Clone OPatra Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Has anyone figured out what that outhouse-like structure in The Burrow is? This one:I'm very confused as to what it's supposed to be. A fireplace with a Floo funciton? I believe it is the floo powder fire place. See those flames, and that technic bit? I think it might dump the minifig out in some way. Not too sure about the functions, but I definitely think it is the fire place. Quote
CommanderFox Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 The HP sets look INCREDIBLE!!!! Im definitly going to get some of them now! CommanderFox Quote

Not too sure about the functions, but I definitely think it is the fire place. That would make sense. I guess those stickers on top would be pictures hung inside The Burrow then. I just wish it had green flames. Quote
sok117 Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Hagrids hut is kind of small, and I was really hoping for a new wand piece. Oh well, I guess we'll have to settle for walking sticks. I mean you think with all the new and awesome pieces lego made this year for POP Harry Potter and Star Wars, they would think to make a new mould for the most important part of the Harry Potter Franchise. The Wand. Oh well. The only must get so far is the Burrows, It looks like it has some great parts and the ladies are all beautiful. and Greyback's hair and head look menacing. P.S. why is Mutt Williams playing qudditch? Quote
10or Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Yeah they need to change the Oliver Wood head. Maybe a closed mouth smile and just standard brown hair. I love all these sets except Hagrid's Hut because it is the same as the PoA version. It would have been cool if the added a Slughorn figure of even the Whomping Willow. I am very undecided about getting that set. Although the Hagrid, Ron, and Aragog figures are included, maybe ebay will have them. Every other set looks AMAZING! Quote
tin7_creations Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 That would make sense. I guess those stickers on top would be pictures hung inside The Burrow then. I just wish it had green flames. i believe that it WOULD have green flames; maybe it's the technic mechanism; can flip the flames from orange to green? Quote
Ravenxl7 Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 (edited) i believe that it WOULD have green flames; maybe it's the technic mechanism; can flip the flames from orange to green? That's what I'm thinking it does. Doesn't look like it has the ability to hide the minifigure placed in it, but switching out the flames wouldn't be too hard. Honestly, at first I thought it was the broom shed, but the more I looked at it, the more I realized it was the fireplace. Kinda nice that it can be taken out to better use the feature, but personally, I'll probably keep it inside the burrow itself most of the time. One thing I find really nice about these new sets, is that it seems that all of the owls in the sets will be the new design. The older one's were nice, but always seemed more like statues. tin7_creations Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 correct me if i'm wrong; but I remember the press release saying that there will be sets for Deathly Hallows Part 1, as well as Deathly Hallows Part 2 in 2011... the ones we see right now are for Part 1 then? Does this mean there will be a second wave release in 2011 for Part 2? Quote
Clone OPatra Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Nah, I wished that was what the press release says, but upon scrutiny it really does not. Read it again here. It really just says that LEGO is making some new HP sets in anticipation of the new films in November and May. It doesn't say that they're making sets specifically tied to the films, nor does it say anything about more sets with the second film. It just says that there are some new sets coming out in October in anticipation of the Hallows movies. Quote

