Brainbox Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 Cool! To bad our orchestra has NO PERCUSSION WHATSOEVER! Too bad. Ooh :-/ .Not to rub it in or anything, but we've managed to rope in a couple of guitarists as well. The concerts are on Wednesday and Thursday. They've been called Advent concerts this year, as opposed to Christmas. Don't know why. We've decided to cram in as much practise as we can before then :-| . Quote

I don't think there are any guitars in orcheastras. We've got a concert on the 17th :-) . Well I got my full size violoncello thursday and it's a lot of fun :-D . Quote
oo7 Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 Last year we played "Des Colores", a spanish folk song, and our teacher let two violins (both boys) play their guitars after they nagged at her for a while (The teacher later kidnapped a trumpet player from the 'band' X-D ). Everyone thinks playing non-traditional orchestra instruments is 'cooler'. Out of our two acoustic bases the male one grabs at any chance he can get to play the school's electric one, which is most of the time. But seriously if she wants to steal 'band students' for select songs, why don't they just permenatly combine us? :-| Right now I am listening to the noisey shifting of a mound of miscellanios Lego bricks. I know there aren't any guitars in orchestra, but thats not going to stop us >:-) . Seriously though, it sounds quite good. And good look with the concert :-) . Everyone thinks playing non-traditional orchestra instruments is 'cooler'. Out of our two acoustic bases the male one grabs at any chance he can get to play the school's electric one, which is most of the time. Oh, tell me about it! I'm the only horn player in our group, and I love it. I don't have to go through the hassle of tuning up (besides, the tuning slides on my instrument are jammed :-/ . Its not my fault though. Someone must've had it before me, and got them stuck :-| .), I can get away with playing the odd wrong note and I don't have to share a music stand. And another thing, no-one knows what a Tenor Horn is :-D . Quote
Scouty Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 I'm looking on for the complete score for In The Hall Of The Mountain King. Thanks brain, apparently, I have a solo concert(with a bunch of other people of course, but play by nyeslf) the next day. :'-( Eeep, my violoncello broke. The seals on the top broke in the leftcorner, I'll have to wait to get it fixed. Until then, I'm stuck with a rental until thursday, ugh, the sound is not as good as the one I chose :'-( . Quote
