simonjedi Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 (edited) I wanted characters to progress at a reasonably quick rate so players could enjoy the fruits reaching the levels of Warrior, Master, etc. There's many more duels to be had once your Jedi/Sith has reached the highest rank. Not only that but you can improve your character by expanding thier Bio and Duel History too. When you've played the same character for a while why not try a new character and use different abilities to see how they fare?Asides from all that, expanded progression is definately something I've been considering for future versions of the game. How about 2 wins for duels for Youngling -> Jedi Initiate / Sith Acolyte 5 for Initiate/Acoyte -> Apprentice 10 Apprentice -> Knight/Warrior 15 Knight -> Master Where abouts in the the timeline is the game set? (Kotor era/Clone wars/Galactic civil war ect) or doesn't it really matter? Also is it possible to sacrifice a force power for an extra lightsaber/saber staff which gives you an extra attack or something. Edited January 8, 2010 by simonjedi
Bounty Hunter Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 It's fine the way it is. And I would guess in the old republic since there are so many sith.

I want the game to be quickly rewarding - this would make it too long for people to progress. A slightly lengthier progression is definately something I'll be considering for future versions of Jedi Duel. The timeline isn't massively important to be honest, Jedi Duel could be set in any era we desire! Old Republic does work well... There is a mastery ability called Saber Flurry which effectively mean your character has two sabers - very good with one. Take a look at Darth Kurss... Just a quick thanks to everyone who's adjudicated by the way! (Keyboard ran out of batteries mid typing ythere!) Edited January 9, 2010 by pedro

JimBee Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 How is saber flurry used? (See my question in the duel thread). BTW, I'm not quite sure how Flurry works. Does BH tell me if he wants the attack to be a high, low, or mid, or does it apply to any one low/mid/high previously of my choosing?
pedro Posted January 9, 2010 Author Posted January 9, 2010 How is saber flurry used? (See my question in the duel thread). Sabre Flurry is 'attached' to a High, Mid or Low attack and doubles the damage on that attack.
Bounty Hunter Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Sabre Flurry is 'attached' to a High, Mid or Low attack and doubles the damage on that attack. oh I didn't use it right then
pedro Posted January 9, 2010 Author Posted January 9, 2010 Here's what you'd write in your DS: X - Sabre Flurry -or- X - Flurry Where X is High, Mid or Low. Just make it clear. It doubles the damage on that attack but remember it's still defeatable as per the High, Mid, Low system.
JimBee Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Ah, thanks for clearing that up, pedro. Good thing it was countered anyway.
Bounty Hunter Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 pedro, since I am a sith lord, If I win another match, even though I can not get a high rank could I get another force skill?
pedro Posted January 9, 2010 Author Posted January 9, 2010 pedro, since I am a sith lord, If I win another match, even though I can not get a high rank could I get another force skill? No. By the time you are a Lord or Master, you should have selected 2 Force Abilities and 2 Mastery Abilities - that's all you get I'm afraid! Once you're at the top of the game the game becomes more challenging as you face off against other Masters and Lords and the competition is more about who is the best duelist (or Chosen One?). The combination of abilities affect the way in which your and other player's characters play. It is possible to gain all 3 Force Abilities available to you character though, by selecting the Force Adept Mastery Ability.

pedro Posted January 9, 2010 Author Posted January 9, 2010 Could I get force push if I win my next duel? At the moment you have: Force Abilities - Force Lightning - Force Choke Mastery Abilities - Sabre Flurry - As far as I can see you've won 4 duels, which basically means you're free to choose your next Mastery Ability. If you choose Force Adept, you can select Force Push and add it to your Force Abilities. Bare in mind you can still only use 2 Force Abilities per round, but you'll have a choice of 3.

I have both 2 master and both 2 regular. but there is a 3rd regular I don't have. If I win my 5th duel, could I pick up the 3rd regular? Even w/o Force Adept?

I think you need to update your character in the Databank - I copied the info above from there and there's no 2nd Mastery Ability listed... hence slight confusion.

I picked Endurance. If I win my next match could I gain force push? JUST force push?
pedro Posted January 9, 2010 Author Posted January 9, 2010 ok, now look. I picked Endurance. If I win my next match could I gain force push? JUST force push? No dude. That's the rules. It'd unbalance the game and render a Mastery Ability pointless. You've done well so far and managed to create a powerful Sith Lord. You're the first EB member playing Jedi Duel and get to that rank - congratulations! Now let's see if you can hold onto that perfect run of wins...

Commander Flash Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 This is one great game! Fast paced and it is challenging to think of what the opponent will do BountyHunter is like the Ken Jennings (of Jeopardy!) of Jedi Duel

It's a different tack of forum game from what we normally see. BH is doing very well with Hawke Koor. I'm interested to see more of the EB staff get involved too!
Commander Flash Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Always interesting seeing Shadows or Hinckley, or any of the other staff for that matter, play games. Gets interesting.
Sisco Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 This seems like it would be fun! I have my Jedi made, and I'll post pics in the mornin'.
