I'll agree that it has a greater color variety, and it does look cool; I guess the molded ray does look more like an eagle ray, but it still seems strange, like it would be if they went back to brick-built horses.

After looking at it for a bit, I really don't like how the small wheeled vehicle is so close to the ground. I would think the sea floor to be pretty rugged and a higher vehicle body would help a bit more.

Thanks. I didn't remember the name for that color. In fact, there are only two pieces apart from visors : the windshield,

this one.

Aren't the headlights on the vehicles that same color too?

The green translucent is an all new Lego color introduced with Atlantis.

Oh, that explains why it looked so strange to me. Thanks for the info, Front. Do you know if it will replace the old trans neon green? I prefer the old one as it has a certain glow to it.

Btw, according to the German 2010 catalog, the personalities of the crew members are a bit different than they have been portrayed here. Jim, the guy with the eye patch, is actually the captain of this ship, but you were right about him being the tough guy. Fish, the guy with the glasses is a biologist and a bit clumsy. And Alex, the one you call "the trainee" is actually the slob on the team who does the dirty work. The real "noob" on the Atlantis team is Bobby, the guy in Guardian of the Deep with the stupid smile.

Why would they make a brick-built manta ray when there's already a one piece stingray mold? I suppose it's because this isn't a regular stingray; it's the manta ray, right?

And now, new propaganda from Copenhagen. Stop polluting the seas otherwise you will turn to this ! It does not feel in great health.

I like the shape of that carrier, though I'm not really interested in Atlantis, and especially not in those weird "fish men"...

Thanx for the review, This ship is HUGE (for my standards) and it's price seems great, though I more than likely will not get it.

The cockpits are a new color *huh* that seems ridiculous!

Why would TLC do that *aside from making a color that works with red better than trans neon *take that M-tron

I hope the color is close enough to trans neon green that it looks fine in future Blacktron mocs.

on an unrelated note I love the Manta and the Manta Warrior!

The Green really is a striking color. I was a huge aquanauts fan back in the day, I'm curious what Lego will do in year 2 of the theme, if they do anything at all... I keep hearing rumors of a temple set, which makes sense as its in the art in some of the instructions... I just hope those disc-keys don't become something like a collect em all series like bionicle masks did...

There is information on the subject in the 2010 Atlantis Topic

This set looks great! I love the features and overall shape of the Carrier.

Great review. Although I fail to see what makes the technic panels crappy.

On the mini Neptune Carrier from brickmaster, the wing thingies are huge... I find it rather off scale to this, but it's still a nice little set.

Thanks for the review! This is probably the 30th review now to note the new 3-stud-studless plate and the 1X1 brick with a stud on the side!

Nice review!

great review. i don't have much interest in Atlantis whatsoever (though i love the minifigs), but this set looks really sweet. if i get any Atlantis stuff, it'll be this.

Great review! Thanks for all of the great pictures and good angle shots.

The Atlantis sets haven't really interested me, but when I saw this set at Target the other night I was intrigued and though about purchasing it. My intrigue quickly vanished though when I saw the price. I agree this set is way, way, way overpriced. I don't mind paying higher prices for licensed sets, because I feel the high price is justified by the licensing fee LEGO has to cover. But when I see the same high price on a set from an in-house theme, I just put the set down and wait for the inevitable sale.

This is obviously the best Atlantis set... shame, it's too expensive for me. :/

Great review! To me, this set summarizes all of Atlantis's best qualities- very good SNOT techniques, interesting vehicles, cool monsters, and awesome minifigs.

This set does not do it for me. I think the playabilty of this set could have been DRASTICALLY increased with just a little cost. If they had widened the main ship hull by about 4 studs (two per side), that would have made the internal science area 6 studs wide, isntead of 4 studs wide. Seriously, this needs to happen. You can barely squeeze the minifigs in there, and thats just wrong.

This sub could have been fantastic, but I think that TLG went high on design, rather than playabilty. Yeah it looks good, but its really too small a scale for what it represents.

If I ever find these on sale, I may buy one and the MOC Mod it to be wider.

The more that I look at the Atlantis sets, the more I think that the minifigs are nicer, but the sets themselves dont hold up to the old Aquazone sets.

This a great review, I definitely want this set, sadly they (Atlantis) don't hit Aussie stores until March 2010 but I may order some sets fom lego shop online.

And one question how much room is there in the lower deck, how many divers can sit in there without too much squishing and is there any room/storage for flippers

Once again fantastic review!!!

Hey im just wondering, is that stingray supposed to be 1 of the Guardians? Because it comes with the design

stickers.

I imagine it is, especially since it seems to be a sort of a "sidekick" to the manta man.

Yes.

Definitely a set worth getting. The end result is a cool sub. Haven't built it in a while, so I can't comment on the build. But, it was one set I kept built and on display since I bought it when it originally came out.
