Ravenxl7 Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 (edited) hmmm... we're only missing one head of house in these sets... Snape for Slytherin, Flitwick for Ravenclaw, McGonagall for Gryffindor; I don't remember who the head of house of Hufflepuff is though... I think it was Prof. Sprout... I would prefer they add more professors and death eaters as opposed to giving us dementors... Yep, it was Pomona Sprout. Too bad she's never got a minifigure, even when they made the greenhouse. Though technically, there's still two not in the sets. The Flitwick figure we're getting is the young one that's the choir teacher (just noticed I should edit it, since we don't know his first name), but it was the older Flitwick that's the head of Ravenclaw house. Though I'm getting a little too specific with that. Still, would have been nice to see the older Flitwick in Lego form. On a side note, didn't think to mention this earlier, but another small detail about the castle set that I'm not a fan of, is Dumbledore's robes. It's less accurate, but I was hoping that they would revert him back to his more pink-ish colored robes for this set. Would tie in better with the video game. Oh well, it's only a slight annoyance, and nowhere near bothersome enough to convince me not to buy the set. Edit: Looking at the one shot of the Burrow set where you can see Bellatrix, Grayback, Harry, Ginny, and Molly, in the background and the upper left portion of the image, is it just me, or is there a picture of a Hermione Granger minifigure on the box? It has a blank face, and you can't see the writing underneath it, but that definitely looks like a Hermione minifigure. Edited February 14, 2010 by Ravenxl7 Quote
Wout Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Some close ups of the figs from this gallery: Does anybody know who that in the Great Hall is? Lookout Fenrir! Harry is weaponed with the Croissant-of Death. I think the person in the great hall next to Dumbledore is Professor Filius Flitwick (played by Warwick Davis) as you see him from Episode 3. Before episode 3 he looks much older with more white hair. Love all sets. Love all new figs Although Hagrids Hut looks very much like the version from 2004 and has just Harry, Ron and Aragog added to, it still looks nice (love the pink umbrella from Hagrid) I just not see his dog. I hope they will make another set with Luna, I'm not that interrested in the train. Dobby's release is a bit less for me. Other new sets looks very nice. Quote
SuperChris Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Yeah, all we need now is a Sprout figure and we have all the heads of houses. It still confuses me why they didn't release her with the Greenhouse in 2007. Also, still no Ravenclaw/Hufflepuff uniform. Ah well, there is always the next waves of sets . Quote
Clone OPatra Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 New, clearer pictures coming on FBTB's photostream. There are pics of inside the hut, and once they upload them I'm sure we'll see more of everything. Super! Quote
gusmoore17 Posted February 14, 2010 Author Posted February 14, 2010 Mixed up feelings!! Pros: 1. They're kind of general, in fact I LOVE the way even the 5th and 6th parts of the series are inserted in 1st to 4th years. 2. MINIFIGS! awesome, no one has noticed yet Flitwick's minifig in the Great Hall?! Also, Mr Filtch and Mrs Norris, New McGonagall, dementors, the trio's new look (loving ron's 4th movie hair style), Bellatrix, the Weasleys, even Fenrir Greyback, Lucius, Dobby....well, those new minifigs and changes are really excellent! 3. Hogwarts Castle, which I think has nothing to do with the 2nd and 3rd castles, but actually it's about mixing the 1st one with some scenery of the Chamber of Secrets' wave. What I mean is: a. New Great Hall building design, which IMO is waaaaay better than that stupid paper roof of the 1st castle, also the interior it's excellent b. Dumbledore's Office. I'm keeping with the original one, but the new one has many many details that can be MOCed (Gryffindor's sword!!), or could be kept as McGonagall or someone else's office. c. The tower...which many have said at its first floor is the entrance to the chamber of secrets, please, remember this entrance is a bathroom, so what I've figured out is that this tower holds the common rooms at its bottom from Slytherin House, at its top Gryffindor House. d. Loving the little towers that connect all the buildings in this set, at last not getting separated buildings, something very well earned from the 3rd castle (the OotP one) 4. The Burrow. I'm loving it, it is like I was expecting it. Lots of details, that pig it's great, the broom cabinet which is many times mentioned in the books and that hasn't been in the movies, the dining room where also many pivotal scenes take place...it's also a must get 5. Really impressed with Quidditch set and Dobby's release, I won't get the first but the second is a nice feature for my entire Hogwarts display, is a good conector and includes dobby and lucius Cons: 1. Luna in the Hogwarts' Express set?! come on, this set is all the same as the previous ones! Has nothing new on it, i'm not interested at all on it. Hope there's a chance of getting Luna elsewhere in future waves (if planned) 2. Hagrid's Hut. LOL!! it's just as disapointing as Hogwarts' Express. I am definitely keeping the 3rd wave one, it's far better. 3. Hogwarts Castle. a. Ok, I understand the intention of remaking some parts of it, but...there's an useless tower which I don't know what's there for. Or is it the astronomy tower? Why another if we got one in the first and a very beautiful one in the third castle? b. IMO there's also a lack of SCALE compared to the other 3 ones, it lacks of height! This is very very strange, in fact it should be something not to worry about but as a 15-year-collector and having all 3 castle sets, I am really looking forward to even substitute, as I mentioned above, the Great Hall building. Design is very very different from the rest of the waves, it's very well welcomed, but it's worrying when there's something that simply doesn't fit at all. Waiting for more pics to judge better. c. Related to design again, it seems to be built of many bricks, which is also very welcomed, but somehow it looks bulky. It's really strange as long as there are very few <insert that tiresome argument> pieces... I just can't keep on thinking there's something weird in it. 4. Yes, the Burrow is all I expected, but I shall mention again the weird design composition that makes it look as bulky as the Hogwarts Castle. To make my point clearer, please get in mind the Hogsmeade and Shrieking Shack set from the 3rd original wave. Its made of many many pieces, and the result is a very fluid design that resembles the buildings from the movies' team design. Both Hogwarts and Burrow lack of this. 5. In the Quidditch and Dobby's release set, there's also a strange mix of colors. This is great for piece variety in your collection, but executed on the sets' design, it's not that good. For example, PoP sets are really gorgeous in this matter. All in all, those are very controvertible sets, there are lots of oppinions. I also agree with the one fellow who said this sets look dark, very Dark indeed, but I have no problem at all with it. Lots of details, of gorgeous and exclusive pieces that always have come along with the HP theme, and of course, I'm getting at least the Burrow and Hogwarts sets, that's for sure, I'm a HP and Lego fan and those are really great sets. P.D. just noticed the new photos....AWESOME BELLATRIX!!! and is that...Voldemort?! Quote
legomaster08 Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 (edited) Looks like Hagrids a new face, a neverous one at that, possibly when he gets arrested on chamber of secrets or in the first 1 when he trys to hide norbert or even prisoner of azkaban when dumbledor turns up for buckbeaks execution, anyway the face best suits Hagrid for all these. Also has anyone noticed Snape has NEW hair which I think is the prince of persias?, its almost wind-swept backwards (like when he walks and astronomy tower? ect) also hard to see but the new dementors have grey bodys with long posable arms and black cloaks & hoods. :) Edited February 14, 2010 by legomaster08 Quote
MrCustomizer Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 I LOVE IT! I love her! She's spot on! PERFECT Great hair! I hate Hermione though, and I hope Luna has a double sided head!!!!!! ~MC Quote

