A few other things...

- I'm working on a somewhat secret project with computerbug right now.

SHHH! You'll blow our cover!

My name is Chris.

I am pretty intelligent for my grade actually in someways. (Kinda like Tereglith)

For some reason (Prolly due to my OCD and ADHD) I can remember an extraordinary amount of things like facts about comics I've never read and tons of things that I've only heard once while people in the lunch table behind me said last week and other pointless things like the fact that silly string is outlawed in Connecticut.

At school I feel like I'm surrounded by idiotic boys that can't even tell what a parka and a trilobite are.

I defy the laws of physics on a daily basis.

I'm the only few boys in my school that doesn't act perverted/gay regularly.

I'm probably the only boy in my grade that has read Alice in wonderland/ through the looking glass.

I'm a bit of a computer bug and whenever somebody asks me a question while at my house I can tell them the answer bring up an article about it get pictures of it and bring up a fansite about it in less than a minute.

I haven't sweared for about 2 years.

I'm learning German at school.

I live by the saying Brains over brawn. Or mind over muscle.

I sometimes wear goggles casually around my house.

My friends are all in the "geek" clique but I'm still the gear head of the group.

I'm very paranoid and slinky but I'm also very sneaky and quiet too.

I am a Christian.

My character "C.C" is supposed to be a version of me we act similar have the same name we look similar etc.

I am a big science nerd.

If you want to annoy me try to convince me aliens aren't real. I'll probably say something like... "Well then why did God make infinint amounts of planets if there's only one?!?! Got an answer? I did'nt think so."

I have a ferret a snake two dogs and a rabbit.

I keep a gasmask around the house and it has proven to be very helpful when I'm conducting science experiments with toys I get out of cereal boxes.

Just to clarify, I made this topic so we could find out more about each other and share some fun facts about ourselves, I was kind of hoping it wouldn't turn into a bragfest :classic:

I'm sorry. I'm not crazy enough to have anything like creating supervillians out of condiment packets and/or bottles full of raisins under my belt, so I guess I was going for the next best thing. I am chastised. :sadnew:

Here's some randomer stuff :classic: :

-My toothbrush plays the star wars theme when it's turned on.

-I've exclusively used shiny Ticonderoga pencils for three years.

-I own an immortal binder. The thing NEVER DIES. I think it made some Faustian pact with the binder devil. It's survived constant use all throughout middle school and through my freshman year so far.

-I've never owned any gaming system.

-My favorite minor holiday is Talk With A Fake British Accent day, which is TOMORROW! (or today, for some of you in different time zones). My second favorite minor holiday is Pi day, which is March 14 (3/14 as in 3.14159... this also happens to be Einstein's birthday)

-I'm in an Engineering program that sounds like it might be similar to JimButcher's - we have Amatrol training modules and do design projects. The Pringles got in today! :D

-I have a sister who is 11.5 months my junior. She's not an FOL. She is baking cookies as I type though, so she's not all bad.

-I subscribe to DISCOVER magazine. It's quite interesting.

-Religious views - I'm a Christian, Presbyterian by birth, and I don't know enough about the denomination to decide whether I'll want to change or not. As for evolution and creation, I subscribe to the BioLogos theory proposed by Francis Collins (head of the human genome project) in his book "The Language of God". It's the most logical explanation I've yet encountered.

-Jedi Council, when translated into Mandarin and back into English, comes out as "Presbyterian Church". This is a major pro for staying with the denomination

Posted

-My name is Grant. Like many others here I'm "underage", whatever that's supposed to mean. Like JimBee, I'm also a freshman in High school.

-One of my main hobbies is magic tricks. I often perform with a friend of mine, who is an inactive member here on the forums.

-I play Tenor Sax in the school band. I'm not first chair, but our section is pretty strong as it is.

-I also love to play classical guitar. My group and I just recorded our first CD to raise money for charity. We all put a lot of effort into it, and I'm pleased with the results.

