Captain Zuloo Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 It's our PM spam solution. It's hard to explain, but if you're a Vassal and you can't do PMs, make one post and you should be promoted out of "I'm new!". But I saw a member with 70 + posts who was still in the 'I'm New!' group. And is the Siegfried thing permanant? Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted April 8, 2009 Eurobricks Emperor Posted April 8, 2009 But I saw a member with 70 + posts who was still in the 'I'm New!' group. The next time such a member posts he'll automatically go to the right group. Quote
Siegfried Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 And is the Siegfried thing permanant? Didn't you read my welcome topic? Quote
Luke McAwesome Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I'm not patient enough to skim through twenty pages. So, how many posts/what rank do you have to have/be to send PMs? -Striker Quote
Erdbeereis Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I believe you can send P.M.s pretty much right away, maybe 20 posts or so. It used to be as soon as you joined, but I think the staff changed it to a few posts to avoid spammers. Quote

Bartram Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I just saw a member (Pirate Pete) who has the citizen rank but only 29 posts? How is this possible? Quote
Ricecracker Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I just saw a member (Pirate Pete) who has the citizen rank but only 29 posts? How is this possible? I believe they changed the rank to a minimum of twenty posts, along with adding a new rank, all in a bid to reduce spam. To get the exact reasoning, as well as any other information, ask a Mod or Admin. Quote

Siegfried Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I think he was given special permission to be a citizen. Something before the BSTF rule. Somebody give that Tusken a prize! Yes, that's exactly it. It was the other reason why we split the Vassals; some people (such as customisers) don't post much due to time reasons, but they have something special to sell. Our old solution was to force a promotion, but it was a waste of staff resources. Thus by this change were we're both cruel and kind! Quote
Bartram Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 (edited) Ah, ok. Thanks for the replies Ricecracker, Natman, and Siegfried. EDIT: Anybody care to explain this image? Edited June 25, 2009 by Bartram Quote
Lego_Warlord_8 Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 I was wandering how someone could rank up. (if thats what you call it.) cause' i see some people are 'citizens' or 'fellows' or 'vassals' and the like and i was wandering what it was all about. so if anyone can tell my that would be awesome. ~LW 8~ Quote
Ricecracker Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 You can find everything you need to know here . Quote
Spyder Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 (edited) Here's a link to the page. Darn, you beat me to it, Ricecracker. You rank up by your post count. So no spam fests. (Awww man! ) This doesn't mean you will become a moderator though, they are chosen. I have a very strong feeling that this topic will be closed, but I'm not one to decide that. Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted June 23, 2009 Eurobricks Emperor Posted June 23, 2009 Seems the answer is given, so I'll close this. Please do look around a bit in the future, you'll find a pinned thread about this subject in "Website and Forum". Quote
Big Cam Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 I can't explain that image but I just read this thread again, and thought, don't all these badges leave peopel out? I could see some younger users (this is lego anyway) who might get hurt by not having logo's when others do. Plus isn't that alot of stuff to keep track of for the staff. Either way, just an observation, plus I think it would be cool to have every single icon in a thread so we can look up what they mean. I know there is a thread for admin/vassl/moderator, and such, but all the little icons I think are uncateloged? Quote
Rick Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 (edited) I can't explain that image but I just read this thread again, and thought, don't all these badges leave peopel out? I've always been taken seriously here, so I don't think the whole rank system excludes people. I could see some younger users (this is lego anyway) who might get hurt by not having logo's when others do. Plus isn't that alot of stuff to keep track of for the staff. Just 10 more posts and you'll be a citizen. Most ranks (vassal, citizen, knight, count, duke) are automatic based on the number of posts. So it isn't what they're occupied with. Either way, just an observation, plus I think it would be cool to have every single icon in a thread so we can look up what they mean. I know there is a thread for admin/vassl/moderator, and such, but all the little icons I think are uncateloged? That may be a good idea, although I didn't actively search whether there is such a thread already. Most are pretty self-explanatory (except for the Toaster, but that seems to be inexplicable anyway ). Edited July 31, 2009 by Rick Quote
Stauder Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 A Tag index would be a great idea, if anyone has the time for it. That may be a good idea, although I didn't actively search whether there is such a thread already. Most are pretty self-explanatory (except for the Toaster, but that seems to be inexplicable anyway ). Have you tried asking? Stauder. Quote
Rick Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 No, I've already been PM'ed about it without explicitly asking Quote
The Rancor Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 Why exactly do Stauder and some other people have a picture of a toaster? Is it because they like toast, because I do too I think only higher ranked people have it, but as as far as I know it's not for contests. Quote

Stauder Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 (edited) As I just told Rick via PM, and am too lazy to re-type, so I will just quote myself. Actually, I won't. It's a inside joke. Rick you tell no one! Stauder. EDIT: Big Cam, if you managed to read it, good for you. Those who are really curious will go check the Title Archives topic in the community forums. Big Cam Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 (edited) I read in the thread that explains admin/mod/vassal/knight and all those, that's it's an inside joke between a few people. EDIT: well that's better than my explanation. Edited July 31, 2009 by Big Cam Quote
Luke McAwesome Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 Good heavens, people, research! I have nothing against Fabuland. It's a nice theme. Just don't think about it too hard. It's like a toaster, first you think it is magical, because you put bread in, toast comes out, but where does the bread go? Then you find out the truth, and now the toaster is just a metal can with two holes in it, numerous electric coils, a spring, a timer and some thinga-mag-iggies. Best line ever, Stauder. They should put that on Wikipedia on the page for toasters. Remember, you can't spell "Epic" without spelling "Toaster". See here for the true beginning of the toaster cult, of which I wish I was accepted in. *bows down* Quote
