Actually, $130 is kind of a record even including Star Wars. None of the "regular release" Star Wars sets have yet been over $120, it's only all those exclusives like the Tantive and the AT-OT that are more.

LEGO is certainly getting up there price-wise, but I agree with you Svelte that it's nice for them to really go all out on the Castle. Since it is most likely the last wave of Harry Potter sets, it's great to have a large flagship set like that. I think they covered the Castle very nicely, and I can't think of much that is obviously missing.

Certain TRU's have sold Republic Gunships for $130, but other than that, I guess you're right! Never noticed that.

By the way, is that puny room about 4 studs wide and 6 blocks high supposed to be a baby Chamber of Secrets? EDIT: Wait... it has chairs. The Slitherin gathering room thingie?

Hi, :classic:

thanks for the beauty pictures! I like the sets and minifigures all!

I think that's funny that we have now the third(!) Hogwart Express and the fourth(!) Hogwart Castle. ^^

:hmpf: I hope we to get in the future new sets from the Diagon Alley, Nocturn Alley, Ministry for Witchcraft, Hogsmeet (The Honey Pot  ).....

Ok, I don't want this to come off the wrong way!

But, whyever the same?

For example "Dobbys Release":

Why not transform the other scene with Harry, Dobby and the Dursleys in Private Drive.

Here we have a flying cake (transparent bricks), woman with two faces (friendly/stained), men with two faces (friendly/ unfrendly), Mr. and Mrs. Dursley with two faces (friendly/unfriendly), Dudley, Harry with two faces (terrified/ furious) and Dobby.

As an extra we have the living room + Harrys room and many new minifigures.

--> Lucius Malfoy we have for example with Draco Malfoy in Flourish & Blotts  (great variety of magic books).

with Harry, Gilderoy Lockhart and the Weasleys.

...come on LEGO!

Where are your ideas?

I am definitely getting the Burrow and Hogwarts, and I'll buy Luna off of ebay (even with those obscene prices).

I sincerely hope that they make a wave 2. That way we could get a few Deathly Hallows and a couple more Half Blood Prince sets.

It'd give a chance to have Neville, Slughorn, a new Luna in ravenclaw uniform, maybe a Cedric figure! Ooh..

I can't wait till these are released! They all look amazing! Although it's pretty awful to see them now but have to wait until october :cry_sad: Even the dobby's release set looks good to me because it comes with some pretty useful parts (lucias's hair, dobby) The only ones that are a must for me are the burrow and hogwarts but I might pick up the others too :sceptic: Bellatrix is my favorite character in the series because she's portrayed by my favorite actress, so I'm very excited to have her in minifig form. Plus since Helena's (the actress who plays Bellatrix) characters all have about the same darkness and look to them this fig will be perfect for future Mrs. Lovettes  Also Fenrir is perfect! He looks just like he does in the movies! Both outfits are very nice and perfect for darker toned mocs too.

I love all the figures so it'll be unfortunate if I don't get the chance to pick up Luna, Ron, and Draco :sceptic: I don't understand why Ron wasn't included in the burrow, and why Malfoy isn't in Hogwarts (They have the Slytherin common room and everything!). But I kinda like the way they've given the theme a more "collect them all!" instead of "Collect them all and have a bunch of doubles" It's certainly a good market idea! Ravenclaw is my favorite house so I'm disappointed that they're STILL avoiding making that print :hmpf: but it's probably because if Luna had a Ravenclaw outfit we'd all be complaining about not having a Hufflepuff one  I can't think of any other reason since malfoy is the only fig the Slytherin uniform is on and he only wears it in one set  As for double sided heads Bellatrix's confuses me :sceptic: why would she have a face with a "D:" unhappy/scared look on it? She seems perfectly cheerful in the movies either that or furious  and Luna better have one! not that I don't adore those glasses  but I want to see her with a normal face! But despite a few disappointments (okay maybe more than a few  (no Neville, new Snape not so great, no Ravenclaw uniform, no Slughorn, etc.)) Also for Voldemort I think he'll probably make an appearance in the next movie in dark green  at least I hope so because that would be the ONLY thing about these sets that has to do with the new movie :hmpf_bad: Also Snape's semi-nice appearance could be to support the later movies discover that Snape is a good guy who's on dumbledores side

