Athos Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 I'm still a little mixed on this line... which is really an improvement because when I heard about it, I was dismayed and disgusted. :D I am happy to see that it is mostly regular bricks. Not a specialized/new piece in there (absenting Mr. Squarepants of course). And looks like he's got stubby legs. I hope we get some good accessories. Not much else to add, just yet. Steve Quote
john cleese Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 I think that through the hole in his bed,an axle is put with Sponge on the bed.Pull the axle out and he is catapulted away. kahgarak, no offense but thankyou Proffeser Obvious. I cant wait, since im only fourteen and my birthdays not till summer i might have to get the Sponge Bob sets as early B-day presents, and i cant stop laughing at the sponge bob minifig  Quote
alex54 Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 First, i'm very happy that TLC give us the first picture, It meens that EB is a very good site (I know that before!) and second, like the other too, i'm really well surpised by this picture. It really has the spirit of bob l' Quote
beatnik Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 And we get more! More Pics: -Jeramy Edit: Sorry, didn't see the other thread. Quote
Aredhel Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 In general I do not like Spongebob. The movie and the serial is not the kind of things I like, but the set looks cute!! Quote
Aeturnus Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 there are pictures posted on toywiz if anyone is interested.prelim pictures of spongebob and his neighbours house with the speedboat car..and a ucs sponge bob.also the avatar pictures are there too. Quote
Cutty Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Love it! although the pineapple looks strange in the pics. great minifig-concept. one gripe: a spongebob minifig will, apart from being torn apart, hardly serve as a different character than spongebob... Quote
crispen Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 yeah, i wish TLC would make a UCS spongebob like this: Quote
prateek Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 only if he had black pants with white and brown decos on it... Quote
Darkkazmo Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Oh my lord of darkness! After seeing all those pics, definitely I'm gonna be broke this year! Look at all those goodies, and those really nifty parts! Why oh why I'm into this cursed hobby called LEGO? *wacko* Quote
Djmonkey Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 That looks pretty cool ooh ooh aah ahh! Quote
The Hordesman Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Spongebob= Armor when painted and stickered. I will steal his pillow! :ninja: Quote
Jipay Posted February 2, 2006 Author Posted February 2, 2006 Oh my lord of darkness! After seeing all those pics, definitely I'm gonna be broke this year! Look at all those goodies, and those really nifty parts! Why oh why I'm into this cursed hobby called LEGO? *wacko* I couldn't agree more : 2005 was bad for our wallets, 2006 will kill them  Quote
JoeMI6 Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, it's good actual lego. But on the other hand i despise Spongebob in any form. But luckily i'm never gonna be forced to buy it. (i hope not) Quote

Why oh why I'm into this cursed hobby called LEGO? *wacko* I couldn't agree more : 2005 was bad for our wallets, 2006 will kill them  Tell me about it Jipay, I even still haven't bought all the Technic sets yet, and some of those city construction sets! Now, not only I need to buy those, I also need to buy them in multiple quantities for parts... And yes I'm still talking about the 2005 assortment! :$ As for 2006, man, I guess I'm gonna be intensely broke this year! Looks like the Star Wars sets were only the icing on the cake... LEGO for sure have out done them selves this year, now, if they only bring the Space theme back! I mean for 2007 Quote
Aeturnus Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Atleast train series has been ruined.that should save some money. :-D Quote
jonfett Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 First of all, great stuff with getting the pics from TLC (an offical EB first! ) The set doesn't look as bad as I assumed, lets look forward to some more good news! Jon. Quote
Dino_Bot Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 I...dislike Spongebob, and I cannot understand why they would make Lego Spongebob. Just goes to show you how popular he is... *is going to be sick* Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 Spongebob isn't a show I can watch over and over, but EVERY episode is worthy of being seen once. It's a kiddy show, but there's some good humor, sometimes adult, hiding all over it. The fig looks ok... but the second someone mentioned there were no sleeves and the legs were inaccurate, it's hard to look at without wondering how much better he could've been. But hey, they have time quotas to meet. Sculpting new legs up might've just derailed their release plans too far. Quote

It just goes to show you that most of the time people will only point out the bad things and complain about it (not reffering to you,Jinzo). -l2k- Quote
KMOI Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 Meh, I think new legs would have been a total waste. Afterall, this is Lego here, not action figures. And besides, could you imagine how Legobob Peglegs would look like? My brain hurts when even trying to imagine it. Quote
Vader Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 Yeah this is one time that im happy lego went with the legs on SB and didnt try soething different. Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 And besides, could you imagine how Legobob Peglegs would look like? My brain hurts when even trying to imagine it. Barferrific. If skeleton arms came in yellow, there MIGHT be hope for customization... but like you said, then his legs would be way long... and whatever were used as shoes would've looked even more silly. It would've had to have been a new piece... and if they had sculpted the arms, he'd have been 100% new parts. :-D Quote

Sometimes I found R&S a bit much, but Spongebob I always enjoy. Quote
