I, too, am looking forward to the new Universal Studios attraction. Filmgirl and Lightning Tiger are right though, the new HP Lego sets aren't slated to come out until this fall.

A bit of topic but does everyone know that deathly hallows will be in 3 PARTS!?

- 1st part in november 2010

- 2nd part july 2011

- 3rd part july 2013! (yes a two year gap) :(

MUGGLENET (in the first post of the april news archive) :

Warner Brothers today announced that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be split into three parts. Parts 1 and 2 retain their November and July dates respectively, while Part 3 will hit theaters in July 2013.

We spoke to a source at Leavesden Studios, who revealed: "We've got to be honest. When we started shooting Deathly Hallows, none of us wanted to stop. We experienced a fan-gasm. The book is simply amazing, and we love the people we work with. Each time we shot a scene we shot way too much extra footage because we loved the content so much. Before we knew it, we had enough content to fill three films."

When the Potter production team shared this news with Warner Brothers, many higher-ups - most notably CEO Alan Horn - jumped on the opportunity to turn it into a three-part finale.

One source at Warner Brothers' Burbank headquarters told us, "Mr. Horn got so excited when he heard about all the extra footage that he immediately jumped out of his chair, picked up his Looney Tunes commemorative pen, and started pretending to throw Avada Kedavra spells at other studio's headquarters he could see out his window. He knows that other studios are gonna hate this news."

WB tells us that the reason Parts 2 and 3 have a 2-year delay in between them is due to the fact that they want the franchise to last longer. It also helps WB's bottom line.

LOL I fell for that when it came out until I remembered it was April 1st. Plus it's a bit unrealistic.

Me and my boyfriend are visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park in Orlando Florida this June when it opens, and I'm crossing my fingers these sets are available on sale there. It would be a very wise marketing strategy for TLG, after all.

Do you hear me, TLG? It would be WISE!

I really doubt that LEGO would sell the sets way before its release date. It would be smart that come October when they are released they also get released in the park.

I am so glad that I knew it was April Fools Day when that came out. I saw the Leaky Cauldron page frist and it was change to a Glee fan page. Then I saw the DH 3 part movie news and knew it was a joke. It would help with getting more sets though....

I have collected all the harry potter sets upto know, but I cannot say looking at the pictures of the "new 2010" sets

that I am impressed I don't like the colors and also the minifigures are not fitting in with the old ones, it is as if it is a different serie of sets, so a rather ugly double up!

and what I hear they will be much more expensive as well as the other series.

Disagree! These have so much more detail than the old ones! LEGO has improved so much more with their work since the first sets and I am happy that they are releasing these with the new details. The colors and mini figs will go perfect with the old ones.

Agreed. While I love the HP themed Lego's I already have, the new one's are such an improvement I can't imagine not getting any them. The detailing and colors are perfect, and should go nicely with what I've already got.

As for whether or not the theme park will have them, they might, but not until the wide release of the sets. I can't imagine them releasing them early, even for the park opening.

The really good thing about this wave of sets not being movie/book specific, is that there is no end to what they could do with any future waves of sets. Ultimately I think that if we do get another wave or two of sets after this, that they'll stick with sets that can reference multiple scenes, with maybe one or two that are as specific as the Freeing Dobby set.

One thing I sorta wish they would have updated for these sets is the brooms. Not that the current design doesn't work well, just that I think it wouldn't have been hard to make at least one of the broom designs from the HP universe in Lego form. A Nimbus 2000 design itself could also just be molded in black and used as the Nimbus 2001 (since that was really all the difference between the two was). The Firebolt would be more difficult to design, but not entirely impossible.

So you both disagree that the sets aren't detailed, right?

I like that too, I was getting tired of them making a new Hagrid's Hut for almost every movie :hmpf:. I wish they would bring back the modular castle design, that way you can arrange it the way you want and they can add more movie-specific areas later(plus, you can get multiple figures for making custom figs). And my modular-wishes aren't just for HP. . And about the park opening, they did plan the videogame for it to satisfy us until:

A)Videogamers: SW III: the Clone Wars comes out.

B)_FOLs: the sets come out in October.

or C)Readers: Hey, this reminds me of one of those choose your own adventure books

I think the game will make me want the new sets even more! I'm sure I will get new ideas for custom figs. I am curious to see all the characters they left out especially from Goblet of Fire like Cedric and Fleur.

I have a question for you guys and gals.

Do you like the figures with capes/cloaks or without them?

I actually really liked them and wish LEGO would have kept including them on the figs. All my figs wear them.

I don't think the characters wore the capes all the time in the books. I do like the capes, but in the few HP MOCs I've made, I haven't used the capes on the students.

Well, I don't use capes all the time, but there are some characters that look silly without them(Proffesor Snape, Dumbeldore, Darth Vader...). But why did they have white stars on the capes early on?

