RileyC Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 Hey,Just wanted to check player's preference on my layout of their duels. Are you all happy with me creating a single post for your duel then updating it with subsequent rounds (as I've been doing)? Or would you rather I created a new post for each round of your duels? Or does it matter? I think a new post for each round because I use this button to view topics so I dont have to go through the whole topic. Also I got confused with the single post way and you got mad at me
pedro Posted March 28, 2010 Author Posted March 28, 2010 I think a new post for each round because I use this button to view topics so I dont have to go through the whole topic. Also I got confused with the single post way and you got mad at me Aw, no! I didn't get mad at you! :kissbetter: I'll update each rund with a new post if it mkaes it easier.
pedro Posted March 30, 2010 Author Posted March 30, 2010 RULE ALTERATION - Sabre Master I've decided to alter the Sabre Master to fully encompass the Force Push ability and make the ability's title more relevant. The previous rule read like this: • Sabre Master - Unparalleled with the lightsaber, attack counters cause 1 damage to opponent. Attacks affected are: High, Mid, Low, Kick, Sabre Throw, Force Lightning and Sabre Flurry. Passive. Note: Because of the defensive nature of Parry, Force Push, Force Shield and Force Choke (and the fact that this ability primarily affects attacks) these are not affected by Sabre Master. And will now read like this: • Combat Master - An expert in close combat, attack counters cause 1 damage to opponent. Attacks affected are: High, Mid, Low, Kick, Force Push, Sabre Throw, Force Lightning and Sabre Flurry. Passive. Note: Defensive abilities and actions: Parry, Force Shield and Force Choke, are not affected by Combat Master. This change is effective immediately. Spread the word.
Eskallon Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Does Force Push beat Parry? Just wondering and if not what does it beat.
pedro Posted April 2, 2010 Author Posted April 2, 2010 Does Force Push beat Parry?Just wondering and if not what does it beat. Force Push defeats Parry and only Parry. If the Jedi or Sith using the power has Combat Mastery (was Sabre Mastery), then Force Push will beat Kick also.
pedro Posted April 16, 2010 Author Posted April 16, 2010 (edited) Legonater asked me to clarify Battle Meditation and I thoguh I'd post me response here for everyone to see... Battle Meditation So my bit of info goes like this: The character can use the Force to sway the outcome of the duel, conferring the following abilities: 1) During the second round the character can opt to reduce the duel by one round. Character automatically blocks when this ability is used. Active. 2) The character always wins Sudden Death rounds automatically. Note: When 2 characters with Battle Meditation duel, their Meditation powers cancel each other out! Battle Meditation is an ability of 3 parts: The first part of the ability is used actively in the 2nd round of a duel as an action. What BM does is shorten the duel to 2 rounds meaning the duel ends there. That's right, no 3rd round. If this leaves opponents drawn equal in health then normally this would lead to a Sudden Death round... which leads to the third part of the ability. Secondly, you never need to worry about using it as an action as it also acts like Force Shield when you use it, cancelling your opponent's action. Bare in mind this is only useable in this capacity in the 2nd round. The third part of BM is passive and means that if a draw is reached at the end of a duel - which would normally lead to sudden death - the Battlle Meditator wins automatically without proceeding to a sudden death round. So technically a character with BM will never have to play a sudden death unless he or she comes against another Battlle Meditator in which case the abilities cancel each other out. So really BM is best used when you've had a great 1st round to ensure your opponent can't come back. It acts as Force Shield so will cancel an opponents action. Even if you choose not to use it'll still secure you with a win should you draw against your opponent. I hope that helps! I've yet to have seen anyone use it effecively yet, but look forward to when it happens. Edited April 16, 2010 by pedro

The Legonater Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Nice work yet again I forget if i asked this before, but will there be more tournaments? I imagine this is a lot of work, but it would be neat.
pedro Posted September 3, 2010 Author Posted September 3, 2010 I forget if i asked this before, but will there be more tournaments? I imagine this is a lot of work, but it would be neat. I'm not sure how soon I'll be able run another tournament with a baby on the way but that shouldn't stop anyone else from running a tournament if they want to. All the rules are here on EB and I'm happy for anyone to run their own contest or even use the combat system to enhance any of their RPG's. There's many players who are familiar with JD and there might be more who are willing to play. I think my next plan for Jedi Duel is v2.0... in between baby-feeds.
Minxter Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Hmm.. The duel topic is dead last post was in may. Too bad. If anyone wants to duel please pm me or say so here. I dont want to bump the other thread. Minxter

XimenaPaulina Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 (edited) Just a question, who are eligible to adjudicate duels? Is it only the Masters? Or jedi initiates/padawans/acolytes could adjudicate also? I've observed, and completely understand, that sometimes pedro and the masters couldn't accomodate duels and there are some duelists waiting for adjudicators. I though I could volunteer to help adjudicate duels since I frequently visit the duel thread. EDIT: Found out the answer a couple of pages back. I'll try to help adjudicating whenever I can. pedro Posted October 1, 2010 Author Posted October 1, 2010 EDIT: Found out the answer a couple of pages back. I'll try to help adjudicating whenever I can. Cool! It's worth noting that if anyone wants to run their own JD tournament just run it by me first - and Dragonator too of course.