As far as the sets in general I like that they span across a bunch of different movies! That kinda reminds me of TLC's emphasis on imagination, now the kids can replay movies and even make up their own scenarios and plots. Unfortunately to me that seems like a bad sign against a second wave of sets  because it seems like the sets are trying to knockout a bunch of movies in a few sets because there won't be anymore after this :sceptic: but then again I also see this as lego trying to allow newer generations of kids to reenact and play with older movies because they can't buy the older sets anymore. One thing that makes me think that maybe there will be another wave is that the sets don't really show any sign of the final two movies. Maybe there will be a wave just for those  and maybe then we'll have a few more of our harry potter needs sufficed

I was curious, so I watched the ministry battle in OotP earlier today, and while it is very dark, his robes were definitely green. I don't imagine they would change his wardrobe for DH, but we'll have to wait and see. It can only be seen in one or two photos, but the front of the box has Harry and Voldemort fighting. The little scene there, and the fact that Voldemort is int he set to begin with, could definitely, imo, be take as a nod to DH.

There is one thing about the Voldemort figure I hope is different for the final production version. I'm not sure if it's just because it's a test piece, or if it was done on purpose, but the white on the inside of his cape/cloak bothers me. I'm ok with the green now, but the white doesn't quite look right to me. It works for the Slytherin Quidditch robes, but not for Voldemort, imo.

I think it would be cool to have a centaur set with maybe the dead unicorn, or with Grawp and Umbridge.

That would be interesting. Wouldn't at all be hard to design a Lego centaur (if they haven't already done so in the past), and Grawp could be a retool to the mountain troll figure (would work for me).

One set I think would be quite interesting to see, would be a set based around the Epilogue. Would, for the most part, be minifigures, but they could include part of the train station and a couple of luggage trolleys. Not a very likely set to be made, but it's definitely an interesting idea.

There are, imo, at least a couple of different sets that could be made with a DH theme to them:

-Shell Cottage- the cottage, Bill, Fleur, the trio, Ollivander, Graphook, & Luna.

-The trio camping- a tent, the trio, some plants, Gryffindor's sword, & the silver doe.

-Godric's Hollow graveyard- gravestones, Harry, Hermione, Bathilda, & a snake.

-Escaping Gringotts- bank vault & rubble, the trio, Graphook, goblins, Gryffindor's sword, & the dragon.

somehow; with the amount of figs we are getting; I think LEGO might have made a list of figs, and found a bunch of them left over, so then just stick them into sets where they might appear "suitable"...

because Voldemort and Dumbledore have never been @ Hogwarts at the same time... Luna wasn't mentioned when the Ford Anglia was around etc (maybe that's why luna doesn't have a Hogwart's uniform? since book 2 is her first year)...

But I really wish they would've made the twins though, would've been quite easy; and Tonks too... and 12 Grimmauld Place.

The reason Luna (with spectrescopes) is in the train set, and Voldemort is in the castle set, is because only one of the six sets is book specific. Freeing Dobby is only based off of CoS, while the other five have a mixture of nods to several different books. For example, Hagrid's Hut has both Aragog and Norbert, thus referencing both of the first two books. The castle seems to have countless different nods built into it (has at least ten different parts of the castle), the train set references both CoS (Ron, Harry, & the car) and HBP (Harry, Draco, Ginny, Luna, & the cloak), and the Quidditch Match set is generic looking enough to reference several of the books, though CoS is the first to come to my mind when I look at it. The way that the Burrow set is set up on the packaging homages the attack in HBP, and the set itself contains nods to it's other appearances in the books/movies. Most notably the fireplace and the clock.

I really like how these sets are a catch all for the various scenes int he books/movies, instead of all being specific to one of them. Which is why I'm hoping they continue on for at least another wave of sets.

^^ Agreed.

I would love a wave two!

Perhaps a Ministry of Magic set for either OotP or DH? Preferably OotP, since that would include more figures.

We NEED a room of requirement also. Those two sets would give us the whole "main" DA (Luna Harry Hermione Ron Ginny Neville)

And the third task would be an awesome set! We could have a Cedric, Fleur, and another chance at Mad Eye (Maybe)! Exciting!

