There's always this thread which is pinned at the top of this forum. ;-)

Yeah, i found it trough that tread, but I didn't think that I was a member of a user group, I finally checked it since I looked every were. Might I suggest to change the title to EB User Groups and ranks or is it just me who doesn't understand internet language that well.

Well, we like to think of them as groups rather than ranks...A grand duke doesn't out-rank you, they just have more posts and can store more PMs and media. It's not necessarily internet language but our way of describing how the EB community relates to each other.

At least I think. If I'm off, I hope another staff member will chime in and help me out. :-$

I understand completly, but, there's a but, the reason I was looking for 'ranks' was that I wanted to know when I would go up, since I'm a vassal I can't post in the sale/trade section yet, and I really wanted to know when I would go up a 'rank'. The theory of groups instead of ranks is a great idea to keep everybody more or less equal, but it's maybe a litle bit confusing. Anyway, it seems I'm maybe the first to bring this up, so it must be me ;-)

Honestly, when I first looked for it I searched for ranks too... :-$

I think a re-name would be a good idea. Jipay does refer to here in the EB User Groups topic afterall so calling one "User Groups" and the other "Ranks" could be a bit confusing. 8-|

well i think the word rank fits just fine. the more posts, the higher the rank and the more abilities on this site. That way, you grow on this site and we get more time to get you integrated into the community...

I thought there might be a deeper meaning behind using member groups and not ranks. :-$

I think there's something wrong with the search function.
Perhaps, but I just did a search and I found this and the EB User Groups topics. You have to realise that search engines typically prioritise larger and more recently active topics.

I agree.

Hi!

I thought there might be a deeper meaning behind using member groups and not ranks. :-$

Functionalitywise in this forum we are looking at true ranks: a property of ranks is that any arbitrary lower rank has a subset of rights of any arbitrary higher rank. Besides, in forums that is the common denomination.

With user groups (e.g. computer users), it normally is different. The rights of two arbitrary groups may intersect, but one is not necessarily a subset of the other (in theory computer user groups may also comprise a rank system, but no one would call it by that name).

Anyhow: after all the wording does not change the functionality, so whether someone talks about user groups or ranks in this forum, there will be no misunderstanding.

P.S.: Good thing there is no rank of bondsmen ;-)

The groups thread seriously needs an update. I'm seeing now that *vader* is a Dark Lord Admin', or something.

Update ON

Thanks Tau. Give us some time. There's lot of stuff to update. But, seriously Thank you, because I forgot about that thread...

Just out of curiosity. It would appear that Ras 74 has an unidentified (in the index) rank of "Event Coordinator." Is this in any way related to the 2008 Eurobricks Event?

No. It's for the 2009 Eurobricks Event.

Does anyone know anything about the EB group system thing. You know Vassal, Citizen, Knight, Fellow. What do they mean and how do you change groups? (Probably a admin question)
