wooootles Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 This would probably be my first real contribution in plastic bricks after my intro post way back then. Having some surplus with my PaB cup rampage in Illinois days ago, 2 Family Home CREATOR sets, plus a few specialized pieces from CREATOR mini jeep (Garage) and Beach House (roof window), I made my own family home. It, of course, started with a 6754 that I modded slowly and constantly that it became a mostly new model, with some 5754 elements. Lower floor front window design is straight out of the stock 6754. Back view. Patio door and chimney are again copies. Patio door opens from the inside now, as opposed to the stock version, where it oddly opens from the outside. What's up with that> Garage door, with a 16 x 8 space inside. Should fit most cars. Door hinges from the CREATOR mini. Interior, 1st floor. Yep it's bare Bedroom Rest of the 2nd floor. Some things: -In the future I plan to fully tile the finish the interior, I think there's room for a kitchen, dinner table, sofa sets, bedroom and even a bathroom. -Once I get a hold of more baseplates, I'll make a backyard. Bonus pics: Smug, 6-figure guy with a limited edition 8402 (hint: slightly modded also) and his stylish wife meets their college student daughter! Comments? Suggestions? Thanks! Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Very nice MOD to the family home , you only need to add a kitchen and bathroom plus some furniture to make it homely. Excellent work 'Wooootles' ! Quote
Rick Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Nice MOD/MOC. It was already big, but now it's getting close to huge. Nevertheless, it's really space inside, while the outside looks much more varied. Quote
Zorbas Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Excellent! This could have easily been an official Creator house! I love the way you 've built the roof! It's not too simple and having all these corners and not being symmetrical makes it really interesting to the eye. Great work! Quote
Milan Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Cool! I like this MOD, very creative! Backyard would be great. Quote
BlueBard Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Wondeful MOD/MOC, indeed! I specially like the attic part, so many space, there! Quote
Big Cam Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Spectacular, I really love the inside of the house, how you have actual rooms and attic type places. I was going to ask if the garage opened and yesit does! I like the tiled garage. Very nice proportionaly built house. Quote
sens1992 Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Wow, very nice house. It looks like a real set too! I love the size of it too. Great job. Quote
wooootles Posted January 4, 2010 Author Posted January 4, 2010 (edited) Thanks, thanks, thanks for all the comments! Everyone seems to like the spacious interior. Once I fully furnish this house though, it probably won't look too roomy as the comments here suggest When that is, I don't know. I don't have a big brickventory and I haven't done bricklink before (plus, many stores are stingy when it comes to ordering many small-amount lots) you only need to add a kitchen and bathroom plus some furniture to make it homely. The kitchen IMO is going to be quite the challenge. I have to fit it in that 6x7 space in the back right of the house opposite of the stairs (though I can make it extend out of that 6x7 space if I wanted; my parents' door to the garage is in the kitchen) Now that I think of it a bathroom, I think, is near-hopeless. I can try to put it in the 2nd floor back module, but I need more roof windows and try to make it more accessible, which could be a challenge. I can try to make a beach-house style roof where it opens to access the bathroom, but right now I'm not even seriously considering the bathroom. It was already big, but now it's getting close to huge. Yep, being 36 studs wide it commands quite the attention, even when put next to my CC and GG. Good thing is that I won't put this one next to those downtown pieces. Backyard would be great. I already have a 16x32 green ready for this, but for the life of me I cannot find my 16x16 green that I stashed away since my LEGO child days. Once I find it I can put the original 6754 patio with the picnic table, or the beach house table with an umbrella, etc. Edited January 4, 2010 by wooootles Quote
Princess Storm Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Really nice MOC, I agree that it looks like an authentic Creator set. The roof is really interesting and realistic, I can't wait to see the furnished interior! I think you're right, the bathroom will be a challenge; a roof that opens would work well though I think. Wout Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 This is a very nice house. I like the door between the garage and the house very much. The roofconstruction is complicated and nice. I love the roofwindow and the upstairs. Quote
Badsneaker Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Looks great, you need to put the white 8 long rail plates facing outwards if you want the outside sliding door to open. I love this Creator set, I have bought about 6 of them, 1 to keep, the other ones for parts. Quote
prateek Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Awesome job! I love the design of it, and it looks realistic. Quote
wooootles Posted January 4, 2010 Author Posted January 4, 2010 thanks again for more comments you need to put the white 8 long rail plates facing outwards if you want the outside sliding door to open.Yep, that's how the stock house does it. I prefer it opening from the inside though And yeah, this set is just awesomesauce for basic bricks for buildings and the price/piece ratio is just wonderful. Quote
Darth Hawken Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Nice roof building and alot of room on the second floor fantastic job! on the garage instead of having studs near the handle it would look better with flat bricks Amazing MOD/MOC Quote
MdrnMrvls Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Ah, yes. Stairs and a complete second floor. Great work! Quote
wooootles Posted January 5, 2010 Author Posted January 5, 2010 Moar comments! thanks again guys! on the garage instead of having studs near the handle it would look better with flat bricks Can't disagree with you there. I like the handle, but I don't have 1x1 and 1x2 or 1x3 flat tiles, so the studs will have to stay... for now :skull: Quote
