It's something thats being missing from Lego, but they must think police only chase bad guys, they also perform a fantastic serach and rescue service too. In just over an hour I created this to assist police in their search and rescue squad.

Yes it is based on the camper 7639, but that's where it shifts to a different orbit. Remember W.I.P. so it's not finished yet, I must still fit more clips to hold tools and build a portable lighting and winch rig to be carried by the two officers which I have not kitted out with their uniform yet.

Last picture is of the equipment storage racks (more to be fitted yet - must leave room for lighting/winch rig)

Your comments are very welcome, positive or negative thank you.

Funny and nice MOD! :sweet: Those modifications look and fit very nice in the original model

I really like it. I think you have started something beautiful here, and this design could be taken in a few directions - I'm now tempted to get the camper to make a SWAT Van, or a Prisoner Transport out of it.

I think thats a great conversion you have going on there. I would add a few more police markers on the side, just to enforce its position, but it still looks great. Especially how it opens up, there is almost no limit to what you can include there. It could also double up as another prisoner transport.

Thanks for all your comments, wow well then I better not let everyone down then. I'll be back doing the continuing fit out and I'll get those guys into uniform (might be a girl too in the team) later today then.

By the way, how about a new Ambulance eh?

Continuing the changes as I go, here's just a few little ones (W.I.P.).

police_rescue_van_5.jpgpolice_rescue_van_6.jpg

I thought a fire extinguisher with axe on the back for assisting fire fighters would be a good idea, a rescue rope as well in there and I have now set up a computer to monitor communications etc.,.

Comments welcome.

Nice van, the idea of an ambulance based on the 'camper'-design would look better I think. This somehow keeps reminding me of a police force camping trip...

Very nice, as always, lightningtiger!

The van has very nice shape, almost pefrct in mu eyes!

One suggestion, I would add more parts to the roof to make the roof flat, I mean front part is higher than back part of the roof.

It maybe look better if the roof was leveled!

Just my opinion!

Thank you 'Prateek', 'Rick' and 'Milan' for your comments and 'Milan' you are so right the openning back is too low and I will chnage that today.

This is still a W.I.P. so all your comments are important to keep my MOC's evolving, again to everyone thank you.

Posting new pictures later today (Australian CST).

I took onboard the advice from 'Milan' and increase the height of the rear section by 1 plate height.

Question to everyone is should I go 1 more higher ?

Also I have pictures of my rescue floodlight/winch rig.

Your comments are still very welcome.

One of the problems with your recent vehicular MOCs is that they are just to similiar to the original design. This MOC looks like a recolored camper with most of the ceiling detailing removed and replaced with sirens and lights. More over, the interior is pretty lacking; if the police need to transport tools they would use a pickup truck, not a van. You should at least add some radar or some computers, and a coffee maker with cups. :sceptic:

This vehicle looks too much like a camper and not enough like a van that law enforcement would use.

Though i really liked the mod (i'd definetely buy one for my son, if the set was available, i must agre with

I think that a small tour through Ralph_S brickshelf/Flickr gallery will give you additional inspiration...

Or, maybe there's something here (though I do think that Ralph_S' SWAT truck is brilliant)

Thanks 'Milan' for that photo of a British police van, it was useful as now we have this;

police_rescue_van_8.jpgpolice_rescue_van_9.jpg and then the camera went dead.

Mental note must check batteries everytime I use camera !

I'll post some more pictures tomorrow sometime - including a rescue being carried out.

Feel free to comment.

Gee I'm hitting the mark with this one man I love realism.

You see in Australia our police forces have special groups to do with either bomb disposal, armed response or in my case here search and rescue.

So if you have fallen down either an old mine shaft or down a cliff face, trapped under a car wreck or your house has collasped they will rescue you.

Like I said more pictures tomorrow with fresh batteries.

When I was in transport business I had almost the same van like in my photo, used for transport equipment, it had metal nets on windows inside to protect them, it has much better visibility than plain transporter!

I want to point the style of the roof, it is nicer when the roof is in one level, whether it being transporter or passenger van.

Light, I think it is great now, I like this roof better!
