cagri Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 I have 4 images on Flickr that I want to replace. I added a couple of parts to my MOC and I want to show the new version. But I don't want to delete the original files, I jsut want to replace them. If I delete them, the comments will disappear and I want to keep them. Is it possible?? Quote
Big Cam Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 You will have to rename the files before you load them to flickr. But even then you cannot transfer the comments. Unfortunetaly to my knowledge there is no way to simply update an image, in flickr's eyes, it's a new image everytime you upload something. I would create a set for it and put your new ones and old ones in there. Quote
SlyOwl Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 On a Flickr Pro account, there is a button which enables this to happen, but without one it's impossible, to my recollection. I'd recommend sticking the new photos on Brickshelf, and then linking to them in a note around the changed parts on the original on Flickr. Quote

I have a flickr pro account and I just clicked edit photo, and you can edit the photo in terms of adding fun stuff to it, or red eye reduction, but you can't reload a new picture in it's place and retian the comments. It is a fun tool though. Sorry cagri, no help. Quote
VBBN Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 There is no way to replace the file, you will need to upload a second of the photo. Comments cannot be transfered, but you can ask the people to repost them. Quote
Ricecracker Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 (edited) I have a flickr pro account and I just clicked edit photo, and you can edit the photo in terms of adding fun stuff to it, or red eye reduction, but you can't reload a new picture in it's place and retian the comments. Actually, SlyOwl is right. As you can see in the following screenshot, if you have the image open, and scroll down, you'll see some facts about the image. At the bottom there is a button that says "replace." While I have never actually tried this, I think it is what you're looking for. EDIT: I just tried this quickly, and it does keep the comments. I haven't checked about faves, view counts or notes yet, or whether it stays in explore, though. Edited December 22, 2009 by Ricecracker Quote
cagri Posted December 22, 2009 Author Posted December 22, 2009 Thank you very much all, I should have checked Flickr help first :) Can I replace my photos and keep the comments and tags and stuff?Yes! If you have a pro account, you can replace a single photo at a time. On the individual photo page, click the "Replace this photo" link below the Additional Information heading on the right side. The title, description, comments, notes, tags, groups and favorites associated with the original photo will be kept. As of April 20, 2007, replacing an image will change the image file name. Please note that this will "break" any photo that has been blogged elsewhere as the image file will have a new URL. I don't have a pro account so it won't work for me. I'll try to upload additional images and change dates.. Thanks for the help! Quote
