hhcBrick Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 I quite like the new six stud wide design for Lego lorries as it allows a bit more detail, so I've been trying to update some four stud wide designs. I preferred the older yellow refuse collection truck (6693) to the new one (7991) so I thought I'd scale it up a bit to match the new lorry size. I've attached some images, cheers Alec Quote
Milan Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Cool size and color! You should maybe separate cabin from box by half stud. I do not know if this vehicle could be practical in city streets, due to its size. Nice work! Quote
paul_delahaye Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 I think a truck of this size needs a twin bin lifter on the back end Quote
Rick Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Cool size and color! You should maybe separate cabin from box by half stud. I do not know if this vehicle could be practical in city streets, due to its size. Nice work! This was about what I was going to say... You should indeed separate the cabin from the rest of the truck somehow and I think a half- or whole-stud (like in the official Lego Garbage Truck) distance would work best in this case. Quote
Grrr Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 I agree with seperating the cab and the bin. Also; I think the 1 stud high red stripe of the original 6693 might help break the expanse of yellow on this one. A good moc none-the-less. I'm doing the opposite with my modern trucks, making them 4 or 5 studs wide. Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Very nice! With an eye on detail. I also agree seperating the cabin, it makes it less look like a caterpillar. Perhaps adding some workers carrying the trashbins to the truck? Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 Ditto Ditto on the cab to container spacing, apart from that it's sweet ! Great use of colours, the 1980's into the 2000's (almost 2010's soon) fantastic ! Wish Lego would redesign 1980's style sets and do a total update of them all, it would be cool ! Great work, 'Hhcbrick' ! Quote
hhcBrick Posted December 25, 2009 Author Posted December 25, 2009 Thanks for the feedback. I agree on adding a gap behind the cab, I thought half a stud was enough. I just managed to get time to take a photo while I was taking some shots of the Christmas table. Sadly the Lego man didn't clear up after lunch. Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 That's better, 'Hhcbrick', looks more realistic now - great work again ! I hope you have a great Christmas and that minifig enjoyed his Christmas dinner. Quote
BlueBard Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 So nice MOC/MOD! It's really nice how you've updated the old model, making it more realistic, as lightningtiger says. Quote
