Eskallon Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Wow that was quick, well played all you infected. And thanks for letting me into my first mafia game quarryman.
Sir Dillon Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 Congratulations infected! This is one of the quickest wins I've seen. I'm a little disappointed my role didn't have a positive side to it, but then I wouldn't have had much time to use it anyway. It was a tough break being investigated so early, not only because it caused me to die, but then Svelte revealed himself and we lost the investigator.
simonjedi Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 (edited) By the way guys, I am very curious of everyone's character cards. Let me start the ball rolling, Dr. Ben Elegnem, head of medical staff It's amazing what kinds of weird diseases a varied bunch like the Gagarin's crew can come up with, and that's just among themselves, include all the strange worlds they visit and you get a real party cocktail for a xenobiologist like yourself. You are, however, not infected. You win when all those pesky alien infected no-goods have been thrown out an airlock or otherwise disposed of. In general a very quiet guy though, you can follow any one person and night and see if they're up to something. OR you can hide in your isolation lab where you are safe from harm. Cowardly reporter (could follow another player at night and see if they were up to something, or hide in his lab):simonjedi I've been called worse will be sig'd later. Excellent game though. shame I died quickly though. Edited December 16, 2009 by simonjedi
Quarryman Posted December 16, 2009 Author Posted December 16, 2009 I've been called worse will be sig'd later. That particular role is called a cowardly reporter
Zepher Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 I'm more than a little disappointed. Our team really sucked. I have to say, Hinck and Shadows should never be put on the same side. Their egos force them to kill each other, and we all go down in flames with them.
Darth_Legois Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 I'm more than a little disappointed. Our team really sucked. I have to say, Hinck and Shadows should never be put on the same side. Their egos force them to kill each other, and we all go down in flames with them. I'm pretty sure they kill each other regardless of side! (Except if they're both scum, but still they put a little show on. )
Luke McAwesome Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 I'm more than a little disappointed. Our team really sucked. I have to say, Hinck and Shadows should never be put on the same side. Their egos force them to kill each other, and we all go down in flames with them. I'm proud to have not been brought down by them in Noir. I'm just happy they were actually working together during that game. Things could have ended badly.
Hinckley Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 I have to admit I was pretty annoyed when Shadows voted against me. But even more annoyed with my own gameplay afterwards. Sorry about that folks. It would've been easier to figure things out without me voting for everyone that moved or talked or even looked my way.
Darkness Falls Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 Maintenance guy Jad Suur No one really knows where you come from, nor how you got aboard the Gagarin, but they do appreciate the fact that you keep all kinds of things running, and always have clever solutions to everyday problems.
Zepher Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 I have to admit I was pretty annoyed when Shadows voted against me. But even more annoyed with my own gameplay afterwards. Sorry about that folks. It would've been easier to figure things out without me voting for everyone that moved or talked or even looked my way. Haha. Worry not, my friend. I'm sure we'd be more screwed without you than we were with you.
Hinckley Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 Haha. Worry not, my friend. I'm sure we'd be more screwed without you than we were with you. What? How could we get more screwed? We're all dead!
Shadows Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 Lt. Cmdr. Susan Antares Career military like your mother, grandmother etc back to at least the 1950s on Old Earth you have signed on to the KF Gagarin to gain some needed deep-space experience to move further up the military hierarchy of the Tellus Union. You are fit for fight and not infected. You win when all those pesky alien infected no-goods have been thrown out an airlock or otherwise disposed of. Trained in several of both human and non-human martial arts disciplines you are adapt at disarming any opponent, thus you are a blocker. Each Night you may select one other player which you want to block from performing any night actions. Your target should be sent to me in a PM during the 48 hours the night lasts. If your action is not sent within those 48 hours it won't be counted. Life is lonely out here in deep space though, so for a while you've taken to bed Chief of Security Michael Sheridan (Hinckley). Though you keep telling yourself that you're only using him for warmth and comfort you've become quite attached to him and would be badly stricken with grief if anything happened to him. In fact, you'd probably kill yourself. --- I really wanted to make more use of the family background to tell silly stories of past luncheon meat wars, but it didn't happen once the madness started and everyone looked suspicious to me. I never had much to go on for blocking, though I'm pretty sure I blocked Sandy twice, not once, all based on Stash noticing that she went out one night and it happening to be the night Sarah was found to be infected. I really thought she would turn out to be a framer. Basically, the whole game was nonstop confusion.
Hinckley Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 Basically, the whole game was nonstop confusion. Too bad your tactic was to nonstop spaz out.
Shadows Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 Too bad your tactic was to nonstop spaz out. Vote: Hinckley / Michael At least I had a tactic.
