It seems the dorky smiles are slightly less dorkier, but the eyes are final.

Thanks for the huge image. Great little set with lots of minifig selection - perfect for those who've missed previous version.

I agree with the faces being a little too smiley and would've preferred the old look Luke with highlighted eyes (I like 'em), blonde eyebrows too...

...after look finds his home burned and his aunt and uncle dead, that isn't eally something that should make him happy...

...especially after Luke losing his home, aunt and his uncle.

...but LEGO could hardly have given him a face twisted into a grimace of terror and grief, eyes wide and tearful from witnessing the horror of seeing his family and home scorched to husks.

Obviously you're not looking for something that extreme. My point is this is still a child-friendly theme and in such instances they might want to add a couple of smiles to the characters.
