Posted December 29, 200915 yr Just for the record, I HATE KK2, and never had any sets from that line. But I know the main "villain" there is named "Lord Vladek". What's so funny about that? Well, I would imagine to an English speaking person, who has never heard a name like "Vladek", it can sound very mysterious, maybe even evil... but, guess what? In Polish, the name Władek (pronounced, "Vwahdek") is like a super generic name, one that makes me think of some drunken bum! Edited December 29, 200915 yr by Mörs
December 29, 200915 yr It's true! Me and a friend of mine (who's also a LEGO fan) are both of Polish descent and we always have a good chuckle the Lord Vladek name because of the way it sounds in Polish. Its the equivalent of naming a villain "Lord Steve" or "Lord Dave" in English, it just doesn't sound that imposing.
December 29, 200915 yr Author OK, what is KK2? Knights' Kingdom 2, AKA the Jelly Bean Knights, AKA the worst Castle line ever. Me and a friend of mine (who's also a LEGO fan) are both of Polish descent So many Poles here... I don't feel unique anymore!
December 29, 200915 yr Knights' Kingdom 2, AKA the Jelly Bean Knights, AKA the worst Castle line ever. you forget: medieval Power Rangers
December 30, 200915 yr The Jelly Bean Knights lol I like the name. Why were they called the Jelly Bean Knights?? Ot's even funnier then Brickbeard the Pirate's name. Edited December 30, 200915 yr by Grimmy
December 31, 200915 yr The Jelly Bean Knights lol I like the name. Why were they called the Jelly Bean Knights?? Ot's even funnier then Brickbeard the Pirate's name. Because of the bright colors of their armor. That's funny about Vladek, I just thought it was a name LEGO made up, like the names of the other characters in the theme.
December 31, 200915 yr I hate kk2, they're armour looks terrible, that is actually sorta funny about the vladek name. Worst line of castle
December 31, 200915 yr That is a nice little bit of trivia! I like the analogy of Lord Dave or Lord Steve :) Incidentally in the realm of Polish name trivia: Our Irish police (Gardaí) recorded a particularly common Polish name when recording traffic offences here, but it wasn't Vladek. It was a Mr. Prawo Jazdy. The Gardaí were reading the wrong line from Polish driving licences, and faithfully recording the name as Prawo Jazdy - the Polish for "driving licence". Ooops! Ha ha ha ha!! I feel for you Irish people having to deal with all those Polish invaders... Oh! I just remembered a joke about Polish immigrants in Ireland: A poll has recently been conducted in Ireland, asking various people the question, "Do you consider the large presence of Polish immigrants in Ireland to be a problem?". These were the results: - 23% of people answered: "Yes, it is a very serious problem!" - ...while 77% said, "To absolutnie żaden problem!" [Polish for, "That's not a problem at all!"]
December 31, 200915 yr That is a nice little bit of trivia! We even won the IgNobel Prize for Literature for that this year. Um... that was not reported in Irish newspapers, as far as I know. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/8290549.stm I think I vaguely remember seeing those KK2 knights in shops, now that I've checked them out on Bricklink. Yeah, they were... entertaining.
December 31, 200915 yr ;o) Polaks Rule!, I hate KK2 overall, It was only a good opportunity to get weapons and other castle pieces...... Vladek... hehe Edited December 31, 200915 yr by Legorski
January 1, 201015 yr ;o) Polaks Rule!, I hate KK2 overall, It was only a good opportunity to get weapons and other castle pieces...... Vladek... hehe Agreed. I did not buy any sets from this line even for the weapons.
January 1, 201015 yr I know almost everyone hates KK2 because of the Jelly Bean Knights and the over juniorization, but I gotta give props to some things about it. We got beautifully printed pieces, shields, some torsos and some armors (thanks to the JB Knights) we got unique face guards (thanks again to the JB Knights)
January 1, 201015 yr With as much as I despise the Jellybean Knights, I've at least found uses for some of the breastplates (colours can come in handy sometimes)
January 3, 201015 yr you forget: medieval Power Rangers Hahahah Medieval Power Rangers. Niiice maybe an idea for a new moc?
January 5, 201015 yr hmmm... I'm probably the only one that likes these knights? I always thought of these colored armors as festivity armor... Good faces and nice sets. Stanley KBrick
January 6, 201015 yr hmmm... I'm probably the only one that likes these knights? I always thought of these colored armors as festivity armor... Good faces and nice sets. Stanley KBrick I also do appreciate many sets of KK2
January 6, 201015 yr As said before I actually like some of the sets. They were good for pieces and vldaks men actually looked pretty good. One of the best sets is vldaks dark fortress which has loads of useful parts and is actually pretty good so for all of you saying they were crap because of the jellybean knights think about other things. Anyway interesting fact about the dark lord himself. (No not KimT)
