I am still waiting for some missing parts to optimise :look: . I hope they arrive this week.

Here are some parts that I used for now:

Technic Axle 4 with Stop

Technic Brick 1 x 2 with Hole

Technic Bush 1/2 Smooth with Axle Hole Reduced

Technic Cross Block 1 x 2 (Axle/Pin)

Technic Pin Long

Turntable 2 x 2 Plate, Complete Assembly with Light Bluish Gray Top

I can't wait to see how this comes out, hopefully your solution works as well as the tan magnet holders as cutting off the money for the magnets would be enough to bricklink The Invisible Hand.

Just stumbled on this build and love it! Was wondering if I could purchase instructions/plans? Looks like a great challenge and just looks great!

Tried PM you but my status on this forum prevents me. Will try your gmail , mine starts w/ nurp.

So as I am nearing all parts ordered for this project, how does one move this ship from spot to spot because I will be building this in a different spot than where it will be displayed

The build is modular. So you can take modules appart and move them easily.

Otherwise, one hand on the tail, one hand under the ship, and you carry the model like it were a big machine gun. That's how I do.

I've found it quite easy to lift from the base supports. It is pretty big, but if you're careful, not hard to move.

The magnet replacement solution I used and showed on the Flikr album is holding very nicely. I changed the connectors slightly from pictured to align/shift the bottom plates slightly. I'll try to get better pics and designation of exactly where I ran the mounts.

I have to finish the last top left skin, but broke my neck mountain biking and can't work on it for a bit. Surgery next week, then maybe can finish it up.

Loving this ship. Trying to decide if I build the invisible hand MOC next. Wish it was more to scale with this Venator.

Damn, I read the whole thread and now I want to build this Venator, too. Never build a custom model before, always bougth the sets, but I think, this one will be a good one to start with it.

Jeff,

How many of the magnet replacements did you have to build i.e. was it the same number of magnets called for in the instructions? Do you have a list of the parts used and the quantities for each one?

Thanks!

Just started gathering parts...got the magnets (got lucky 20 bucks for 19) was wondering beside those what is the hardest part to get?

As in $20 for the tan magnet holders?!

2 tan, 6 grey, 11 black...saw a posting on craigslist, zoom in on the pic and saw the grey ones sitting there. most of the lot was useless..to me anyways.

Let me be clear, it wasn't a posting for lego magnets it was small bin lot..just lucked out...

It's official! My last bricklink order was placed today, so pending me receiving all correct orders (totaling 921 pieces), I will be preparing to build this ship soon (hopefully next Friday with my current schedule). Currently I have a huge bin filled with my currently owned 4495 pieces, all sorted out already thanks to the sellers I bought from, so this will make the build much easier.

Hello gents have a question...on the Levers whats the best way to get a quantity of those things??

And could you give a number of their value so i don't get crushed?

Thank You

-Doug

Hi Doug, unfortunately the LBG levers are very expensive, and in short supply. There are some for sale on Bricklink (here) but unless you're prepared to spend a fortune it may be worthwhile considering either the Black/LBG version which are a fraction of the cost (about 1-2p each) or possibly painting them yourself. I did notice that someone on Ebay was selling painted ones, which looked pretty good which may be an option. I used the Black/LBG version on my Bricklinked Falcons and they didn't look too bad! :classic:
