Posted December 13, 200915 yr I started building a mini 4x4 offroader with rear swinging axle and all wheel drive. Here is a video of it: What you guys think? Edited January 25, 201015 yr by Zblj
December 13, 200915 yr That's amazing! How do you keep the wheels in power with the suspension? BTW here's the deeplinked video:
December 13, 200915 yr Author i used a 12 and a 20 tooth gear, because they can be meshed at an angle. This way the motor doesnt wanna spin the rear axle. I used a smilliar setup in trial truck 8. Picture of the meshing gears in TT8 (big one). http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/zblj/Tri...xle-gearing.jpg Edited December 13, 200915 yr by Zblj
December 13, 200915 yr I thought that squicking noise is somewhere in the drivetrain, but then I remembered that you have a parrot!
December 14, 200915 yr Hi Mate, really good. Can I ask what part is used for the front where the drive shaft (from the motor) goes down to wheels and is split. I not seen that part before.

December 14, 200915 yr Thanks mate, very impressive model, might try and build one myself. Has anyone made a lego vechicle that can go up a stair case?
December 14, 200915 yr Cool design. How is the drivetrain connected to the swinging axle? I've actually been building something similar to this, but I was trying to use the driveshaft axle itself as the pivot and found that it was putting too much stress on the axle. I thought that squicking noise is somewhere in the drivetrain, but then I remembered that you have a parrot! default_tong.gif I was wondering what that sound was too.
December 14, 200915 yr Thanks mate, very impressive model, might try and build one myself. Has anyone made a lego vechicle that can go up a stair case? No, but I have one that will climb a pipe or rope (naturally, not with wheels). Photos in process, will post here when I have time! Mark
December 14, 200915 yr No, but I have one that will climb a pipe or rope (naturally, not with wheels).Photos in process, will post here when I have time! Mark We have some kind of rope climber, in set Technic Monkey with clear case Motor, I am looking forward to see your model
January 2, 201015 yr Author Here is the finished model: Hope you guys like it :) <object width="853" height="505"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="853" height="505"></embed></object>P.S. why doesnt embedding work? Edited January 2, 201015 yr by Zblj
January 2, 201015 yr I like it. I am always amazed when I see how it can pass such a steep climb. It looks somehow unreal... But, you are expert for these vehicles!
January 2, 201015 yr P.S. why doesnt embedding work? There's a special function for embedding YouTube videos:
January 3, 201015 yr Really nice. Pity the steering is so slow, specially compared to the speed of the 4x4.
January 23, 201015 yr hello zblj , can I have the buildinginstruction for the mini offroader ? please send it to nxt2.0@web.de thank you very much nxt
January 23, 201015 yr Wow, this is really cool! I'm not a big Technic fan, but if this were a set I would definitely buy at least 3! I know the main wonder is the drive, but I think the colorscheme is very impressive as well. The gearwork to achieve the steering and tilting is very clever also. Great work , keep on... Gearing?
January 24, 201015 yr Author @nxt, there are unfortunately no building instructions, but i can add more photos, so you can build it yourself.
January 24, 201015 yr thank you very much Have you a another picture of front axle ? The offroader is very cool . nxt Edited January 24, 201015 yr by nxt
January 24, 201015 yr Author I am makinng an LDD file of offrader chassis. If you want it, send me a PM with your mail, and i will send it :)
January 24, 201015 yr In reference to my earlier question, I see what you did with the rear axle now. That's a clever idea with the double bevel gears.
