It's never happened to me, but I don't find it hard to believe. With the volume of sets the LEGO produces in a day, it's easier for me to believe this did happen, versus "it's impossible for it to happen."

It only takes a bored employee to drop a gift inside a box. Where's the thread someone started about a stamped smiley face inside their LEGO box? I think the consensus for most EB'ers was that it was a bored employee that put it there.

EDIT: Here it is.

In the power miners titanium driller thing I got an extra blue rock monster

that was bought in toys r us - guess if it's gonna go weird, that's the place

Actually, so did I in mine. One was bagged separately, one was in with the other stuff (can't remember if it had its own bag too). This wasn't Toys'R'Us, this was some chain in Italy.

As for parts not meant to be in the set, when I ordered missing parts for an Exo-Force set, they sent me two additional Storm Trooper helmets. And in the Fireman's Car set for the Daily Mirror promo last November, I got the criminal's head with the gold tooth instead of the correct one. Not sure if either of those really count, though, since the former isn't a real set and the latter was incorrect, not extra.

Is every single box weighed? That's a huge volume; I'd assumed that random cases would be selected to detect errors accross a full run. Doesn't seem economical to weigh every box, then rip open one that has a random extra Ahsoka figure.

i found a captinrex in my gunship instead of cody.

Hmmmm i suppose that could happen but theres 3 pieces different pieces between rex and cody other than the face and the gear. This is all done by machine but unlikely. Seems like many people are getting extra/different minifigures in their Lego sets recently  .

I have had missing pieces in many sets before. There have been times where I have gotten surprise extra pieces, but they were small.

The only notable extras I have gotten were and extra Pirate flag with Brickbeard's Bounty and the extra dress in the IFS, but everyone got that one

Sounds like it just the fact of a wrong torso getting in the wonrg batch, it will of course weigh the same and no one would really notice.

I only had an extra dark bluish gray legs in the HP Knights Bus.

But I also had one 1x6 black tile missing in the studios vampire set.

So I had no problems since 2004/2005

Yes it can be done. I use to work at an ice cream factory and I remember every thing got weight. And if it was under weight the box would get kicked off the line. I do not remember what happen to something that was overweight my guess that it would be just go on out. I would imagine most companies are run in a similar fashion especially if they were selling amounts of product.

For an efficiant production plant like I am almost positive a succesful company like LEGO would have, this is not that hard to imagine.

They probably have a macine that dumps the certain pieces to a scale, which measures it in a second or two and then dumps it back to an assembly line type of setup and bagged. it's obviously more complicated than that but if you ever watch shows like, "How it's made" you can see that steps like weighing don't take much time at all.

But still, as I've said, an entire instruction manual of a 60 doller set missing would diffenatly tip the scales.

I guess it depends what happens with sets that do get flagged overweight. If a whole batch accidently included an extra minifig it may be that one gets inspected, noted that they're only overweight due to extra pieces (thus unlikely to causes returns) and it's determined that it's more cost effective to ship them as-is than to fix the "mistake".

A couple months ago I got the Separatist Shuttle, and for some strange reason, it came with an Ahsoka Tano on accident! ( I got it at Toys R Us by the way.) Has this, or anything like this ever happened to you?

LOl -you were lucky if that was an extra- no never happened :hmpf_bad: - but would be a nice surprise- if i just would buy one Battlepack with extra Ackbar i would be be happy- let me guess you already have army of those Ahsokas

Perhaps the reason is simply that Ahsoka is always in wrong place at the wrong time

What i'm more surprised about that we're not getting reports of extra or random Assassin Droids in sets

There are tons of those lying around but I bet TLC can't even give them away!

I once opened an Assassin Droids battle pack, and I got an extra silver and an extra black torso, three extra silver arms arms, two flat, one bent, a silver and a black pair of legs, a silver head, and two silvers studs and a black stud.

The only thing missing were the clips to attach the head, otherwise I could've made a fourth silver assassin droid. :cry_sad:
