Natman8000 Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 Anyone here like the NHL? (national hockey league) If so, what team? I like the Panguins, I've always been a big fan. You got to love the team, so many stars like Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. I'm sure Does anyone have any ideas as to who will be in the cup this year? I'm personally thinking Nashville and LA are the best contenders. What do you all think? Quote
prateek Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 I like hockey, but for some reason, I am following it more this season. I like the Leafs and it would be nice to see them in the playoffs. I'm surprised Phoenix and LA are doing well. Quote

They have some good players like Phil Kessel, but it ends there. Pheonix is good because of Ilya Bryzgalov, he is one of the best goalies in the league IMO. Quote

I was watching Phoenix vs. Toronto on Wednesday and I saw how good Phoenix's structure was, they weren't allowing the Leafs players to get in near the goalie. It was painful to watch as a Leafs fan, but I just couldn't turn it off. Quote
JeffD984 Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 I'm a huge fan of probably one of the most loathed teams in the league, the Anaheim Ducks. The Leafs don't seem to be too far out of the playoff picture, they only need 4 points to get the eighth seed. What's funny is how interconnected the teams are. Ducks have Ryan Whitney now and Pens have Kunitz. While the Leafs have Burke, our former GM; Francois Alaire(Don't think I spelled that right), our former goalie coach; and Beuchemin, one of our former defencemen. As far as Finals, from the west I see Chicago, Nashville, Calgary, and Detroit(never count them out) all having equal chances of representing the Western Conference. But the east I don't get to see too many games and would just have to say Devils, Pens, and Capitals. Of course the trade deadline will play the biggest factor in what happens in the coming months. Deinonychus Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 I'm a huge fan of probably one of the most loathed teams in the league, the Anaheim Ducks. As a die-hard San Jose Sharks fan..I hope you die a horrible icy death In addition to the Sharks, I'm also a long-time fan of the Pens...it it was especially sweet last year watching them defeat the hated Red Wings to win Lord Stanley's Cup Quote

They are so annoying, and no one likes them. Except people from detroit. The Sharks are good, but they always choke in the playoffs. Haha, last they lost to Anaheim. I can see why you dislike them. I was going to comment on their perennial chokeability, but Natman beat me to it! Maybe this year...not holding my breath though! Quote
Deinonychus Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Well, they seem as if they know what they're doing. I was furious before the season started watching so many good players go, but it hasn't seemed to hurt them at all so far. Seemingly they have a good formula going now, so I took back all the nasty things I said about them back in September And my man Marleau got his stuff together after having the C stripped from him and is currently sitting at 25 goals for the season, which is good by any measure. Marleau is probably my favorite Shark. It's always nice to see him do well and I am very glad the Sharks didn't trade him. Heatley is a prime talent in the NHL and the Sharks did have to give up quite a bit to get him, the biggest names being Michalek and Ehrhoff. Heatley's had a good year so far this year, but will he be what the Sharks need to get over the hump in the playoffs? That's the million dollar question in San Jose. Quote

THat is really true, especially since they probably will be seeing a good team like LA or Phoenix, and that is going to be a good series. I cant wait to see tonights game too, Washington- San j. I think Washington will win, I hope Ovie beats Gaborik to the top of the scoring leaders. Then again, I wouldn't mind seeing crosby come up on top too, I'm hoping for a win over the devils. Quote

Marleau, Heatley, and Thorton all got picked for the Canadian Olympic team, which tells us that these guys are really good. I have no ieda how each of them are doing, except for Thorton, since I'm in Toronto. I'm surprised Green from the Capitals didn't get picked for the Olympics, he's the most scoring defenceman in the NHL Quote
Destroydacre Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Just thought I'd revive this given that the NHL regular season concluded today. The Sharks got the 1st seed in the West thanks to Detroit beating Chicago this afternoon and play Colorado in the first round. Did your team make the playoffs? Any predictions? I may post some later on. Quote
prateek Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Hmmm.... Interesting season for sure. I'm happy for the Coyotes and Blackhawks, but I would've preferred NY Rangers instead of Philadelphia. Quote
dr_spock Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 It's going to be a tough one for the Montreal Canadiens against the Capitals. The Habs just barely squeak into the playoffs. Quote

Ratshot Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 The sens got beat last night 2-1, what a bum rat I was hoping they could a 2-0 series lead, I've got a feeling that the Pens are going to win. Quote

prateek Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Good job Habs. I'm sad that Phoenix didn't win, but now we (mostly I) will wait for the team to move back to Canada Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 San Jose is going to crush Detroit! Go Sharks! Quote