-I am obsessed with all theatre-related arts. I participate in Speech (not Debate!), our school's SNL skit "team", and was recently selected to be in the spring play, The Odyssey. I can't wait to have an epic death scene onstage!

-I have good grades in school and love science. I excel in my Spanish class and do decent at the rest. Some day I want to work in Biology or Chemistry-related fields.

-I'm a cat person and have two cats: Copper and Silver, and orange tabby and a silver tabby.

Enough about me, I think I'm straying on the side of "bragfest".

My name is Prateek

I am 15 and in grade 10

I'm Indian and living in Canada

I like sports, I don't care who knows

I like soccer and pretty much any other sport that comes on TV (except darts) I play every sport, but I suck at them all :sadnew:

My favourite team is Liverpool FC and I also like Real Madrid, AC Milan, Bayern Munich, and Toronto FC

I like cars and bikes, and pretty much anything else on wheels

I collect 1:24 scale cars

I'm still rocking a Gamecube but I might get PS3 once Gran Turismo 5 comes out

I've had many pet fish, my favourite being 2 Black Moors named Jack and Black

My favourite colour is blue. Almost everything I own is blue

I have 2 sisters

I'm supposed to be a lefty but my mom forced me to convert at a young age. I still kick left though. I'm kinda ambidextrious, so that's a somewhat good thing that surfaced, I think.

Just like everyone else our age.

Except me.

OK, here are some random facts about me :classic:

My real name is Torbjörn and I don't think many non-scandinavians would know how to pronounce that  It's an old Viking name and is made up by two names actually. First it's Tor which is the norse god of thunder (Thor in English) and then it's Björn which means bear (the animal).

I'm 22 and studying cultural anthropology at the university of Uppsala in Sweden and I have a bachelor of art in archaeology. I have no idea of what I want to do with my life. But I like studying so I'll guess I'll stick with that for some years.

I'm atheist or maybe ignostic. I don't believe in any religion and can't think of any reason why I should :classic:

I like to read a lot. Mostly fantasy and historical novels but I've got a quite big collection of books so a lot of genres are represented. At the moment I'm reading We, the Drowned by Carsten Jensen (a Danish writer).

I've moved 9 times in the last 7 years and will move for the 10th time this January. I'm getting bit tired of this now :hmpf:

I know the flags of all the countries of the world. I've always found flags very interesting and would like to collecting flags too but it's a slow process at the moment.

I like to travel. My family used to travel quite often and I've been to a lot of countries in Europe with them as a child. In October I went to Rome with a friend and had a great time there. I really wish to go to America some day, both the North and the South, but I think that will have to wait until I've got more money.

I have no taste of music and listen to many different types. Mostly I only like one song by an artist so therefore I don't have a favourite one

Apart from English I've studied German and Spanish but I'm really bad at speaking either of them. I would like to learn those languages better but I haven't made myself do it yet.

That's it for now. :classic:

Ah yes a few more things.

- I can understand German almost perfectly and speak quite well, but I'm still trying to get better. :classic:

- My favorite TV shows are The Office, Community, Monk (too bad it just ended. 8 great seasons though. ) and White Collar. I also like watching the Amazing Race sometimes.

- I'm a Nebraska Cornhuskers college football fan.

Posted
*snip* I also like watching the Amazing Race sometimes.

Oh, yes, that's a great show! :classic:

A couple other things I just thought of...

- I like watching Ghost Adventures on the Travel Channel. I don't really believe in ghosts and ghouls, but what they find is pretty spectacular. I find it pretty funny to watch them argue and complain, too. Watching grown men scream like little girls is hilarious!

- I also like Man v. Food; I don't know how he can eat all thios stuff, but I am amazed. He's such a good TV show host, too.

Why not join the fun... Here's some facts about moi:

I'm Bobby. In 99.9% of the time I go under the alias of "MetroiD" on the Internet, but I've set up this account, just like the MOCPages and Brickshelf accounts, to showcase stuff which I build with my girlfriend, hence the different nickname. "Mr. Otter" sounds kinda fun, but I still consider myself a young soul, so you could just stick with Bobby there...

