Inconspicuous Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 The only set I know I'm getting is the Fire Brigade. My "battle plan" this year is to only ask for money so I can jump right on the January lines. Quote
MrTools Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 I think i may get Brickbeards Bounty of the Imperial flagship! My parents keep teasing me about them and giving hint that they could have bought one! I know next week for my birthday i most likely will get a copy of the winter toy shop. But for now i really don't know what will happen, my parents spent the majority of our Christmas money on a wii (I'm the only one they told) leaving a lot less for other things. My parents are of the "too old for Lego" sort. Oh man i would hate that, my parents are fine with my collecting/building. Quote
Swash Buckler Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 What LEGO do you expect under the tree this year? I am expecting the Fire Brigade and most of the Pirate sets. What did YOU ask for? I bought some great lego- presents for myself Endor, Echo Base, Brickbeard's Bounty, Drawbridge defense, Shaghai chase well i would like to have 2010 bp: s too but let's see i haven't had so legofilled christmas since... well 1999 when i got my first sw-sets sweet memories Quote
CP5670 Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 I don't really get gifts as such. I just buy stuff whenever I feel like it, and this holiday shopping period is always a good time to buy. Quote
Front Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 The only Lego presents that will be under my family's tree, is all the presents I buy for my nephews. Duplo and 5+ system sets it is. ALthough I gave mey father a Volkswagen set last year He's on pension. Quote
prateek Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 Or I get money, cold hard cash, which I dislike. I don't like getting cash either, because it just sits in my wallet or in a bank account doing nothing except maybe collecting a 1% interest, which is usually less than $1/month. Oh man i would hate that, my parents are fine with my collecting/building. They don't mind me building things, it's just that they don't want to get me more. Quote
The Cobra Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 1) Nothing new, because there doesn't seem to be any good deal in shops or malls, and I fear ebay will be a busy place. 2) But I still have to open the Pirate AC and the 2008 City AC, not to mentions some 30 other sets (all of this year's Daily Mirror promos, some of last year's, and a few more things, from very small to medium -nearly large). Sunday morning edit to point 1: there actually isn't any good deal around, and shelves are half-empty even where prices are higher than RRP. Quote
Milan Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 When I work, I have money myself, so I buy whatever I want (or what I can afford), usually BL order for parts. My parents get me and my brother some traditional gifts, few candies and some cash. We cant afford much, so it is really not so important, best part is time during holidays! Quote
rriggs Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 My wife has told me to expect a big pile of Lego this year but won't tell me what! I know she has got me the Fire Station (I saw it delivered) and she has already given me the Advent Calendar but I don't know what else. She's keeping whatever she has got me at her parent's house to stop me snooping Still, less than two weeks to wait........ Cheers Rog Quote
SlyOwl Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 Am I the only one not wanting anything this Christmas? It's not that I've got too much Lego - I've got enough to MOC in my style, but only around 15,000 bricks overall. I guess it's the lack of decently priced sets; the MMV would be ideal, but still feels excessive for the impact it would make on my MOCing - essentially just accessories and some more brown/tan. I haven't actually asked for anything - although my parents did get my the Pirate Advent Calendar, a complete and welcome surprise, and reasonable value for a set that size, so I don't have to feel bad about wasting money. I'm expecting an impulse set from our Maths class Secret Santa, but that's about it overall... Quote
Zorbas Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 Town Plan!!! I'm just waiting for a call from the LEGO shop. Please Santa Zorbaus!!! I've been a good boy! Naaahhh... Quote
Lord Admiral Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 I pretty much buy whatever I want over the course of an entire year (I don't actually want that much, though I do end up getting more because of sets on discounts and such), so I don't actually expect any Lego for Christmas. In fact, I discourage it, since there's a good chance I'll already have the set. I get things that I don't typically buy for myself--like clothes. Quote
Tereglith Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 My grandma is coming down to Florida, and I'm going to steer her towards some of the smaller Atlantis sets at TRU as soon as she gets here. My parents used to think that I didn't need any more lego (21,000 pieces is enough, for goodness sake! Your room is covered with them!), but I've showed them all of my recent MOCs and I think they're coming around, so I might get some stuff from them as well, although I have no clue what. My dad might buy me some IJ like last year, because he secretly wants to play with them (he's a big nerdy kid at heart ) Quote
