Forresto Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 It's finally that time of year again, Winter. With that comes snow, unfortunatly not so much for my area of Washington DC which it barely snows in . I was quite excited to hear that we're going to get a huge snowstorm. 15-20 inches actually . This is extremely bizarre for my city which has freaky aweather patterns. I just wanted to make this topic so that Americans could have a "snow day" like topic. sorry if this is'nt allowed Quote
JCC1004 Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I'm supposed to get 2-4 inches tomorrow. I hope it's not too sever because I got to go to my grandmother's to celebrate Christmas with my aunt, uncle, and cousin form Logan Ohio. I hope I don't have to get the shovel out. Quote
Cwetqo Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 It's also snowing in Central Europe (Slovenia)! 20cm (around 8inches) so far and still snowing heavily. Quote
Inconspicuous Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I'm jealous of snow, but I'm sure it must be a pain for those of you caught in huge storms. I think it's only snowed once in the last 5-7 years out here where I live in California, and I couldn't even remember it! Is the snow fun or a chore? Quote
Cwetqo Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 It's fun if it falls like today, on saturday morning and you don't have to anywhere. So, you can take your time and clean it without rush, chat with neighbours and so on. And when you are finished you can take the needed rest, drink a tea and then on the evening you go on a walk and enjoy the scenery. If it falls on let's say monday morning, then it's quite another story: you have to get up at 6 in the morning, shovel it for an hour or more and then you have just the time for a quick shower befo you hurry to work (you need twice the time on a day like this). But it's christmas time and it's good that we have snow, no matter what troubles it will cause us. (im just building Technic Snow Groomer to take care of it ) Quote

Right now my cats are going crazy running around the house trying to understand all the fluffy white stuff falling to the ground. It's pretty funny. Quote
CP5670 Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 There isn't much snow here in NJ yet. It's supposed to pile up more tonight. My parents in the DC area say it's a lot worse there. I don't need to go anywhere next week so I don't care about it either way. It's a good time to be building. Quote

I can't even see the road from my window that's how much it's snowed so far. That's why we have Legos right Quote
Scouty Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 By now, the snow in Philadelphia is already more than a foot! Biggest and best snow storm I've seen since a while ! Quote
quietworkshop Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Hmm...I love snow. I lived in New York City for a good twelve years and it hardly ever snowed much. If I was still living there, I would be excited! I'd take my Nikon and go for a long, long walk! But it's probably not going to snow as much as they say it will... For now I'm living in Western NY (think Lake Ontario [Great Lakes] ) and it snows quite a bit here! I love it. It sounds nutty but I love to shovel snow, haha. I don't mind driving in it, either - just put new tires on my 4WD, so I'm good. It's the other drivers that worry me! Sure, you can go fast , but can you stop? People drive too close/too fast/etc and it creates trouble. I pulled two people out of ditches/roadsides last winter! Here's a shot I took last February... Quote
prateek Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 I wish we had snow in Toronto. It's funny because it snowed in Texas before it snowed in Toronto. After the first snowless November in 70 years, it snowed 10 cm on December 1, but after that, there hasn't been more. The worst part is that it melted and froze so all we have is ice on the ground. It's kinda sad because I want at least a bit of snow for Christmas. Quote
JimBee Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 The Midwest already got a few inches a couple of weeks ago, and maybe and inch or so more this week. I'm glad there wasn't been much this year, I absolutely HATE snow. It's a pain to shovel (especially when it's wet or frozen), it turns black after while, and slipping on ice is no fun. It's also dangerous, whether you're driving in a snowstorm or getting hit in the face with a snowball ( ). If I had it my way, there would be a few inches of light, fluffy snow on Christmas, and that would be it for the year. Quote
Dennimator Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 We have around 10 cm of snow currently. It´s around 3 or so years since we got some "acceptable" snow in south Sweden, so I´m happy... mostly. I took some SW Diorama pics out in my garden with real snow, but when I was finished taking the pics I forgot one of the Snowtrooper figs outside. When I found out I had forgotten it, it had snowed too much to find it again... Oh well, at least it was in the garden, so I´ll probably find it, sooner or later. Quote
LEGOMAN132 Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Here in Wasington state we get snow then rain haha. Quote

I'll take a picture of mr driveway this winter when we get a good storm and then we'll see who's jealous So far it's been pretty mild but it'll get worse. Quote
Wout Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 Here in the Netherlands there is also more snow than normal. Around 22 cm in my garden. I cannot go to my work tomorrow because the busses and trains are not riding or to late. It will maybe the first white christmas since 1981. Good idea to make Sw Hoth pics! Quote
The Penguin Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 (edited) Yep, winter this year is really good! ) Here, in Mother-Russia, we've experienced some nice snowstorms recently! Some 25 cm of snow, -25C, chaos on roads, even the bears felt somewhat cold! Br-r-r-r-r-r! ) And I haven't yet bought a winter hat! Good day, ladies and gentlemen! ) Edited December 23, 2009 by The Penguin Quote
Erdbeereis Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 It's actually raining here today. I've never seen rain in December in Nebraska. Usually it's only cold enough for snow. It's supposed to snow again tomorrow though. Quote
Ratshot Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Its snowing like crazy here in New Brunswick. Were expecting up to 20cm by Christmas morning. Quote
Big Cam Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Great, I spoke too soon, we are supposed to get 10-15 inches of snow over Christmas, maybe i won't be driving 4 hours home this year . Quote
MrTools Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Im glad that its snowing, but it started a little too soon and my brothers flight home from his was delaed a few days and missed my birthday. Quote
Big Cam Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 Well I've been snowed in for almost 2 straight days now, we have gotten over 20 inches of snow and it's so windy that we have 10 foot drifts of snow. I'm ready to leave my Mother in Laws and go home, I'm bored and my LEGO's are at home. Quote
Alex the Great Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 I live In Ontario Canada and we've had about no snow at all, it snowed a few weeks ago. And there is still some of it on the ground, but thats because it turned to ice right after it snowed. It's funny how all the Americans are getting snow and I'm not. Quote
Big Cam Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 The midwest is looking at 6 inches of snow and nasty wind again. it's been snowing all day and tonights low with the wind chill is suppsoe to be -30F. Time to build some LEGO. Quote
JCC1004 Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 I just got done clearing about 6 inches of light powdery snow. It got real thick. I'm extremely exhausted. Most of the schools were closed. Quote