Just turned 24. Still at the university though. Went to the Technical University in Berlin for 3,5 years but had to cancel my studies there and return to Sofia (Bulgaria). Economics is my thing, although I just can't see how I can still find the nerves finish a Master's degree after my current studies. I wholeheartedly hate university - in general.

My dark age lasted 1998 - 2008. A decade during which I was too busy wearing Iron Maiden shirts, pendants, rings and bracelets, then playing computer games (and earning good money by working as a game magazine editor), then driving around in my first car and absolutely loving it, and then juggling with work and university in Berlin.

I still work alongside my studies. I've been working ever since I was 15, even if those were part-time jobs back then, can't imagine myself just "concentrating on my studies". I'm a sworn translator and professional interpreter, I work with English, German and Bulgarian languages and the area I enjoy mostly are simultaneous interpretations. I've also learned Russian, French and Spanish and I'm planning on picking up French once again at a later stage. I totally enjoy learning foreign languages.

I've had several cars over the years (seeing as this is obviously a thing most EBbers discuss :) ), but I currently don't own one. I've started on a 20-year old Russian LADA 1500S, so there's pretty much nothing that can surprise me. I'm planning on buying a motorcycle soon, which has been my dream ever since I was a kid (I'm obsessed with bikes). Later on, I'd like to buy a VW Scirocco.

I enjoy sports, even though I wasn't too sporty when I was a child. I've been involved with basketball, martial arts, inline skating, swimming, fitness and hockey since I was a teenager, and I still practice the last two sports, even though it's on an on/off basis right now, as I can't seem to find all the time I need. My favourite sport is still swimming though, followed closely by ice hockey.

I love reading books and I hate watching TV. Using the PC serves perfectly as middle ground, especially seeing as I spend hours upon hours surfing wikipedia, online magazines (Men's Health, National Geographic) and blogs - I like keeping myself informed and I find that it helps every aspect of my life.

I used to love playing computer games and considered myself a pro in that area, which is why there was a time when I worked as a gamers' magazine editor. Haven't played a single new game for the last 5+ years though, and I'm not planning to either. I don't find it enjoyable anymore, not even with the Wii concept and all. I guess my time with gaming has come to an end, which I find only natural. If I still play PC games from time to time, it's classics from the 90s such as the original Civilization, Colonization, MadTV, SimCity or some adventure game (Grim Fandango and Full Throttle are my two favourite games... love them to bits).

I'm an avid melomaniac and my taste in music covers pretty much the entire spectrum with classical music, opera, trash/neo metal and some forms of rap being the only exclusions. I enjoy having tons of music to choose from and I try to keep my collections of favourite artists in a lossless format. That said, I find myself morally obliged to purchase their CDs as well (that's why they're called "favourite artists", after all) and I buy boxsets every now and then.

Another thing I'm a huge fan of is watches - I love the brand Fossil. I own four Fossil watches and one Candino. I'll probably keep on buying Fossils seeing as I don't really like the production of equally-priced companies (Festina, Tissot, Candino, Citizen) and I'm still not too keen on splashing out on a Tag Heuer or an Omega. When the time comes though, I'm also definitely planning on adding a Tag Heuer Monaco to my watch collection.

I love the concept of wet shaving. I own a shaving brush and I use shaving soap and classic aftershave products. I genuinely hate canned shaving foam and razorblade cartridges / modern razors. I've recently ordered a single blade shaving razor which will help me finally get rid of Gillette and their multi-bladed junk.

...that should do it for now, I guess :]

P.S.: I've read all of your info and I found it rather interesting - keep em coming guys!

I have already told you guys everything except these three things.

The Happy Days theme song creeps me out for some reason. I'm not lying, it's very strange.

