Man those new helmets look terrible. The vehicle also seems quite small, and not great in terms of design. I would probably have picked up a few of these if they had the old helmets, but now I'll probably pick up one for the sake of having one and perhaprs the backpacks.

Was this at an official LEGO Store? $15 is way way too much for that. I would have picked one up for $11-$13, but never $15.
Please tell me you got this at Toys R Us, and thus the $4 mark-up?

Battlepacks are great and all, but if that's the new MSRP then I'm not buying. I'll probably be the only one to take a stand like this, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Prices have gotten out of control in my opinion, so until they do something about it I'll have to make do with what I have.

I completely agree. $15 when I go "megabluck you" to LEGO.

However this time of year TRU does not mark their prices up, I don't know why, but the early sets are the correct prices until sometime after Christmas / January.

No need to complain, it's just TRU's (not the LEGO Store, TRU always gets stuff first) overpricing at work.

The normal price will $11 USD, as usual.

Normal price should be $10, but TLG overpriced it to $11. But they didn't go to far to $15 as we expected from amazon previous prices.

Those new helments looks good but i'm gonna have so many different types of hoth rebel soldiers because they are all different from hoth rebel base, echo base and now this pack. Cool new pilot. The vehicle looks small though.

How do we know what the "normal price" is? Until June the normal price was $10, then without any warning the normal price became $11. TRU this time of year doesn't do their mark ups, so this could be the new "normal price".

sorry if i sound stupid by saying this please forgive me if i do sound stupid but is the "ICE CUTTER" vehicle a real vehicle from the star wars universe or is it just some odd vehicle that TLG made up?

if it is a real vechile from the star wars universe could you please find a picture to go with it please (without trying to sound pushy  )

Is that trans-1x1 supposed to go on the back of the Ice Cutter?
That's an extra piece - the actual set only comes with one 1 x 1 round plate. My guess is that the other hole is where you place a gun for storage.

I find it odd how you're actually supposed to put the driver of the ice cutter vehicle one stud in front of the seat because of the backpack. :look:

Well, what about all those other LEGO Star Wars sets at TRU? The Freeco Speeder and Droid Tri-Fighter sets are supposed to be $25 USD normally when they're about $30 right now, and the larger sets are about $5 more than the MSRP, too.

Loving that Rebel Pilot head.

The helmets look a little odd with the visor down so when I get this I may just leave them up.

The new torso is great and I like the fact that there are two different people and two standard.

There is so many new parts to this set its surprising that its at normal battle pack prices. The new torsos are amazing especially the rebel soldier one, the pilots isn't that different which is good imo. the helmet is really cool and I like how you can change where the goggles sit on it. I prefer them to be rested on the top because the soldier cant really see that well if it is down. The 30th anniversary ESB logo is really cool as well.

Great review!

one thing seems interesting though, i just watched a video review of the snowtrooper battlepack, they didnt name the officer as Veers in that pack but as a standard imperial officer, i cannot understand why they chose to name the rebel pilot who seems to be more generic aside from the helmet signs.

It is real, the scene with the ice cutter was filmed, but never shown in E5.

Here is a pic, it was shown in the "2010 discussion-thread":

THANK YOU! This review is brilliant. It confirms all my thoughts about how good this set is. The new torsos, helmets and faces are fabulous with no creative thought spared.

Your review is just brilliant. The photos are very well taken and give everyone you has not got this set yet a view into how it works and what you get.

Cannot wait to see some of your other reviews, maybe with some of the other new sets??

Well Done.

Two is included but one is a spare, there is just supposed to be one of those trans-red pieces attached to it.

And for the ones of you who asked where I got it:

I live in Sweden and as I said I got it from a store in the town where I live which was the only place to sell some of the new sets, at least so far. So in other words; it is not available in the US yet as of yet.

The only con IMO of this otherwise really nice set is that the Hoth trooper helmets pops off a tad too easily from the minifigs (at least from the ones in my copy of the set).

You're from Sweden too? Have you checked out SweBrick, our own Swedish LEGO forum (link in my signature)?

Funny that the two reviews on this set that are out so far are both made by Swedes

Did you get it at Coop Forum too?

Good to see another Swede around :classic:

Yeah, I got it at that store too; it seems like it's the only one to carry the new sets so far.
