JimBee Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Well, I haven't visited this thread in a very long time, and that's a shame. I really like seeing all of the musical tastes of EB members here. Cage The Elephant - Aint No Rest For The Wicked Been listening to Cage the Elephant lately Great band, hopefully I'll see them next time they come to Summerfest (world's largest music festival). I personally like "In One Ear". Bring me to Life by Evanescence Great song. I wish they were still together - they were one of the few heavy bands I like that had a female singer. Paramore is also pretty good in that category, though. Disturbed- Facade` I haven't listened to them in a while, but they are pretty good. I also like "Liberate". The Distance, By Cake. Again, another great band. I always thought the Flobots had a similar sound to Cake. I will admit though, you have some great bands. Muse, for example. Knights of Cydonia. If you'll watch the band, you'll see that it's very Wild West, mixed with future. American Wild West, thank you very much. I actually just recently got into Muse. I've been listening to interesting tunes such as . I simply love the bass in that song. Good old Mumford & Sons. I like "Little Lion King". Anyhow, I'm listening to The Diary of Jane (Acoustic Version) by Breaking Benjamin. I believe that that is the song that I'll sing at my school's Talent show this year. Unfortunately, with their latest album (Dear Agony), they've gotten way too repetitive for me. If you listen to all of the heavier songs on that album, the intro riffs are all almost exactly the same. They do a few good songs (in general), though: So Cold, Diary Of Jane, Anthem of the Angels... I prefer "Hurt - Johnny Cash". I prefer "Hurt - Nine Inch Nails". Seriously though, the original song by NIN is much better, IMO. Reznor pours all of his emotions into the lyrics, while Cash reads them off a page. Mad World - Gary Jules I love that song, as well as the video. One of the reasons I now want to see the movie "Donnie Darko", which previously I had thought too scary to watch. As for me, I've recently gotten into British electronic band Depeche Mode. I've heard them before, but I now realize how truly amazing they are. My favorite song by them is "Precious" from their 2005 album. The tune itself is great, but the video is one of the best I've ever seen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ts2DXY0zfLs&ob=av2e It's a shame a lot of their videos aren't available in America. Also, I've been listening to Linkin Park's new song "The Catalyst". I've gotten used to it (it's an okay song) over time, but I'm worried I won't like the sound of their new album (Sep 14). I've been an LP fan since their debut, but they keep changing, and their nu-metal roots are almost completely non-existent now. They were definitely my favorite band of all time when they were good, though. Quote
Sisco Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Again, another great band. I always thought the Flobots had a similar sound to Cake. Now that you mention it, the Flobots sound a lot like cake... Thanks for pointing that out! I actually just recently got into Muse. I've been listening to interesting tunes such as . I simply love the bass in that song. Yes, that's one of their better ones. I like Uprising and Supermassive Black Hole best, but all of their songs are excellent. Yes, that's annoying. I loved their earlier albums, though, such as Phobia. I love the songs you mentioned best. Yeah, I'm a little worried as well. It seems that as soon as I get used to one of their styles, they change it the next day. I fear for the new album. They were great. Quote
Joey Lock Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 I like "Little Lion King". I prefer "Hurt - Nine Inch Nails". I love that song, as well as the video. One of the reasons I now want to see the movie "Donnie Darko", which previously I had thought too scary to watch. "Little Lion Man" you mean? Nah. Johnny Cashes one has meaning because it sounds like his Eulogy or Will, telling you about his life. Donnie Darko isn't scary at all, It's more of a "...What?" movie than an "Ahhh!" movie. Quote

Joey Lock Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Plan B - Suzanne It may be a Rap song but it's probably got to be the most scariest song's I've ever heard. The murder the song talks about only took place about 30 minutes away from where I live which makes me scared. Quote
VBBN Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Listening Disturbed's new album "Asylum" Really liking it, most of the songs make me think of Sickened and Forsaken, which have always been some of my favorite disturbed songs. At the moment I'm listening to this one, a very emotional song actually; As far as I know it's about his girlfriend who hung herself while she was pregnant with his child, but I'm not 100% sure.