Grimmy Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 (edited) I'm expecting an impulse set from our Maths class Secret Santa, but that's about it overall... When I was a kid in school and we did the secret santa thing, and the person asked me what I wanted, I said Legos every time. I'd get one of those small sets. Once we had an odd number of people in my class so the teacher was my secret Santa and I was hers lol. She asked me what I liked, I said Legos. She said Legos are really expensive which is what everyone said. She ended up getting me generic imitation Legos and when I opened she kept asking if it was okay. I was happy! I loved Legos but I rarely got them so even though they were imitation, I was still happy. They were just like Legos but the 2x4 plates were thicker, like 2 Lego plates stacked thick. They were good imitation ones compared to the horrible imitation Lego bucket my parents got me for one Christmas...OMG I was so dissapointed that I had to hide the tears in my eyes. (To top it off my lil brother peed in the bucket with them one day for some reason) I waited all year to get a real Lego set. In my childhood I only had big Lego sets which was a Police Head Quarters and the $52 Legoland Castle that someone has as an avatar on this forum. I guess the budget to spend was really small and I don't remember well, but I don't think Lego had nearly as many small sets as they do now. Now they got a bunch of nice $6 sets. Me and my 6 year old niece put together a Castle Dwarves Mine today and also the Troll Warship and we talked about how everyone keeps asking what I want because they don't know so she said we should get some pirates which I really want too! So I told her that if anyone asks what to get me, tell them to get me a Lego Pirates set. So we can build it together. :) The Troll Warship is awesome and huge btw! Destroydacre Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 For the most part, I buy all my own Lego sets, so I didn't ask for any. However, I haven't gotten around to buying Home One or Endor yet, but it's been recommended that I not buy either until after Christmas is over. We'll see I guess. Quote
RileyC Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Im hoping the new star wars battle packs and the freeco speeder. That is if they come out in time Quote
Legoliner Pilot Posted December 13, 2009 Author Posted December 13, 2009 I can't believe so many people asked for the Fire Brigade! It's a really good set, all of you will enjoy it. Quote
Sisco Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 After some rather horrible hiding by my mother( She hid them in my old toy box ), I now know what I am getting for Christmas. 1.7679 Republic Fighter Tank 2.7749 Echo Base 3.7748 Corporate Alliance Tank Droid 4.8014 Clone Walker Battle Pack 5.8014 Clone Walker Battle Pack Not a bad list! Especially since she only usually gets me 1 or 2 sets for Christmas. I think she has finally resigned herself to the fact that I will be a FOL forever ! Quote
Follows Closely Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 My nieces visited for Thanksgiving break, they loved our LEGOS. spend most of the weekend playing with them. Under their tree they will be getting 45 lbs of LEGO from their uncle. I picked up on craigslist for $100. Quote
Modulex Guy Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 I'm not expecting any LEGO under the tree, I always get the "I never know which sets you have or don't have." I will most likely get cash or a gift card or something in that nature, which I'm fine with, because then I can go on a shopping spree! Quote
Commander_Rob Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 I`ll most probably get the Tantive IV and the Lego Indiana Jones 2 video game. Lego Star Wars Visual Dictionary was also on the list but I bought that on holiday already. Quote
Big Cam Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 I'm almost positive that my wife is getting me the Endor set, as it's the only one I asked for. But from everyone else I just asked for Money, so I could buy my own. and I have a list. Quote
Topsy Cret Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Me and my family aren't religious, but we do celebrate the modern-day traditional gift-giving and family reunions that often take place during Christmas. Our gifts are always something special; we never get anything such as clothes for each other as we believe that's just an excuse to save money. Our gifts aren't necessarily grand either, just a little nicety. However, this year I received an early Christmas present all the way back in November; the Emerald Night. Though my parents paid for a little more than half of it, it already went over their regular Christmas budget for me. Two days ago, a friend of mine back in the 'states sent me a Winter Toy Shop. With both of those out of the way (and built, naturally), as well as several other 2009 exclusives and standard sets, There's hardly any LEGO that I want (amazingly). It was a while since I felt that feeling. Being the snoop that I am, I looked (and shook) the Christmas present from my parents that lies under the tree. Definitely not LEGO. In all likelihood, some type of candy or puzzle. There is still hope, though; my birthday is on the 26th of December, and my family believes that both dates should in no way carry any influence on each other (including financial). Although I wished for a few Rubik's puzzles, so I'll probably get that. One can never tell though; my parents carry impeccable taste and momentum. Guess I'll just have to wait. In the meantime I shall sit here, reading forum topics, occasionally grabbing a mini Reese's Cup, and enjoying the foreground view of my Winter Toy Shop. Merry Christmas, and to all a good night! mikey Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 The only LEGO I get under the tree is stuff I put there myself ... Me to, but im quite happy to buy for myself! I have a 1383 Lego Studios Curse of the Pharaoh, and 7413 Passage of Jun-Chi, for me to open so far. To be honest I am thinking that I might pick Lego up in sales after christmas for myself, so I might leave it at that. But... Lego (i dont bother with a tree), wrapped up for my neice and nephews: Darth Vader's TIE Fighter (9 year old nephew- Star Wars obsessed, and to be fair he likes the original star wars more than clone wars!) Power Miners Cave Crusher (10 year old nephew, not the worlds biggest kid fan of Lego but he does play with it) Indiana Jones Venice Canal Chase (my 9 year old neice who loves Indy Lego!) And of course at christmas and birthdays every child wants an adult 'helper' to share the build with. I'm really looking forward to the Tie Fighter, I know from expierence that Venice Canal Chase is a nice set, and i'm thinking the Power Miners might have an interesting function maybe! So even though they are not for me, i still get a lot of the fun! Quote
LEGOMAN132 Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 This is what I asked for 7749 Echo Base 7751 Ahsoka's Starfighter 7753 Pirate Tank 8038 The Battle of Endor 7676 Republic Attack Gunship I asked for some city sets as well. Quote
