Svelte Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 I ordered on Xmas Day and no sign of my order yet! Boo! Actually, as suggested by Sinner, I did contact S@H about combining orders once the sale started and the sales rep replied that orders over $AUD800 are automatically shipped via the Express method. This may account for your speedy delivery, natelite. Worth knowing in future. I'm sceptical though as I've ordered Express in the past and my order status says Standard. Once you go Express, it's hard to go back - sob! It's addictive Quote

Worth knowing in future. yes, that is good to know. thanks! but in 3 days?? that is much faster than even express. i guess maybe DHL has nothing to ship these days. did you manage to combine your order? don't think i will be buying too many lego in the next few months though. i'm all out of moolah. Svelte Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 natelite, I did manage to combine orders, by the time they told me I could they'd done it and my orders had shipped To stick to topic, I was going to forage around to see if any 09 stuff had come in but now I can't leave the house in case DHL arrives! Got enough Mail Vans there? Maybe you could send a flotilla around with my order! But since you insist on taunting us with your haul on Brickshelf - especially the tantalising glimpse of 10193 - I'll taunt you back by showing you what I spent the morning building: Bwahahahahah! Svelte Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 well, the good thing is that you did. i wanted to buy the monster dino (mostly for the power function pieces) but it was too late. I got Monster Dino from K-Mart Chatswood for $75 probably coming up to a year ago... It clearanced quickly. Actually, most expensive set per piece has to be the new Bionicle line, as Mr Mandalorian has pointed out. Eg Berix 8975 - 15 pieces for $AUD10? That is worse than 4999! Quote

Indeed it is; my order was "only" about $700 though... natelite, I did manage to combine orders, by the time they told me I could they'd done it and my orders had shipped Same story here. Do I want to know what you spent on it? Quote
Svelte Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Do I want to know what you spent on it? Including postage, it was more than the Taj, less than the Death Star I think I did OK though, it was via ebay and the seller listed as 'lego vestas' rather than with set number which may have lost her a few bidders. She also underestimated international postage to the tune of GBP 40 if the ParcelPost label was anything to go by but she didn't ask for the extra. I did think about bricklinking the parts but buying from lots of different sellers and then paying the shipping to Australia (not to mention time/ effort quotient) didn't seem justified compared to just buying the damn thing outright! Eilif Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Before Christmas, I had promised my wife and family that with money being a bit tight, I wouldn't be spending alot of cash on LEGO. However, they all agreed that Christmas gift money was exempt from this, so this last weekend I went to the LEGO store to purchase Medeval Market Village. It wasn't in stock so they ordered it for me free of shipping! They also had alot of 2008 sets on sale for 15-30% off, so I picked up Troll Warrior, Skeleton Carriage, Race for the Stolen Treasure and two Exo force mechs whose name escapes me. Added to the MIne Mech, Soldiers Arsenal and Pirate Survival that I recieved the week before, and the City and Castle Advent Calendars that we have been opening all month and this has been a pretty great LEGO Christmas season! Zarkan Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Well, yesterday I was in Walmart, looking for a Bionicle Gali Mistika to finish off my Toa Nuva collection. Instead, I ended up going home with a 2007 King's Castle Siege - all for the small price of $30 dollars. Honestly, I've read so many stories here about awesome lego steals, but this is the first time I've ever gotten a REALLY good deal. Only problem is that I'm broke now, but since my birthday's coming up in a week I'll be fine moneywise. Quote
-JD- Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Got two V-19 torrents for £10 each, reduced from £50, from Woolworths. I now have three. Quote

Bricks Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Yesterday, I bought a court jester from the castle advent calendar and a special clone head, with an misprint. The playe of the eyes are really wrong. So I have an unicat Bricks Quote
A Cross Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I don't know why, but I found two 2009 Droid Gunship on a clearance shelf. Yahoo! After Christmas, I got two Indy sets and a Dwarven Mine on discount, too. Christmas, well actually Black Friday, was good this year. 2x Star Destroyer 2x MTT 2x Castle Seige more Indy, Advent Calendar, Harley's Hammer, and others from K-mart's sale. Why am I tickled when my wife's jaw drops? Quote
Commander Andrew of 501 st Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Bought Loot Island yesterday at walmart. They didn't have any other sets that I was interested in. Still a neat lil set though. Quote
Natman8000 Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 I got the mine mech at target. They werent there the first time I checked the lego aisle. the weird thing is, almost all the lego boxes in the store were crapped up. It looked like a whirlwind went through the store! Quote
darkrebellion Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Well I have a large story about my last buys so lets explain . I went from holidays the whole last week. I went to Arizona I can´t resist looking for some new sets. At the end I don´t found any SW 2009 set . I searched at every TRU and Target and every toy store and found ANY with the exception of the Assassin Droid Battlepack. But fortunately I found some good discounts in other sets I didn´t own yet . First I buy this two impulse sets from TRU: - 8396 Soldier´s Arsenal - 8397 Pirate Survival Both at $6.39 at the totally ripoff TRU prices . Then I went to the Lego Store and purchased this: - 10186 General Grevious at $44.99 - Luke Exclusive Maquette at $19.99 - 3 Keychains (Plo Koon, Asajj Ventress and Rebel Trooper) at $3.49 each - 3 Charmabags (Landspeeder, Slave I and Vader TIE) at $2.49 each - Brick Separate thing at $1.89 - 8015 Assassin Droid Battlepack at $9.99 So I think I left the store with some very good deals but than I visit another TRU and decide to buy the next: - 7680 The Twilight at $69.99 and at the end of the trip I buy this: - 6240 Kraken Attackin at $11.99. Again TRU elevate prices . At the end I feel I make some great purchases . Quote
Ballast Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 I bought the 8294 Excavator for €40, i was looking for something else but i didnt find it. And i just couldnt go home empty handed Would look great though on my Technic collection. Quote
