ApophisV Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 Hi guys! This is my first post, so i'm really excited! First of all: Welcome aboard! :) I wanna know where i can find pieces and MF for build some Lego army.It could be very nice having a tank or fantry in my Lego town! Do ya have any suggestions? For example set with parts that can suit for my idea? Hi I'd suggest to look at the Dino Attack line (american version of Dino 2010 with weapons), they are the most army-like things TLC has done so far. Also the Exo-Force line might interest you, at least for parts. If you are looking for dark green parts I can sugest you to have a look at those sets: - 10133: Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Locomotive - 4762: Rescue from the Merpeople - 7019: Viking Fortress against the Fafnir Dragon - 7255: General Grievous Chase Especially the last three sets only contain few pieces, but dark green was introduced in 2004, so this color is still new. A better way to get lots of dark green is Bricklink where you can order single parts from private shops allover the world. Hope this helps! ;) Quote
Dragon King Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Also the new batman line has great guns such as a tommy gun. Quote
Sting Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 Also the new batman line has great guns such as a tommy gun. Do you guys think that with the addition of actual guns in Batman line (any good discussion of the addition of modern guns into Lego anywhere?) we may soon see some Military lego lines? Quote
tophdawg Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 i hope that we see an army theme, but it just doesnt seem like something lego would do, becuase it would be too violent Quote
5150 Lego Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 i hope that we see an army theme, but it just doesnt seem like something lego would do, becuase it would be too violent I had asked a simular question in gylman thread about future techinc idea's. http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eurofo...=ST&f=19&t=3690 To me the agrument that itwould be to violent dosen't fly. Lego has plenty of other lines that would be just as violent as a military line. (Castle, Vikings, Dino Attack) Dino attack even has working cannons in there sets. Also, just cause its military/army, doesn't mean it has to be violent. Whats the harm in a tank model? Or a Humvee, Apache helocopter, base camp..you get the idea. There's defenatly a market for it. Do you guys think that with the addition of actual guns in Batman line (any good discussion of the addition of modern guns into Lego anywhere?) we may soon see some Military lego lines? i think it's definitely going into that direction. I think they're trying to find out how far they can go with these realistic weapons/violence. in fact, you can clearly see an evolution in the use of weapond: last year they had the US dino line with lots of weapons, i remember there were many remarks in the community about the violence in the line. Lego even decided to produce a seperate European line without the guns. But i didn't hear any protest anymore after the actual release of the line. I never heard parents say "this is waaaaay too violent for you, you can't get this", in fact, to my knoledge, this dino line sells better than the viking line... Every one just seems to have accepted the dino line... then a new theme took it one step further: exo force, clearly a line to more violence, entirely based on guns, rockets,... this time, lego did not decide to produce two lines, but only one... it seems it will become popular also. and now it seems that the use of violence in lego lines is allowed and so they're taking it another step further: in the batman line, they will no longer use violence on fantasy but on realism... surely one step beyond that is the creation of war line of some kind Quote
KimT Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 We'll never see an army theme. We'll get semi army themes as Exo-Force or Dino-Attack, since they're imaginative. We'll never see a theme in which we get camouflaged modern infantry, Abrams Tanks or F-16's. LEGO won't go that far. We just gotta work with what we got and get |-/ KimT Quote

KimT Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 Er...yes...but that is not an "army theme" is it? It's a designer set. What I meant was that we'll never see a theme featuring modern military minifigs and minifig sized vehicles and planes! We'll have themes for play and imagination like Vikings, Castle, Dino Attack and Exo-Force but never a modern war theme with suicidal bombers, SEAL teams, Nukes, Jet fighters and the like... KimT you're right, it's not an army theme. however, there used to be a time when the company was categorically against any form of violence. All classic space ships for instance, weren't warplanes or fighters to fight weird creatures or other minifigs, but science vessels, transport ships... now the element of violence is all over the place. Castle is even worse... Can you honestly say "they'll never do it"? i can see a moment when lego tells the public: "Fierce competition forces us to explore new paths. We need to take back market share by producing products that young boys want. And they want militairy stuff..." Quote

KimT Maybe the dino line is a look into the future for lego. Maybe there also using it to see peoples reaction to having weapons in lego. I still don't see the argument of "military would be to violent" standing. Not with what they curently offer. And why can't there be any imagination in an army theme? Also, i you don't have to have it a "theme". You could have maybe a designer, or techinc tank or plane. Nothing wrong, or violent there. Quote
ApophisV Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 now the element of violence is all over the place. Castle is even worse... Yeah, I think so too. When I build my 8801 - Knight's Attack Barge I had to think of those small landing ships from "Saving Private Ryan"... Scary! 8-| Quote

I just don't think LEGO'll ever do contemporary military minifig scale. They've done some military stuff in designer sets as discussed above. But never anything modern / contemporary. I'd love it if they did - but I don't think they'll ever do so :( KimT Quote
