Review: 7135 Takanuva

When I first saw pictures, I was really hyped for the Stars. But not Takanuva. He didn't look bad, and still doesn't, but he just seemed bland compared to the others. Why couldn't he have the gold parts? Oh, wait, so that the gold Tahu seems more special. And I'm sure there's something in the storyline that has to do with it. Oh well.

I was at target, and they had him, so I decided to pick him up.

The Canister-

New & Recolored Parts-

There's a decent amount of new parts on Takanuva. Two of the new feet in white, a white armor piece, a gold armor piece, and the mask, which from what I have seen, is ever so slightly lighter than the old silver mask. I believe the white limbs are also new, but I didn't want to remove them because of the chance of snapping joints.

Building Experience- Nothing exciting. Just an agori with some new parts here and there. Although I will say, I quite enjoy building small, simple sets, such as this one.

Complete Set-

Takanuva looks pretty good! The colors, as bland as they are, do work well. I think it's nice to have a set that is just straight up white. The twin staffs are pretty cool, and I like the choice of white nuva shoulder armor on the arms. Also, a huge plus for me, is that you can bend the wrists just enough to have the staffs straight up, while still having the arms straight down.

Just a quick look with the gold armor and mask-

Wow, the new shade of gold is so much better. To be fair, I have grown to like the white with no gold.

My biggest complaint is, just like with Tahu, the inclusion of the 08 matoran head. But on Takanuva, it's much worse. The new Hau was made to "hug" over the head, but Takanuva's mask is the same mold as the old one, so it doesn't look as good. It looks like something is stuck on his face. The eyes are also far apart from the eye holes on the mask. It's not overly unbearable, but it does bug me.

Takanuva's articulation is the standard 9 joints. The shoulders are a little hindered, but it's not a huge problem. You can get him in some nice poses.

Overall- I quite enjoy Takanuva. The review may have sounded like I didn't like him, but I do. The colors work well, as do the twin staffs. The articulation's good, and while I would have like to see a new mask to hug over the matoran head, it's not a huge problem for me. If you have been enjoying the Stars, then pick up Takanuva.

I just wish we has a more creative white set... I mean, I know we had to have a White set that was a Good guy, but why Takky? The first movie was based around him, but a Turaga Nuju or something like that would be much nicer. We already have Tahu, Let's split things up a bit.

Takanuva has been a main character ever since 2001, when he was Matoran Takua. Basically, he had a main role in the first 3 years of the story. He deserves to be a Star.

I really like Takanuva Stars, and will try to get him ASAP. The only thing I didn't like is the silver Avohkii. It kinda stands out from his color scheme. A white Avohkii would be appreciated.

Something I (and a couple folks on BZP) have noticed: if you use the original Takanuva's Nuva armor (including Nuva chest armor) on this one, the head doesn't stick out quite so far (since Nuva armor is so bulky). It takes some customization, and of course as you point out old gold is quite bland compared to new gold, but it seems to me like it'd be good for a nostalgia fix (I don't have any of the Stars yet, so I haven't tried it out for myself).

I agree, though, that the white w/o gold grows on you a bit. My biggest gripe about Takanuva isn't even about the set itself: it's that in his pic in the latest comic's centerfold, he's quite clearly standing amidst snow. Snow! You'd think a light-based backdrop wouldn't be all that difficult-- substituting stars for the falling snow would be a good start.

Good review, but this set isn't that good. It should have at least a bit of gold, or if not that, more silver, like on the shoulder pads. Like Tahu, I think his head is too slouched forward and too low for my liking.

Other than Tahu, this is the only one of the Stars I've really considered getting. I dislike the Av-toran head that causes the hunch-back look though

I just plan on changing out the silver mask and the white armor for his classic gold armor. I don't understand why they haven't released that torso in white, and the Avohkii would look so much better in white, too. Oh well. Here's hoping we get some awesome parts in the new line to do him justice.

I think it's a brilliant set. Bit overpriced though considering it's only the size of and agori/matoran. I got it yesterday and tried to turn it in to gold/white takanuva but I lost one of my gold shoulderpads.

To me Takanuva is a alright set, i do like that they used the Nuva Should in white again in white Buuuuut the only thing i am not going to like is how people are going to use them for and it's something i really hate. Anyways i don't like that there only one Star Armor but it's somewhat okay, the feet well i do like and it fit with the set, The Avohkii i do like that they recolor it into a different type of Silver but i dislike the 08 Matoran Head, Dark Gray Body and Hands do fit and is a lot better then Using Silver. The Staff Weapon is good, don't know why he have two but still good.

Anyway the set to me is alright and i do recommend it.
