I guess some people are never happy?

Great review, thanks, for the price this set is great value, 4 figures that are unique, great pieces, a fun build and great to see LEGO taking a few risks.

I think this is a great set, and I feel that if it doesn't at least bring a smile to your face then you're taking life too seriously, or at least taking LEGO a little too seriously :classic:

This set is what it is. It's a playset that will allow children to capture a little bit of the Toy Story magic with their imagination. If there were a poll, I'd vote this set as outstanding. That being said, I've been on the fence about buying this set; not because I think the mini-figs are blasphemous or anything, but rather it doesn't really fit into my collecting focus. But after seeing this review, I think I may be leaning towards the purchase side of the fence.

Guys.... Lack of interior is a great detail! It's suposed to be toy sheriff house, not real one...

Actually, in the movie, these buildings are made out of cardboard, so yeah, be glad that these are at least 3D.

Oh, and thanks for the review. Can't wait (literally) to get this set!

I've just checked the part list for this set over at BrickLink and now I really want this set!

There are so many great parts in lovely colours as dark brown, dark orange and brown! Tiles, bricks, plates...

I still don't like the minifigs but that's not going to stop me from getting this set (as long as the price doesn't get ridiculous)

Yes, it's a good parts pack. Dark brown 1x2 tiles  I also want a zillion of those dark brown half-cylinders for large scale tree trunks.

Sell on the figs to subsidise the parts! I'm sure they'll fetch a decent price.

Woody's Roundup looks to be a great set. Thanks for the review.

It looks like LEGO is reverting back to older days with poorly constructed sets that lack any sense of unity. The jail, mine and Sheriff's office seem haphazardly placed, as if they asked a child to build something and accepted it as a final product. And these minifigs seem to stray too far from traditional design, especially Bullseye.

Just take a step back and look at this set objectively. Better yet, imagine this was a moc. Pretty mediocre by today's higher standard in LEGO.

Amen. Thanks for the review Mariann, but I'll have to agree with Uncle here (that just sounds odd by the by), I cannot personally or objectively view this set ih a positive manner, it just seems so thrown together with an odd mishmash of colour and pieces. I'll admit the figs are great and that some of the pieces are useful but I cannot see that redeeming this set.

Nice review! I just want to say that I'm sick and tired of people bashing toy story though  I mean if you think the figs are that bad just don't use them :hmpf: If the sets are that bad just don't buy them! I like the toy story sets and even if the Afol community isn't too happy with them, they weren't designed for us, where they? They're meant for kids who like the movies, and honestly I think these sets will be pretty big money makers for TLC. So in my book at least these are a good choice

Well, the upshot of all this is, more Jesse figs on Bricklink. I'd love to have one but she's in all big, expensive sets I won't be able to afford....

I don't mind this set's layout because I see it as a set of tools to create a bigger scene. They could have just done the sherriff's office and added some anonymous buildings either side, but where's the fun in that? They may look odd together, but this set does have the three most important buildings in Woody's town and I much prefer to get those.

Although I'm fairly likely to get this set tomorrow, just thought I'd read through a review to see what I was getting.

Yes, it's a bit late, but I've finally taken an interest in this set. I prefer this over the train which should be out some time later mainly because it doesn't include duplicate figures, and is cheaper. Plus, a Stinky Pete minifig, which is great.

The buildings do seem a bit random, though, and the lack of a proper interior's not great, but isn't a huge issue.

I was planning on collecting the toy story range, this set looks cool for figs but now they have released a new range, all expensive i think ill knock it on the head and stick with star wars!
