The Green Brick Giant Posted December 26, 2009 Author Posted December 26, 2009 None of these look like racecars but random vehicles. Which little boys love! :-p Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 As with Hero Factory, World Racers is either going to fly or crash and burn. It appears there will still be the standard racer sets and these too - a seperate theme - OMG how many themes can Lego have in a year ! Quote
badboytje88 Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 Humn.... If the minifigures are nice, I might pick up some of these. I'm not a fan of racers though... Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted December 26, 2009 Author Posted December 26, 2009 OMG how many themes can Lego have in a year ! There isn't that many, LEGO is just replacing the old with the new. Kingdoms is Castle, this is probably instead of Agents aka a new "action" theme, PoP will replace IJ. Frankly LEGO should make as many themes as they like, we will all just go bankrupt. Quote
tin7_creations Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 The pictures look interesting; but until I see the minifigs clearly, I'll reserve judgment on these sets. They look like a combination of Speed Racer and Agents; I'm hoping that LEGO would release some new faces and headpieces with these sets though. ~tin7 Quote
Markypops Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 I think it's funny that they would release a line with weird race vehicles after their racing line was just out.None of these look like racecars but random vehicles. It will be interesting to see how this line pans out. I think the idea behind the line is that the racers race in different places around the world and in doing so need different vehicles to do so. For example snow/ice, water, sand etc., so hence the reason for hovercraft, snowmobiles, boats and cars etc. Quote
prateek Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Hmm... This looks interesting. I can't wait to see better pics from the ToyFair, or sooner. Quote
sok117 Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 I think the story line will be that there is a race around the world and at each event you need to get a trophy because there is a trophy in each set, The team with the most trophys takes the prize (whatever that may be), but it look as though the black/red team are the bad guys, they just sort of give off that sort of vibe. I will surely go out of my way to buy some of these, they look like they have a lot of unique pieces, building techniques, and they will surely offer a lot of playability, this looks like an awesome line. COMBAT RACING > racers without minifigures World racers = EPIC WIN Quote
Aanchir Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 The concept of a racing theme with a story, along with the crazy designs, reminds me of Drome Racers. I like that; Drome Racers gave us some great parts in great colors as well as some great media (I really wish I had paid more attention to the online games, etc.), and hopefully this will do the same. Quote
prateek Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 I'm really liking that motorcycle set. Hopefully it's less than $20 Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted January 7, 2010 Author Posted January 7, 2010 ^ That one should be $11. It's it's more LEGO really has lost it. Quote
The Cobra Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 And here are the (supposed, Italian) prices for this theme too (still courtesy of an Italian online store) 8863 Sfida al circolo polare artico = 66.99 (Challenge at the Arctic Cricle) 8864 Scontro nel deserto = 85.99 (Face-off in the desert) 8896 Testa a testa nel canyon = 9.99 (Nip and tuck in the Canyon) 8897 Duello sulle onde = 19.99 (Duel on waves) 8898 Confronto su strada = 29.99 (Head to head on the road) 8899 Competizione in palude = 39.99 (Swamp competition) Man, I kind of get from this names it's all gonna be about challenges! And these prices are in Euros? And a Euro is about 1.4 USD.... *does some calculations in head* Yikes. I hope that LEGO is doing its typical rip off the Europeans thing again (no offense), because if they aren't, they're not selling ANYTHING from this line in the states. $14 for a pair of motorcycles, a trophy, and a snake? Nuh-uh. Quote

Peppermint_M Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 So, I know I will buy the motorcycles for certain. I know I will likely buy the smallest to medium sized sets if they are sold in supermarkets. As for the rest of it, it'll have to have some awesome torso prints, cool new minifig heads and printed helmets (I love them) for me to spend money on. This looks like it will work out popular. Every generation seems to have some sort of crazy racing thing. This one will fit for a while. Quote
RocketClone Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 I like the fact that theres "actually" minifigures in a racers theme this time, but IMO i dont think that this is like the old RACERS theme from 2000 (i believe) like people say it is. Quote

What older Racer theme are you talking about? There have been so many? The theme with the half a minifigure and the pull back motors? Quote
WhiteFang Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 These are the official set names (I believe) for the World Racers, 8863: Blizzard's Peak 8864: Desert of Destruction 8896: Snake Canyon 8897: Jagged Jaws Reef 8898: Wreckage Road 8899: Gator Swamp Quote

Quote
Algernon Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 I'm actually quite interested in this theme. Quote
sok117 Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 I can't wait for the toyfair to see better pictures of these, I think the head gear on one of the figs in the blizzard one uses a space police helmet. I also think that the guys on yellow vehicles are like referees. Quote
VBBN Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 I'm liking these, Kinda Like Agents in a way the more I see them. Quote
Svelte Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Kris Abel's pics of the World Racers sets at the Canadian Toy Fair available here: http://krisabel.ctv.ca/post/2010-LEGO-Cana...acers_subP.aspx Quote
prateek Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 I had no idea there was a Canadian Toy Fair. These sets are looking really cool, with nice pieces and new torsos. I want to see the motorcycle set though, because that's the only set I'm probably going to get out of this line. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 From these new pictures these remind me a lot of those racing/clashing sets from the early 2000s. There was the tiger guy, blue rhino, girl with green hair, red scorpion guy. These look like a rehash of that to me, and I never liked those so I don't like these much either. Some of the vehicles (like the ones with wheels) look alright, and the color scheme is nice, supplying parts in rarer colors. The use of the new Hoth visor is cool too, but I predict this as another one-wave-wonder. Quote
