Forresto Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 One of my earliest memories growing up is playing with my dad, building different scenarios with my plastic army men. Be it bugs or the tan I would just spend hours leading my little green soldiers against their foes. In fact the earliest video games I ever played was 3DO's plastic army men series which I really enjoyed. Now a days I still have a small collection of army men but in general most of my collection is gone. When I first saw that Lego was doing a set that had Plastic army men I just could'nt control myself. After I inevitbly bought a set (could'nt afford two ), I could'nt put them away. After a while I realized that two things were missing, first there were no sets with any tan soldiers. That was beyond my capabilities (if anyone out in the community tries I would love to see it). Secondly there was no tank. Since the last thing is very important to any modern army I decided to build the creation I present to you now. The Tank Machine gun Dynamite Bomber Don't pretend you have'nt once done this before The convoy Make sure to check out the gallery on brickshelf for more pics Link Thank you and all comments good or bad are most welcome Quote
prateek Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Yes! I think we need a tank like this, and for being for the army men is a bonus. I also love the machine gun! Quote
General Armendariz Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 The tank is great! and it looks exactly like how it would look if you buy those plastic armymen Dynamite BomberDon't pretend you have'nt once done this before I've done that Quote
I Scream Clone Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 A nice creation in a colour where there isn't a lot of pieces for vehicles. Great stuff. Quote
Forresto Posted December 31, 2009 Author Posted December 31, 2009 Thank you guys for the comments! @Prateek: I'm glad you like it and the machine gun was actually just a lucky tablescrap. @General Armendariz: Thank you. I did it once I think but one thing I did a couple times was melting a soldier or two in the oven. @I Scream Clone: Tanks and that was really the main problem when I built the tank. There is'nt very many green pieces useful in building vehicles, especially when making one in a solid color. Quote
Justin Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Dynamite BomberDon't pretend you have'nt once done this before Thank you and all comments good or bad are most welcome It's a Combat Carl! LOL! Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Is the tank meant to be a Sherman,, yours has too thick a barrel. That's all that's stopping this being a really cool MOC, apart from the barrel I love it ! The machine gun is very clever ! Oh, yeah no wonder he doesn't look happy - TNT strapped to his back and what about the medic with a pistol - if he can't help you he'll put you out of your misery ! :skull: Great work 'Forresto' and have a happy new year ! Thank you a lot and have a happy new year also! It was not neccesarily meant to be a Sherman but more like this Link . Kind've the basic, classic tank look. I will probably will work on the tank though since the barrel is probably too big. I've never made a tank in Lego, at least a not non Star Wars one . Cheers! Edited January 1, 2010 by Forresto Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Fantastic! I've always wanted to make a LEGO tank, but never tried. I love the thought of a green tank to go with the Toy Story soldiers, and this one is a great. I also like how you pictured the soldiers with the trees/landscape. Nice job! Quote
Selander Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Reading my history books I've heard a lot about the red army. (from former Soviet union) But now you presented the environmental friendly "green army" Quote
saberwing Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 (edited) Don't pretend you have'nt once done this before I used to do that with this piece. Edited January 1, 2010 by saberwing Quote
Big Cam Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Sadly I think this will be the only green army men set that LEGO makes. I can't really see any other need, I mean unless they include a jump rope for that scene. With that said I'm going to be buying at least ten of these sets. Great tank BTW, it's the right size I think. Quote
VBBN Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Awesome! I suspect a whole line of MOCs could come from this... Quote
Loganwan Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 What fun. I love how MOCs start to show up for stuff just days after the release. Little Green Army Men might last longer than the Toy Story line. :) Quote
Oky Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 Nice MOCs. I too have thought about making some MOCs for the Arny Men. I love the tank and machine gun. But the machine gun is the only one that seems like a real Army Men MOC because it's the only one that's all green. Try to find green solutions for the grey bits here, and the Mocs will be perfect. And yes, the "Dynamite Bomber" does remind of Combat Carl. Quote
Legostein Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 Hello! I think it's a great idea coming up with more MOCs for the subthemes of the Toy Story line. This will bring us more great creations in this forum, like yours. You did an excellent job creation another vehicle for the little green men, even with the more limited parts variety in green colour. Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
Forresto Posted January 2, 2010 Author Posted January 2, 2010 (edited) Tank you all guys for the comments and views! (oops bad pun there ) @Selander: Yes they are vey enviromentally friendly . Ironicly there is a red plastic army that some company made.Link @saberwing: That is a good piece. @bigcam: I agree that unfortunantly this is probably the only set they make of plastic army men. However they might always make a set with the tan, possibly, hopefully . I am definitley going to be in line for a whole bunch of these sets . @Loganwan: That is funny how people do that . I had a feeling that somebody might do this (Yes i'm parinoid ) so I decided to post this as fast as possible. @Oky Wan Kenobi: I know, I really wanted to make almost everything green on the tank. It's hard though since I really don't have many green pieces. I will deffinatly try fixing that though! It's kind've funny but I did'nt neccesarily mean it to be Combat Carl . It totaly works that way though! I will probably come out later with a helicopter moc and probably an improved Tank. @Legostein:Thank you a lot. I really hope more people build stuff from this wonderful set Lego made! I'm sure somebody will make a better tank then mine but for now I will improve my version. Ras 74 Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 A very good tank for sure. I got surprice how many different pieces there really are in green. Not that I ever build stuff in green though. Quote
def Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 A lovely MOC. I never had army men as a kid, but their color still takes me back. Great use of a simple battle pack. Quote
Ryan_T Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 @General Armendariz: Thank you. I did it once I think but one thing I did a couple times was melting a soldier or two in the oven. Why not magnifying glass? 2. Those commie army men are funny, was checking the section of meat in there, and Found something I've had for a year or 2! Makes me every time i try some though... Another note, Love it! Tank should be all green, but they don't make some of the pieces in that color? Cool anyway! Keep it up! Quote
Delta 38 Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Interesting tank, fits very well with the army men. Quote
Big Cam Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 I finally bought two of these sets and it made me think of this tank, LEGO really needs to make a little green tank like yours. Quote