I have a talent at drawing nature scenes. Mostly trees. I'll try to scan some pics later.

I plan to propose to my girlfriend of 5 years this Christmas.

-I'm majoring in Computer Science while at the same time I'm a Scout Leader, apparently it confuses people to hear of a Computer Science major that goes outside.

-I'm Canadian, as such, I like bacon, hockey and maple syrup, however I cannot skate, so I played Curling instead of hockey while growing up. Je parles français assez pour communiquer.

-I am rather fond of medieval history, as is evident by my fondness of the Castle theme. I'm also rather fond of Russian history, particularly stuff involving the Bolsheviks.

-I'm a huge nerd, as such, I've run a DnD campaign in which all the minis were Lego figs from my collection/things I made for larger monsters. Sadly the larger things have all been dismantled for storage purposes.

-I had a bit of a Dark Age for a few years, where I even bought Meg@bl0ks. Those figs cannot hold onto their weapons to save their lives...

Seems good enough for now.

I'll play

35 years old. Married for almost 11 years. I have two young sons who are 7 and just about 5. They are my reason for getting back into LEGO. Without them I would not be here. As they started to get old and wanted more playing time with Dad I put the PC gaming aside and broke the LEGO out of the storage. Since then I have become devoted to LEGO all over again because of my two boys.

I own and operate a Automotive Repair facility in my small hometown. I've restored over a dozen old, race and exotic cars in my spare time and currently have 5 classic cars that are at my hands to drive when I want. three of which I own and the other two are owned by the business between myself and my father. My frustration is I can envision, restore, build and modify anything automotive but my LEGO Moc skills I am still trying to get a hold of.

Outdoors Men. Which is why I am coming and going in here at times. As the weather gets worse I spend more time indoors since Wisconsin Winters are no fun and I am not a big winter fan, this time of year I play video games, LEGO and read a lot. Historic Military and fiction are my favorites. My fun in the summer with Road Racing Cars, Autocross, Coaching Soccer and Baseball with my boys. That and camping, hunting and just generally being outside.

I have a issue with not needing much sleep in life which is why I have so many hobby's. 4-5 hours a night is all I have ever needed. I have a extremely bad type A personality which can turn people off at times. I am in charge, I need to be in charge and always will be in charge :classic:

- I used to be a rally driver (my wife was my co-driver) and raced in the SCCA ClubRally Series and the Rally America Championship series. We won two Central Division championships in a 1986 Dodge Omni GLH (similar to a Talbot Sunbeam for you guys and gals across the pond).

- Music taste is all over the map but mostly Punk/Emo, Metal (Power & Hair), and Dance music.

- I work in the plastics industry and I am currently working to help start up the Defense/Aerospace Division at a major thermoplastic compounder in the US.

- I enjoy reading fantasy novels including high fantasy, steampunk, and pirate novels.

I'm pretty sure that's an oxymoron.

Hahaha. I guess people have different concepts of what 'emo' is. I don't necessarily that being 'depressed' all the time makes you emo nor do you have to be depressed to be emo. To me, it's more about being in touch with your emotions and the emotions of others. In the end, it's all about passion.

Now I know the face to the name. I bumped into you at Brickworld 2008. You were messing with the kids while they watched the crane by remote control go up and down and we small talked for a bit. You had a AWESOME display and I recall you mentioning the SCCA ClubRally and getting out of it and into LEGO again.

Funny how that little snippet brought that memory crashing back.

I adore hats, I have: A Black Top Hat, a leather aviators cap and goggles, a german police officers hat from the 60s, a fleece spiked snowboarder hat, a purple knitted hat with ear flaps, a hat of the cat from Trigun, a Skull Bear hat with ears, two very furry "russian" hats one in black and grey and one in brown. A trilby a peaked hat and a bucket/boonie hat in olive green. I want to get a slump and possibly a smaller drivers hat and an army helmet.

I also have three different styles of leather jacket and a long oxblood red leather trench coat.

