Scouty Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 "In the Hall of the Mountain King" By Grieg...err...something. (doesn't say last name :-( ) Quote
oo7 Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 It was composed by Edvard Grieg for Henrik Ibsen's play Peer Gynt, and too bad Halloween is already over. :-( http://files.kendormusic.com/str2004/mp3/stra01.mp3 Now I am listening to some other classic belated-Halloween tunes. Danse Macabre Sorcerer Bald Mountain Quote
Scouty Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Edvard Grieg, thanks :-) . I didn't think that the "King" was for a Halloween themed play(???)(No?) Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Moya My favorite song by my favorite post-rock band. Awesome instrumental tracks. Give them a shot, you won't be dissapointed. Quote
UniqueBuilder Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 AC/DC - Who Made Who ;-) To those who don't listen to AC/DC: Download some songs with Bon Scott on vocals, eg. Shot down in flames, Walk all over you, Touch too much, High Voltage and so on. :-) You' won't be disappointed! :'-) Quote
Scouty Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 Pirates of the Caribean: Curse of the Black Pearl I really enjoy orcheastral and soundtrack music, most songs with voices are my least favorite. Quote
oo7 Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Edvard Grieg, thanks :-) . I didn't think that the "King" was for a Halloween themed play(???)(No?) It wasn't originaly specific to Haloween but it is now accosiated with it through Popular Culture. ;-) Pirates of the Caribean: Curse of the Black PearlI really enjoy orcheastral and soundtrack music, most songs with voices are my least favorite. You have a good taste of music Imperial Scouts. I really like instrumentals but some vocals are good too, except rap. I ripped POTC from a Library CD along with some Jurassic Park, Star Wars, and James Bond. If you like instrumentals like POTC I also strongly suggest Jurrasic Park. The Pink Panter (I'm playing that in orchestra class), BTTF, and Indiana Jones are pretty good too. I like Star Trek TNG too. Quote

I like Star Trek TNG too. Thank you! I loved Jurrasic Park and it's music! All the names you listed there(except Star Trek) I really like. An orchestra class, interesting! I also happen to be in one, except it is a performance orchestra, it's called the EPYO. We're playing some classic songs like Beethoven and Brahms, but we're also playing Over The Rainbow, a couple other theatrical songs ( though I am not familiar with them) and, one of my favorites, a mix of a bunch of songs in one song from POTC. I play the cello btw X-D . Also, I really like some operas like Il Barber de Seville, and some other ones. What is BTTF? I am unfamiliar with that one? Oh yeah, thank you for the link, I've been playing those two lines repeatedly. Quote
oo7 Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 Your welcome my friend. In our school they have to classes that they call "Band" and Orchestra", but it's really just "Wind instruments and percussion" and "Strings". It's quite stupid how they seperate us, it makes no sence to me. I play the cello too, a 3/4 to be presice X-D. We are playing Ashokan Farewell (composed by NY composer Jay Ungar), El Relicario (Spanish folk song), a rondeau called Rondeau and some music from the opera Hansel and Gretel. So, you live in Pittsburgh? If so I live about 400 miles NE of you. BTTF=Back to the Future, I should have writen it out but I was too lazy. Quote
Scouty Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 OOoooh, I loved Back to the Future *wub* . How'd you know it'd be Pittsburgh? Just for the bennefit, East Pittsburgh Youth Orchestra. Not sure how far 400 miles is, but I'll have to check on that. Let's see here, theatrical songs are:Theme from "The last of the Mochians ( I believe that's a movie[?]), Moon River from "Breakfast at Tiffanys", The main theme of The Simpsons, POTC, Meditation from "Thais(again, is this a movie?), and Over the Rainbow as mentioned before. Our classic songs are: Procession of the SadarIvanov( I like this one.),Symphony No. 88 Hadyn (Like this one as well)Variations on a Theme of Hadyn by Johannes Brahms, Austrian Peasant Dance Gustav Mahler, Beethoven's NInth Symphony Finale, A Christmas Festival, Hym to the Fallen John Williams, Braveheart-James Horner, Schfe konnen sicher weiden-Bach-Stokowski, and In Tenmezzo, I think that's what it is, half of it is off the page. We've got quite alot of songs with probably a couple we wont play. I've been playing the cello for around 2 years now, how long have you? So are you in New York/ Vermont? Quote

Google is a beautiful thing.;-) I've been playing the cello for around 2 years now, how long have you? So are you in New York/ Vermont? I formally started in 4th grade and now I'm in 8th so that's 4.30 years. I live in the Hudon River Valley (NY) 30 miles from NYC. But now this thread is going off topic. So, I've heard from a family friend that the last of the Mochians was good but I don't like it as much as the others previously mentioned. Ya know, the publisher of "Over the Rainbow" is somehow distantly related to me about 6 generations back, he has the same last name. Quote

Ah, touche! I play the tenor horn in my school 'wind band'. It consists of me, one drummer, a couple of people playing trumpets, no-one knows how many clarinets and flutes and two teachers. We're currently plating stuff for Christmas and our signature tune, Mambo no 5. Its good cos I get the tune in the chorus X-D . Quote

legolad911 Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 Yes, this likely has been done before but I couldn't find it on the first 10 pages of the Community, so it must be a dead topic then. Since I basically always have music on when I'm on my pc, I'm pretty sure I can keep this alive on my own . Basic idea, just post the music you are currently listening to.I'll start off... Franz Ferdinand - Walk away I predict a Riot-Kasier Chiefs LL911 Quote