Quarryman Posted December 17, 2009 Author Posted December 17, 2009 So.. Who killed/blocked/saved who? I'll put up a complete list of all night actions when I get home from work today.
Ben Kenobi Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 What do the wieners do now they've won? Are they just standing around taking group happy snaps? Who's holding the camera, anyway? The infected AI? Are the wieners going to hatch out of the host bodies and wriggle back to the homeworld and sell off their green palm tree trunks on IntergalacticBricklink at $US6 a pop to furnish funds for their next campaign? Were they good, evil, mad, bad, or merely dangerous to know? Enquiring minds want answers!Plot, plot, plot! Games Regulator, make Quarry finish the story! Probably not, as the weiners are heading into a black hole... Great game, really interesting to watch. Now I hope I get into Hinck's new game! Ben Kenobi
The Crazy One Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 (edited) Probably not, as the weiners are heading into a black hole... Great game, really interesting to watch. Now I hope I get into Hinck's new game! Ben Kenobi Hinkcly's game is a Mystery game. It's going to be much more...................mysterious........ And as he said, it is going to be very different from Infection. Still sounds like fun though. Great game of Infection guys. I couldn't stop watching. Prehaps we need an Infection 2........... Edited December 17, 2009 by The crazy one
Quarryman Posted December 17, 2009 Author Posted December 17, 2009 Probably not, as the weiners are heading into a black hole... No no, they're on their way to an undisclosed location Prehaps we need an Infection 2........... I'm considering that. Though, there are other games want to run before a sequel to Infection. So it certainly won't be my next mafia game on EB at least.
Etzel Posted December 17, 2009 Posted December 17, 2009 I'm considering that. Though, there are other games want to run before a sequel to Infection. So it certainly won't be my next mafia game on EB at least. It could be called Disinfection Thanks for a very nice game Quarryman! I really enjoyed watching it and sometime in the future when I got time I might sign up to play one of your games!
Quarryman Posted December 17, 2009 Author Posted December 17, 2009 So, as promised.. Infection night actions Night 1 Shadows blocked Svelte (success) Svelte tried to investigate Shadows (not success, blocked) The Infected used Mr Mandalorian to kill WhiteFang (success) The Infected used Sandy to block Zepher (no effect) WhiteFang tried to protect Shadows (not success, WhiteFang was killed) simonjedi decided to stay in his lab (success) Darth_Legois tried his traitor ability on YG-49 (no effect) I Scream Clone tried to kill YG-49 (success) Clearly a good night for the Infected, the investigator was blocked, they killed the protector (who didn't have a backup) and the vigilante killed a non-infected. Night 2 Shadows blocked stash2sixx (no effect, stash's night action hadn't been enabled) The Infected used Mr. Mandalorian to try to kill simonjedi (success) Svelte investigated Sir Dillon (success, but flawed as Sir Dillon was a miller) Darth_Legois tried to use his traitor ability to link up with Dragonator (success) The Infected used Sandy to try to block eskallon (no effect) simonjedi didn't use his night action I Scream Clone tried to kill Darkness Falls (success) Not such a good night for either party. Night 3 Shadows blocked I Scream Clone (success) The Infected used Inertia to try to kill Darth_Legois (not killed, link to the rest of the pack re-established) Svelte investigated eskallon (success, non-infected) Darth_Legois tried to regain link with Zepher (no effect) I Scream Clone tried to kill Black Rabbit (no success, blocked) The Infected used Mr. Mandalorian to block JimButcher (no effect) This Night left me with something of a dilemma, what should I take pictures of. In the end I went with showing ISC being blocked by Shadows, and unintentionally included some clues in the pictures, namely that I forgot to remove the weapon ISC was carrying. Night 4 Shadows blocked Sandy (no effect) The Infected used Inertia to kill Svelte (success) Svelte tried to investigate Shadows (success, but has he was killed right afterwards he couldn't tell anyone) I Scream Clone tried to kill Mr. Mandalorian (not success, blocked) The Infected used Mr. Mandalorian to block I Scream Clone (success) This Night also left me with something of a dilemma, who out of Mandy and ISC succeeded with their night actions? Did a "die roll" (looked up a random number) and as it was an even number it ended up being Mandy that succeeded. Another effect of this Night was that Hinckley became the investigator as he was the backup for that role. Night 5 Shadows blocked pedro (no effect) The Infected used Inertia to kill I Scream Clone (success) The Infected used Mr. Mandalorian to block I Scream Clone (success) I Scream Clone tried to kill Sandy (not success, blocked) Hinckley investigated I Scream Clone (success, non-infected) This night meant the vigilante role passed to stash2sixx, the backup vigilante. Night 6 Shadows tried to block Zepher (not success, Shadows was blocked, but it wouldn't have had any effect either) The Infected used Inertia to kill Shadows (success) The Infected used Sandy to block Shadows (success) Hinckley investigated stash2sixx (success, non-infected, but hardly relevant) stash2sixx killed Zepher (success)
Bob Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 Specialist Niwrad Selrac Responsible for communications aboard the KF Gagarin, you've always done your duties in an orderly fashion. You are not infected. You win when all those pesky alien infected no-goods have been thrown out an airlock or otherwise disposed of. You have no night actions. Please use the included avatar as your avatar for the duration of the game, or at least put it in your signature (but as I hide signatures I'd much prefer you to use it as your avatar to make it easier to keep track of who's playing who) If you have any questions regarding the game, don't hesitate to PM me, good luck. --- I was just a humble non-infected, with no night actions.