I used to want them on every minifigure, but seeing the new design for the students, I really like them cloak-less. Though there are definitely some characters that I feel need them. Snape, McGonagall, Voldemort, etc. Basically most of the teachers and adult characters, but with some exceptions. Filch, Albus D., Aberforth D., Flitwick, and Hagrid are some good examples (not even sure it would be physically possible to put one on Hagrid, lol).

If I'm not mistake, the stars on the one side where supposed to represent the invisibility cloak. Which is why they were turned onto the inside for certain characters in pictures.

I think the stars were just for decoration because all the students had the star capes and only Harry had the invisibility cloak. I think the purple cloak that came with Harry sometime in the sets was the invisibility cloak, like the Marauders Map set he was wearing the purple cape.

And you guys are right, the new designs for the students with the front and back uniform design and the new black legs look good and don't need the capes.

I think Dumbeldore should have a cape, he looks too boring without one and it would be nice to get one in sand blue  . I've tried it with Hagrid and it works(but when did he ever wear a cape? ).

For Dumbledores cape, I use the blue cape that Harry had in the first castle.

The teachers should have capes on, but the students only wear capes while in class !

Of course I could be wrong, having only seen the first film, another half dozen to go.

I guess if the figures don't come with capes, well I'll pop up to my local parts people and buy some new early in series capes with the stars on them.

I'm a conformist! ! :sweet:

Wow. That explains all of Harry's bad choice in cape color. Invisibility Cloak....I feel so stupid...

I would LOVE a new broomstick , but a bit like the motorized tricycle, have a little slit for in between the fig's legs, and maybe those little things they put their feet on, whatever they're called....

The cape that Lupin came with is perfect with the sand blue Dumbledore.

The thing I didn't like about the capes is that the came apart easily.

A new broom stick would have been cool, especially with it being able to go between their legs. They could have made the Nimbus 2000 brown, Nimbus 2001 black, and the Firebolt dark red.

I think the Nimbus 2000 should be dark brown, and the normal brooms be normal brown. Dark orange tail twigs would be awesome too.

What? I couldn't even rip a cape, even if I tried... :look: If it could go in between their legs, how would they hold on?

The capes started to fringe at the bottom as they get older. I solved it by spray painting them with black of course and they stay like brand new!

I don't know how they would hold on? It would look weird. But if they just had the broom straight and the tail not curved and some color I would be happy. I mean LEGO have even started to give the owls more detail!

I was looking through the photos and noticed that the wands colors are not different colors between the characters. Harry, Ron, and Hermione are all holding brown wands in the Hagrids Huts set pics. I hope they are more varied in color

Was looking over at Mugglenet, and looks like there's going to be Collectors Editions of the game:

http://www.mugglenet.com/

http://www.gamestop.com/browse/ProductMerc...&affid=3002

LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1 - 4 Collector's Edition revealed, includes 'exclusive' Deathly Hallows sneak peek and more We've all been very excited for the release of LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1 - 4. But wait, what's this? It looks like a Collector's Edition of the game will also be released and include some cool features:

The LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 Collector's Edition for PS3 or Wii includes the game, a peek behind the scenes of LEGO Harry Potter, fun on the set of Harry Potter, an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and an exclusive set of 4 House Crest LEGO magnets. Pre-order the Xbox 360 version, and you'll get all of this, plus a download code for an exclusive Xbox LIVE LEGO Harry Potter Avatar Item. Supplies are limited. Pre-order yours now.

According to listings on GameStop, the Collector's Edition will retail for $69.99 and will be released on June 29th (the rumored release date of the regular edition which we first reported several weeks ago).

Will you purchase the Collector's Edition or stick with the regular edition? Thanks much to Russell for the tip!

Personally I'll be sticking with the PC version of the game (which sadly doesn't appear to be getting a Collector's Edition). I don't have any of the modern consoles, and don't plan to buy any of them (maybe the Wii, but not anytime soon).

While there isn't any variation between the trio's wands, there is at least some variation in the wand colors now. At the very least Dumbledore and Voldemort have differently colored wands. Dumbledore has a light tan wand (which I think should be used for Hermione's too), Snape has a black wand, and Voldemort has a white wand. Though I do agree, more variation would be nice, along with hopefully the wands being the shorter version when these sets come out.

Hm, I was thinking about to get it for the pc just for the graphics. But I think I'll now get it for the Wii (because lately, I've been starting to like it again  ), it has probably a better multiplayer option and there's an awesome collector's edition with some Hogwarts LEGO crests. :classic:

A special LEGO minifigure would have been awesome, though. :hmpf:

Hm, those magnets look pretty neat, and sneak peeks are always good, but I'm not sure if those things are worth the extra $20. :sceptic: I think I'll wait for better pics of the magnets (Are they duplo or system?) before I decide. There's still time, after all.