I think the Quidditch Match clearly references Film 1, Film 2 (as you said), and Film 6. It references film 1 due to it having a named Oliver Wood character, who was only a major player in film one even though there was Quidditch in film 2. It references Film 2 since it's got Malfoy, and he only started playing in Film 2 and set up that rivalry with Harry in at Quidditch in the Film, and it references Film 6 sort of since that was the only one where the players wore helmets, and the set comes with helmets.

I too like that the sets are all a mix of the stories. Still, it seems odd that some of the installments are completely left out, especially GoF, but I don't see much PoA in there either (except that young Flitwick first appeared in the PoA film). Seems to me like there are some clear SS, CoS, HBP, and perhaps Hallows if Harry and Voldemort are fighting in the Castle, but the other ones are mostly left out. That could be because the specific elements of these three HP films are more versatile in terms of making your own scenes. What I mean by that is to say that you can use Bellatrix and Dobby in your own MOCs easily since they are recurring characters, but having some French girls from book 4 isn't that great at a basic HP level since they only show up once. A Ministry set from OotF could've been easily useful though, but I like the line up that they've got.

Very cool sets. The one I really want though is graveyard

Duel.

Graveyard Duel is a set from the Goblet of Fire Line. Which set are you talking about?

After thinking about it, I think Lego did a sensible job of which figures to include. As Clone O'Patra put it, they're really versatile and pretty much all of them can be used in multiple scenes/books. My only concern is that in order to get all these characters, you need most of the sets!

It's strange...why wouldn't they have included pretty much anything from GoF or PoA? I was thinking that maybe it was because whereas the older films haven't got any sets in a while for kids the newer ones did have sets released more recently. But still, if they find it so important to release fire stations every 2 years or so to satisfy newer generations, why wouldn't they want to have some satisfaction for generations that missed out on the sets that were released 4&5 years ago? That seems more important to me, especially with the wide fan base for harry potter! But the fact that it looks like they're trying to take down most of the movies in one wave still scares me for the future of the theme :cry_sad:

Well if you think about it, there isnt much that would clearly define those movies (especially GoF) without being too movie specific. Sure, it would have been nice to maybe have a Buckbeak in Hagrid's Hut, but what else can you think of that would make a generic Harry Potter set but would still have subtle elements from those movies?

Things like Aragog in Hagrid's hut and Bella and Fenrir in the Burrow "reference" the respective movies, but don't make it strictly blatant.

You know what I mean? (I'm really tired so sorry if none of that makes sense )

Hahaha! I was sleepy too when I wrote mine  No that makes sense, like Clone O'Patra said, Having giant spiders and generic bad guys would be a lot more versatile and fun to play with than a bunch of french girls  not that I wouldn't just love to play with those Beauxbaton ladies

just a question; does anyone know if the Luna fig has a double sided head? although i like the SpectreSpecs... it just doesn't seem right if she's wearing them ALL the time.

I've heard that it is, but haven't seen any pictures that prove it. Bellatrix even has a double sided head (the other side has a sort of scared look on her face), so it would surprise me if Luna didn't also have one.

I too haven't seen any proof that there isn't, but I can't see why they wouldn't. Loads of other figs have double-heads.

Well, after writing my initial comment, I realized that Dementors in the Castle is from PoA, though that is the only thing. Dementors may be about the only thing that really isn't too movie specific about PoA, since the Dementors show up again later and fight with Voldemort against the good guys.

I'm pretty sure Luna will have a double-sided head. I think there might've been one picture I saw that showed it, but I can't remember for sure. I wouldn't worry about it, since it's not like LEGO to be stingy on their current trend.

Did anybody else notice the engraved shield that says "James Potter Seeker" behind the suit of armour? It's details like that that scream "want".

Yeah I saw that! And I'm just like you, little details make the set a lot more interesting for me  although I sure hope there's something other than just that behind there

Just gotta say this, a little disappointed that the Quidditch (or three hoops) set has the characters in Quidditch costumes, I can't possibly think of any uses for those but with five fleshie faces I don't know what to do about it. Stupid criticism I know, but I like to have figs for a wide range of uses.