pedro Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 My character profile: Nurse Edna Hyrlis "After a wild and party-filled youth with plenty of sexual adventures you eventually sobered up after running away from your home planet fleeing debt and angry ex-boyfriends/girlfriends. You managed to get through nurse school and found a comfortable position aboard the Gagarin as part of the medical staff. You are not infected. You win when all those pesky alien infected no-goods have been thrown out an airlock or otherwise disposed of. You have no night actions." Hence me reminiscing on ex-girlfriends/boyfriends, playing a damsel in distress, and trying to get people to trust me with my feminine guiles! Just wondering Quarryman: what fate befell the traitor Ivan? Would it have been a disturbing scene where the infected gather round and he willingly let's them force a wiener inside him?
The Crazy One Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 I'm considering that. Though, there are other games want to run before a sequel to Infection. So it certainly won't be my next mafia game on EB at least. Now I would sign up for that.
Quarryman Posted December 19, 2009 Author Posted December 19, 2009 Just wondering Quarryman: what fate befell the traitor Ivan? Would it have been a disturbing scene where the infected gather round and he willingly let's them force a wiener inside him? I never even considered showing people being infected, so that's something you'll have to wonder about And my final post of "boring background information that nobody cares about: The character names: (as requested by Dragonator ) Susan Antares - "Susan" from Susan Ivanova in Babylon 5, "Antares" from the comic The Red Star Varax Fraa - "Varax" from a character in the Neal Stephenson novel Anathem, "Fraa" from the same novel, it's a title of a male member of the convents Engofi Cheipo - one of the very few names I came up with on my own Niwrad Selrac - "Carles Darwin" backwards Michael Sheridan - "Michael" from security chief Michael Garibaldi, "Sheridan" from captain John Sheridan, both from Babylon 5 Sarah Ohce - "Sarah" actually from Sarah Kerrigan in StarCraft, "Ohce" was just some random word I came up with. Barney Vance - "Barney" from Barney Calhoun, "Vance" from Eli / Alyx Vance, both from Half-Life (2) Leonard Nyer - another one of my own Fassin Trevlac - "Fassin" from Fassin Taak in the Iain M. Banks novel The Algebraist, "Trevlac" backwards of "Calvert", from the Peter Hamilton novel The Reality Dysfunction La'h'rok - "Kor'h'al" backwards, Korhal is a planet in the StarCraft universe Jad Suur - "Jad" from a character in Anathem, "Suur" is a title of a female member of the convents in that novel Engofi Cheipo - another one of my own S/N: 'AHY6CEF3' (aka DAVE) - just random numbers, but "DAVE" is of course a reference to 2001: A Space Odyssey Khrum & Wicwa - from the character Wickwrackrum in the Vernor Vinge novel A Fire Upon the Deep (from this novel I also got the idea for the alien to be a pack mind) Ivan "the terrible" - it felt natural to include a chef, it also felt natural to name him Ivan, and a bad chef named Ivan would obviously be nicknamed "the terrible" Florentzia Lizar - clearly the most obscure inspiration, named after Lisa Lorentzen, a math professor I had back at university Ada Bergsndot - "Ada" from Ada Lovelace, history's first computer programmer, "Bergsndot" from A Fire Upon the Deep Ernev Seluj - "Jules Verne" backwards, though based on the character Jules Verne from Anathem, not on the author. Ben Elegnem - "Ben" from the doctor Ben Franklin in Babylon 5, "Elegnem" is Mengele backwards, and if that name doesn't mean anything to some of you, go look it up. Edna Hyrlis - "Edna" from nurse Edna in the computer games Maniac Mansion and Day of the Tentacle, "Hyrlis" from opening the book I had closest at hand (the Iain M. Banks novel Matter) on a random page an picking the first name I found on that page.