It just says that there are some new sets coming out in October in anticipation of the Hallows movies. That's so [insert choice expletive here]!!! But then, if the first wave is successful, I'm hoping that LEGO will make a second wave; since there IS a movie tie-in set in this wave (The Burrow=Half-Blood Prince). I'd like sets depicting Malfoy's Manor and the Ministry of Magic from Book 7... fingers crossed Quote
The Penguin Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 As I've said before the sets look pretty nice. Though for me it's the minifigures that attract me mostly. ) Snape. One of my most favourite characters in the books and such a strange interpretation here. I mean the lips seem to have been taken from OF set the rest is new. Including the hair. I'd definitely use the old hair on this minifig, and perhaps the old head, which I find much better. And the torso..... Yes, I'd definitely use the old fig. ) Flitwick. That's a hard one to judge. The fig itself looks great and very much like the new flitwick, but my heart is still with the old "Leviosa" one. ) A good opportunity to test my customisation skills! ) Yay! ) McGonagall. My favourite one in HP books. ) And it seems that she'd been done greatly in both LEGO interpretations. but, what bothers me is her face. I'm not a big fan of that smirking face it seems she has. I'm more for a strict-looking-nevertheless-smiling old one. However I guess that a proper picture of her face may change my opinion. or have I missed one? Plus I never really understood why would TLC give her a green hat? I'm pretty sure that in the film she has a black one. ) Good day, ladies and gentlemen! ) Quote
SuperChris Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 More new angles of the sets here: http://toyfair10.asmzine.com/gallery/lego/...tter/index.html I still love the Ginny figuire, I'm sure she has a double head. Same story for Bellatrix. Quote
Whittleberry Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Well I'm really pleased with the new sets now I've seen the photos. Considering that less than a year ago all hope was lost, this is spectacular! And this just goes to show how reliable a certain Mister Witt is...maybe we should take all he says with a large handful of salt? Anyway, although I'm not a massive fan of the Hogwarts Express or Hagrid's Hut (a Fang would be way better than that freaky looking Aragog), but I'll buy them all the same, since there are so many nice figs and pieces. Dobby's Release is giving us a new Lucius and a flesh (and more realistic looking) printed Dobby, which is reasonable for a small set. I really think that the old version of this set was better though, since it had a much better looking Diary included. The Burrow is very nice; dark red roof, detailed interiors (the likes of which never appeared in the old HP sets) and more. And Hogwarts itself....boy. They've certainly decided to make the theme go out with a bang, and the most detailed Hogwarts ever. Exclusive pieces and figs, printed owls and sorting hat, new dementors, and a nice looking exterior. The figs in all the sets are all excellent, I particularly like Ginny, Bellatrix and the Quidditch figs. I can't really think of anything to say that hasn't been said already, but I will say this: I think this is it, and there will be no more HP sets after this wave. So go all-out, this is the last chance we'll have to stock up on HP LEGO! Heck, if the line sells really well, LEGO might even release some more sets next year to coincide with the second film. But I doubt they will, regardless of what happens. Quote
legomaster08 Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Nice to see most of the sets have new cloaks, has anyone else noticed the box age rating? its gone up 2 years, the order of the phoenix hogwarts was 7-12, so I'm glad its gone up more as I'm 15 Quote
RoryoCox Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 I cannot wait until October, this year is going to be great. Hagrids Hut Really great but not as good as the previous two. Aragog is a nice addition along with Norbert which I failed to get originally. Hagrid is just like the last one which I have but still it is nice to have two. Harry,Ron and Hermione are fabulous additions with their new torsos and head prints. Their hair is a great improvement. I think the door on the hut is new, it seems thicker. I wouldn't mind if there was a power function in the hut, that would be cool. Hogwarts Express A great set and is much improved from the last two. Finally there are windows unlike the original. The figures are just brilliant, Ron, Harry, Ginny, Luna and Malfoy are a great improvement. The torsos are just a must have with the new faces and hair an improvement like none other. I can't wait until I get this set, it will look great in my collection and the minifigures will be great for MOCs. The car is also outstandingly brilliant. Quidditch Match A great little set, with great features. The hoops are alright but they could have used the originals in gold. The tower is great to have especially in such strange colors. The cup is nice to have for MOCs. The aviator helmet and trunk are always great to have in multiple. The launchers look alright and I hope they actually work. The torso prints are amazing with the new heads and hair is shall be great to have. Madam Hooches head is great for steampunk. Releasing Dobby Another great little set. It is a bit small but what can you expect for such a set. The minifigures are again of the highest quality with finally a flesh Dobby which will look good beside my original. Lucius looks great bu maybe a bit more detail on his torso may have helped him. Harry's new torso print looks fantastic and life like unlike the original 'always tidy' uniform. The Burrow The burrow looks nice but I have a sneaking suspicion that it is not as good as a certain EB members MOC . The minifigs are great, Bellaxtrixs hair is just unbelievable. The design is a bit off but still really good. The fire place is a great feature and the kitchen is great with loads of little details. And of course the Master itself Hogwarts Castle is all round unbeatable. The exterior looks just amazing and the interior is fabulous. This October is going to be great. I am defiantly getting all these sets! Quote
legomaster08 Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 (edited) Have you noticed how throughout most of the sets feature newspapers, the daily prophet and quibbler but another thing i noticed was in this picture: http://toyfair10.asmzine.com/gallery/lego/...s/IMG_3563.html Its the prophet based around the 3rd movie with the headline 'mass breakout from azkaban' I dont think harry went to the burrow in the 3rd book/film ? Anyway yeah, has anybody noticed the dragon egg by hagrids hut yet? i belive it has something to do with the power functions mechanism :) Also noticed how theres another rotating mechanism, perhaps a swerving 'the chamber of secrets has opened' warning? http://toyfair10.asmzine.com/gallery/lego/...s/IMG_3572.html -LM Edited February 15, 2010 by legomaster08 Quote
Ogel Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Oh man, I'm gonna be so poor this fall... These look great. Not much else to say about them that hasn't already been said a hundred times here. LEGO really knocked the quaffle out of the park with these amazing sets! I hope for more! Quote