There are pics of inside the hut, and once they upload them I'm sure we'll see more of everything. Super! Thanks for the link! I'm refreshing it every five minutes. What a nice pictures of beautiful new figures. Hmph, now we have to wait 9 months before we can buy any of these very nice sets, with more than awesome figures. I'm so fond of Ginny. I have her pictured on a calendar behind me, and the expression and hairstyle are exactly the same. Quote
SuperChris Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Ginny Ginny Ginny . Thank you so much Lego. Quote
MrCustomizer Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 I'm so happy I'll have all of the characters to make a complete Department of Mysteries moc! I have the old Neville though, I hope they'll make a new one soon. ~MC Quote
LegoAlex11 Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 I think I'm the only person that actually likes the hut. I don't have any Harry Potter sets, and I've never seen the movies or read the books, but these look great! I actually want to buy all of them, at least for minifigs and parts. I havent seen or read HP ever either but these look greathttp://www.eurobricks.com/forum/style_emoticons/lego/default_classic.gif Quote
legomaster08 Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 (edited) Lots of printed owls included in the express, 3 I think :) all new and different! also anyone notice the chocolate frog :P and just found out ginnys hair is double sided! :) Edited February 14, 2010 by legomaster08 Quote
gormadoc Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 (edited) I'm looking forward to the new Hogwart's express. I don't think the carriage looks that great but with a little modification this set will fit nicely into my train collection. It would be nice to see how it looks compared to all the other Hogwart's expresses. It's nice to see the Ford Anglia back in a Harry Potter set again, however I think I prefer the one from escape from Privet drive at the moment. Also new Dobby= new Gollum. Overall it's a nice line-up Edited February 14, 2010 by gormadoc Quote
Rufus Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 I love her! She's spot on! Me too . I don't really like Harry Potter, although the films have improved as they've gone on; still I'm highly tempted to invest in some of these sets, if just for the amazing range and quantity of figs. Quote

SuperChris Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 It's Voldermort. If you look through the Castle and look at the box, you can see the Voldermort figure listed with the rest. http://www.flickr.com/photos/fbtbnet/4356727279/sizes/l/ When did Voldermort ever wear green? Quote
Aanchir Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Why is Luna Lovegood in a set that is depicting a scene from the second book and movie? Especially a scene she wasn't even in (we didn't even know she was a character until the 5th book).Talk about inaccuracy there. -Omi It's not an inaccuracy. The set's not necessarily supposed to depict the second film exclusively-- after all, the most recent Death Star set includes scenes from SW episodes IV and VI, but nobody complains. You might also ask why the Invisibility Cloak is in that set, when Harry never used it aboard the Hogwarts Express until we knew about Luna. The point is that LEGO wants to let buyers recreate scenes from multiple films, so the contents are slightly anachronistic. I love the fig designs-- overall they're really phenomenal. Although Ron's hair doesn't look like that in all the films-- thankfully, older fans of the line have an array of hair pieces to choose from. Also, YAY a chocolate frog! Quote

Yeah, that's pretty weird indeed. And I guess, like Clone O'Patra mentioned, it's the vanishing cabinet. But why? The figure looks nice, though. The more I look at the sets itself (and not the figures I already want all), the more I like them. That's a good thing! Quote

Matn Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 (edited) Looks like an awesome Snape, a tormented Snape. I'm not sure which one I like more, this new one or the last one. There wasn't need for a new one, in my opinion. Anyways, I think the room with the handcuffs is the restricted area of the library? Voldemort looks great! Although pretty cartoony, like Flitwick. But very nice. Edited February 14, 2010 by Matn Quote
legomaster08 Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 FLITWICK!! http://www.flickr.com/photos/fbtbnet/4357518538/ lego had done really well with minifigures! :) Quote