Is there a story in between these two...?

I may as well continue with a few other bits about myself:

- I'm greying a bit despite my age, on the sides of my head like Mr. Fantastic. I think it looks rather good.

- In school, I always wanted to be a journalist. I picked my university subjects on that basis, but half-way through, I realised that I preferred creative writing over factual, so I haven't really used my degree much. I've co-written one novel and contributed to a short-story anthology so far, but nothing for the last couple of years. Focussing on languages these days.

- I'm fascinated by Soviet movie advertisements, particularly sci-fi. I like any classic pulp sci-fi imagery.

- My friends all preferred the Transformers, but my childhood heroes were the Real Ghostbusters.

- I despise umbrellas.

- I despise superhero comic books. I only know what Mr. Fantastic looks like because my brother is a huge fan. I do like the Joker, though.

- When I was about six years old, I tried to make milk by combining flour and water. It tasted horrible, and I lost my voice for about a minute.

- I've never broken a bone or had to visit a hospital (other than to see other people).

- My favourite starship captain is Sisko. He punched Q. Picard never punched Q. He would have punched Wesley Crusher.

- I drove a forklift for a couple of years before I got my driver's licence. A forklift is technically a piece of heavy machinery rather than a vehicle, and I was a machine operator, so I didn't need one. Couldn't go on the roads, though.

- People are always asking if they'd seen me somewhere recently. Apparently, a lot of people look like me.

- "Dunjohn Keeper" is what I called my save files in the old PC game Dungeon Keeper. It stuck, and I've always used it as my internet name.

- My favourite Lego colour is trans neon yellow.

- I used to be able to realize when I was asleep and dreaming, and take control of the dream. Don't seem to be able to anymore.

Well, since I never introduced my self here  let me tell you some things about me here.

  • I am nearly 22 years old and enrolled at the Art Institute of California - Orange County. My major used to be Animation, but now switched to Visual Effects & Motion Graphics. I hope to work at one of the big Animation studios one day.
  • My parents are Turkish. I was born in Berlin and moved to the States with my parents and little sister in 2005. Therefore, I can speak 3 different languages.
  • Aside from Lego, I'm also obsessed with cartoons. I will watch anything that's animated, as long as it's not too dumb (like preschool TV shows or some of the stuff they show on adult swim). Usually, I despise Anime, but I respect it as a different kind of cartoon, and there are some exceptions (like Lupin III, Cowboy Bebop, or Steamboy) which are pretty good.
  • I also like European comic books like Asterix, Tintin, or Don Rosa's Uncle Scrooge comics.
  • I am a huge PIXAR fan, hence my obsession with the new Toy Story sets.
  • Obviously, I'm a fan of the Star Wars saga too, mainly the prequel trilogy.
  • As you can tell by my petition, I am a Harry Potter fan as well. It's the only book series I have ever completely read.
  • I hate rain and cold weather, which is why I'm very glad we moved to sunny California!
  • I hate Hannah Montana and all those other "Disney channel stars".
  • I have a Disneyland annual pass and get 10% off at the Lego Store thanks to it.
  • I just lost over 10 kilos thanks to daily exercise.
  • I'm atheist and very afraid of death.
  • My favorite color is lime green, exactly the kind the Power Miners sets are made out of.
  • Currently I drive a silver Chevy Cavalier, and my dream car is a 2005 Mustang. However, my next car will be a hybrid as I feel bad about the environment, and it has much better mileage.
  • I love fudge and milk chocolate.
  • I also really like bread and melted cheese, which is why I love Pizza and cheeseburgers. I also like burritos.
  • I have two cats and am totally a cat person. I also like frogs. I don't like dogs much.
  • I have been very short sighted since birth, but fortunately I can see just good enough to be able to drive. I am constantly searching for ways to improve my vision.
  • The good news: I have been featured on German TV three times due to my vision.

So, now you know me a little better. I'll post again if I think of something interesting to share about myself.