Would be really cool if it did spin around and had the red writing on the wall. Would be nice little added feature. Quote
legomaster08 Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 BRAND NEW years 1-4 video, the first 3 minutes of the game ENJOY! :) - LM Quote

Clone OPatra Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 It's not the greatest picture ever, but it does show the Burrow nicely from the front: And a better view of Hermione. I don't think the Hermione is that terrible, but it really isn't quite right. It looks too much like LEGO was blending her in with the Indy and City women, they all have similar eyebrows and smiles. If they did the other HP ladies so well this time (Bellatrix, Molly, GINNY, Luna), why'd they have to wash over Hermione? That last snarky face that first showed up in the fourth movie sets was really good for her. From Joe Meno, Toy Fair Photostream. Quote
RoryoCox Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 It's not the greatest picture ever, but it does show the Burrow nicely from the front: From Joe Meno, Toy Fair Photostream. The burrow doesn't look to bad from the front. The colours work well together and it really isn't as bad as I thought it would be. Quote
Matn Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 (edited) Oh, the Burrow does look good from the front. I've changed my mind: I love it! I won't nitpick anymore about the colours, they fit very well. The diversity in windows look good and I like those "wooden" tiles. It's nice to see some more pictures, the more the merrier. I love all the close-ups of the figures, I can't stop looking at them. Hermoine (and Snape) are indeed the only figures I'm not so sure about. They look very nice, but their older versions were better. Snape's version of 2007 was perfect. Hermoine could be better, but here she looks a bit too... I don't know, it's weird to say. But it fits with the new Harry Potter and Ron Weasley, they look younger. EDIT: The interior of the Burrow is so nice. They've even managed to make the clock, yes, it's a sticker, but it's awesome. Edited February 15, 2010 by Matn Quote
Rick Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Indeed the front looks much more balanced than the back. The pictures of the back I've seen so far made it look like a bit of a mess... Quote

I agree with you so much. Even though everything is stickered, that's ok, it's nice to have the detail and I can see why it would be pointless for LEGO to make printing for one set. This HP line is such a treat in every way, especially the Burrow. Everything has a level of detail comparable to a MOC. The kitchen even has a stack of plates! Even if some of these sets are "rehashes," they show that LEGO knows how to do it much better now. Not that the originals of these were bad, but they were certainly plainer, especially the original Hogwarts Castle. I do have a gut feeling that this HP wave will be similar to the Pirates line sadly. One short-lived hurrah in response to all those people begging for more sets over the years. But we will see. Since this is a licensed theme and HP did do well for a while, maybe this will be a lucrative deal that lasts for two or three waves. But I still doubt it… Quote
