately but I am working on a pair of bomb Ketch ships at the moment. Quote
Capt. Stabbin Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Great job putting her back together. Looks amazing!! Quote
General Armendariz Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 What a beauty! She sails once again with great pride for her country. I'm glad to see that the ship is reconstructed and improved. May this ship sail forever! I think you should make a second topic to show her completion. Quote

Fires-storm Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 I think a little part of me just died seeing that happen to such a magnificent ship, however I'm glad to see she rose again in one piece, well done mate. Quote

Admiral Bejaune Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Ah its about time!! Its good to see her again... Im not sure bout the white in the ladder though. but it is good to see it built again. Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 It's great to see her back again, under full sail this time! Great job Commodore! Don't pummle her around too much with your fleet. Good job! Quote
Matija Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Just a week or so ago I remembered about this beauty and asked CGH about it... it was nice seeing that she's alive & kicking! Good work! Quote
Captain Becker Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 i was almoust to give up the hope and thinked at you wont do that never again... but looks at that beaty now Glad you make it again Commodore Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted April 7, 2010 Eurobricks Emperor Posted April 7, 2010 You did a magnificent job restoring this might vessel. I remember this was one of the firsts ships using the "Captain Green Hair" techniques which are now so very popular amongst LEGO ship builders. The ship has lifted the standard of LEGO ship building and it's great to see this piece of history restored into it's full glory. Quote
Joey Lock Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Good Job repairing her! Shame to see she is still flying the Bluecoat flag... Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 I almost thought you gave up, but you did a great job on restoring her buddy! Can't wait to see your full port finished with all the ships in it. Quote
