AllanSmith Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Using the windsreen and cylinder parts from Space Police 5972. Plus other parts from my very limited supply. I know the rear fuel tanks are too big but that's all I had to play with. Front view Front quarter view Side view Rear quarter view Rear view Based on this model Enjoy Quote
prateek Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 AWesome job! I really like the boosters at the back, and the 1x1 plates on them are a nice touch Quote
Siegfried Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Cool! Aside from the rear fuel tanks I prefer yours to mine. The yellow lights really make a lot of difference. You need a dog though. Quote

Clone OPatra Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 A nice, recognizable representation. And I just watched this movie yesterday! My only gripes would be that yes, those back engines are far too big, and I think the front engine sticks up too far being just stuck on top of the hood plate. Perhaps you could try using sloped pieces around the engine, but the lower it in a bit. Also, does this fit a figure, or is it not minifig-scale? It looks to me that the seat is awfully high up to fit a figure. Quote
AllanSmith Posted January 18, 2010 Author Posted January 18, 2010 Also, does this fit a figure, or is it not minifig-scale? It looks to me that the seat is awfully high up to fit a figure. I have now put in a minifig. But I cheated by removing seat and the minifigs legs. I only have 3 brick height to play with. Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 'AllanSmith' got your PM.....yes this Aussie air makes you build cool cars doesn't it eh ? Anyway you have done a great job on an awesome muscle car. But no wonder Max is mad, you are going to make him be legless ! Quote
JayDuck Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 "The last of the V8 Interceptors... a piece of history!" I'd agree that the fuel tanks are too big, but the front 2/3 is a good representation of the real thing. Quote
Legostein Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Hello! Another great car you've built here. Instantly recognizable from the movie complete with the smooth spoiler on the roof When you look closely at the headlight slopes you notice that some have a printed number in them, and some don't. Anyway, that's probably one of the few where the mototblock piece works that great. Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
user Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Great work! I've always loved mad Max's car an this is a great representation of it! I especially like the back! But shouldn't it be in Sci-fi instead of town? Quote
AllanSmith Posted January 20, 2010 Author Posted January 20, 2010 The Interceptor has been in the body shop. So please excuse the trans red, orange, white and blue colour scheme. Trans clear and black will need a Bricklink order. Replaced two trans yellow cheese to ones that don't have LEGO written on them. Moved front forward to be flush with bonnet (hood). The small gap down side has now gone. Installed smaller fuel tanks and spare wheel. Changed rear panel, lights, bumper. Quote
Big Cam Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Haha, that's great, I havent seen this movie in forever but you nailed it. These 6 wide cars have so many more posibilities than the old 4 wide ones. Great job! Quote
Jony Skywalker Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 (edited) Nice moc! Great using of Snot elements at the front of the car. Also the back is nice, but I was missing the tire there until you built the second version. 2nd Version = Top . Looks really good. I hope you will order the black pieces soon! Captain Zuloo Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 It was only a few weeks back when I went past the actual car at the Silverton Hotel 45 minutes from Broken Hill, and I gotta say I'm impressed! I look forward to the final pictures. Oh, and where's Max? Quote
AllanSmith Posted January 20, 2010 Author Posted January 20, 2010 Oh, and where's Max? Right hand drive. If you look inside you will see him. But he is only half the man he used to be. Too much beer made him legless Quote
-Jim- Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 is it possible to move the front wheel forward by 1 brick? or, insert a brick in front of the windscreen so to make the whole front end longer by 1 brick. Quote
AllanSmith Posted January 21, 2010 Author Posted January 21, 2010 is it possible to move the front wheel forward by 1 brick? or, insert a brick in front of the windscreen so to make the whole front end longer by 1 brick. Thanks for the suggestion. I have lengthened the bonnet (hood) by moving the door and windscreen back by 1 brick. This brings the back curves down to the rear corner spoilers. I must say that it now matches the proportions of the original a lot better. Photos to come of the car in random colours as earlier, until I do a Bricklink order. Quote
AllanSmith Posted January 21, 2010 Author Posted January 21, 2010 (edited) Updated photos as promised. Moved windscreen, roof and doors back. Fitted bumpers front and rear. Blower intake sits over front axles now. Car now more balanced and better matches the original car in photos in first post. All it needs now is a lot of Bricklink black parts. Thee Pirate Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 WOW!!! V3 is spot on. perhaps the only thing I would suggest changing would be somehow shortening the front overhand by 1 plate on the SNOT aspect of it.. I have some ideas on how to achieve this using the 1X1 brick with studs on 2 sides. (This way you can have the SNOT part on the front and you can use a black cheese on the back for the wheel arch.) I'm a huge fan of Mad Max and I must say, you did the Interceptor justice. That is far better than anything I can make with pieces in my collection. Quote
