Using parts from Racers 8121, 8122, 8162, City 7635, 7638, 8402 and the Space Police 5972 set I built a 4wd recovery vehicle and car trailer. Working winches on vehicle and trailer. 4 seats in recovery vehicle.

Enjoy :classic:

Fat and nice!

I like it.

I miss the doors, but everything else is good, I like the LB gray underparts It reminds me a little bit on a Lada Niva.

Trailer is great, too, it would be more realistic for a trailer to has smaller wheels, to lower the weight of the cargo on it.

Nice work!

I'm not completely sold on the vehicle. With huge wheels like that I feel it should have more ground clearance. I also agree that the trailer would look better if it were lower. This is a very nice idea, but it could be done better with a bit more effort.

Interesting recovery vehicle - I agree with 'Ralph_S' the wheels are an issue for me too, more suited to a heavy truck than a 4x4.

Apart from that it's fantastic, note I don't think you can lower the trailier to the ground unless you make it wider though that might not be practical. :yoda:

Good work 'AllanSmith' keep those MOC's comming ! :sweet:

It can't be lowered using those wheels, tyres and mudguards, but with narrower wheels (these for instance) the wheels could be moved outward without changing the width too much. Car trailers tend to have their wheels far outboard with the bed that the actual car sits on between them. I think that would be a worthwhile change, because it would really improve the realism.

I'm not trying to be a hard-megablocks here, but because I build a lot of cars myself I tend to be far pickier about them than about most other subjects.

Cheers,

Ralph

Yeah, there is nothing wrong in seeking for perfection in lego design.

As I said before, I would try to improve the trailer, if the MOC is still in one piece!

I love it, the larger tires are somethign I haven't seen before, of course I don't have any newer Town sets.

The winch on the trailer is a great touch too. I see you built it perfectly to fir the sports car.

Great job!

They aren't in any Town sets as far as I know. I think they were in some of the Racers sets, but I don't own any of those, so I'm not sure about that.

I would agree with the suggestions of raising the 4WD vehicle a bit and lowering the trailer. However, the winch on the front looks really good. :sweet:

I like that, needs a set of doors instead of the bricks though.

Like the arches

I'm guessing doors don't come in that color. That's something I didn't even notice the first time through.

As a rugged offroad vehicle, I'd be ok with no doors, just jump in General Lee style.

Really nice! I agree with the others, I think the truck is sitting a bit low. There should be more room above the tire between the fender, for suspension movement :) Google image search for "lifted bronco" and that's what I'm talking about.

To minifig scale, those tires must be something like 44s!

I like the rescue/adventure sort of theme you've got going with this.

Thanks for your great comments. All my 25 year collection of parts and sets is 400km away in storage. So I only have parts (from a 30% off sale) below to build with.

Racers 8121 x 2

Racers 8122 x 3

Racers 8162 x2

City 7635 x 2

City 7638 x 3

City 8402 x 1

Space Police 5969 x 1

Space Police 5972 x 1

Most of the parts from the sets above have been used in the earlier MOC's I have posted here. I would improve my MOC's if I could.

I do miss my endless supply of thousands of parts that is currently in storage. Also once a MOC is built I do not pull them apart so most of the above set parts have been used up.

I designed this Bigfoot truck a while ago in LDD. This is what I really want to build using those wheel arch pieces. It has suspension and four wheel steering
