lightningtiger Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 I guess I've been busy MOCing, well I'm not stopping now my country town is getting a postal service. First step - Mail Car (road one that is). A small post office is currently under construction in my to be completed pile. Comment welcome. P.S. Yes it's based around 3177 small car - didn't really had to tell you that now did I. Quote
Legoliner Pilot Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 No offense, but I really don't think a Smart Car is useful for a postal service, it can hardly carry anything. Looking at your pictures, I see very little space for cargo which would make it very difficult to deliver mail around your town without constantly returning to the post office. How are you supposed to transport a package or parcel? I'm sorry, but even in country towns vans are still used. Quote
Range Viper Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 That design certainly lends itself very well to a postal carrier. I am curious about your choice of colors though, I'm assuming your from a non US state, all the official mail trucks I've seen have been white. Quote

Great job on the recoulour BTW Quote

This is just a vehicle for express mail (letters) delivery, a parcel delivery truck will be on the cards when the lighting repair truck becomes available so I can convert one into a mail truck. The colours I have used is from previous mail/postal sets Lego has put out and matches the post office I have underway like I said above. To me there is no such thing as a bad comment, positive or negative it all helps design better MOCs or even MODs. Thank you 'Legoliner Pilot' for your honesty and everyone else for your comments too. Range Viper Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Ah I didn't even know there was a Postal theme. @ Legoliner as far as unofficial vehicles goes, usually the personal vehicle of the post officer, I have seen everything from big SUVs to tiny dirt bikes and all any of them leave package wise is a little card to go pick it up from the post office. Of course that is my experiance yours may be different. Quote
wooootles Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 The actual job is fine, but... that's a City car. Country folks probably don't have city cars, let alone ever heard of such things If anything that deliver car is much more suited in a downtown residential area, the extreme opposite of a county town. Rick Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Irrespective of the space in the back to carry mail, this looks great in this color scheme. I see a 'Smart' fad coming up... Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 14, 2009 Author Posted December 14, 2009 Now heres the post office, yeah it's a small one for a country town. Not just a place to collect or send mail, but also do your banking and bill paying at the same time. Comments welcome. Quote
Razgriz Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Next to the post office, that little car looks fantastic! Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Very nice - and the Post Office really fits with the LEGO postal sets. This isn't a bad thing, but with the use of the two yellow arches in the front, I'm getting a strong McDonald's vibe. Quote
Rick Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Cute little post office. My only suggestion would be to add some (dark) gray maybe to break up the 'McD vibe'. Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 14, 2009 Author Posted December 14, 2009 Thanks again everyone for the feedback. A bit of dark bluey grey to make it look less McPost, I'll change the 6x16 plate for the roof to DBG then and add 4 red curved slope pieces over the door way so no one has to stand in the rain when going in. This building was built over 6 months ago and I quickly finished the fit out last night for it to go with my new express post car. Keep those comments comming folks. Quote
prateek Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Great post office, but it would seem lik a very boring place to work. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 (edited) That looks simply , lightningtiger! Where can I buy it? No, seriously: Post office with simple but well-fitting interior and lovely post Smart - this would really make a great official set! Btw: The design of the exterior of the post office has a familiar ring to: Bank Robbery. Klaus-Dieter Edited December 14, 2009 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
MarcusV3 Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 I love that car! It's really nice, I sure hope to see all sorts of cars in the smart-car look. And if only lego produced a post office like that! I mean even if it's not that big it would look really nice and at least we'd have a post office in our town Quote
Milan Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Great post office, but it would seem lik a very boring place to work. Not just boring, Yellow can also create feelings of frustration and anger! So lets hope that officer is a calm guy! Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 15, 2009 Author Posted December 15, 2009 Well I don't think he's an agro US-postal worker with an snipper rifle or semi-automatic. I chose those colours because Lego used all yellow with red trim on the last mail van and plane. Besides heres the mail van and heres mine express post car mine design is only three studs shorter and two plate thickness less so I would say that both vehicles are in proportion. Still working on the building mods, should have them finished within 24 hours (posting then). Quote
