Jar Jar Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Ok, lately, LEGO has put old skeletons in some of their sets. (Prince of Persia: Desert Attack, Star Wars: Hoth Wampa Cave.) Could this mean a return of our beloved floppy armed skeletons? Or will TLG just use those skeletons for dead people and the other battle droid armed skeleton for other uses? IMO, it would be icing on the cake for the old skeletons to come back! Post away! Quote
Tom Bricks Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 What do you mean? Of course there returning if there in the new sets. I like the old skeletons better anyway so it's nice ti see them return. Quote
iamded Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 (edited) Yes, I noticed one in a Prince of Persia set and was absolutely stoked. Although they may not be in the on-the-shelves product, I sure hope they do. I looked back at a final picture of Indiana Jones' Temple Escape set and noticed the ball and socket skellies were displayed, but the droid armed ones were actually used in the set. The way I see it, if the skeleton need to be posed holding something, or needs to stay still as decoration or whatever then the droid arm skellies will be used, but for your average dead Joe the ball and socket skellies will be used. Or so it should figure. Unless of course TLG is taunting us with their supply of ball and socket skellies, knowing we'll never get any new ones in future sets. ~Peace What do you mean? Of course there returning if there in the new sets. Oops, I misread that. They aren't definitively in the new sets (as in, unreleased sets, like the ones Jar Jar was discussing), but they are featured in preliminary images. Like the Temple Escape set, they may be changed to droid armed skeletons in the final releases. Edited January 19, 2010 by iamded Quote
Delta 38 Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 I haven't actually got one of the old skeletons, but I think I prefer them to the current ones. I hope that they are released in future sets though, because I'm curious to see what they're like. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 I'm not sure what picture of Wampa Cave you're looking at, Jar Jar, since the one I've seen clearly has the mechanical-arms skeleton. If you look at the most recent link to the prelim pics in the Star Wars forum, you will see that it is a droid-arm skellie in the Wampa Cave, so right now, the only set to display a floppy skellie is the PoP one. user Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Well did anybody notice that Pirate code had the old skellie in it? Quote
Xenophilius Studz Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Return of the old skellie? Neat! I like those guys better than the more recent skeletons. Arms flopping all over the place is perfect when you a dead corpse lying in a MOC. And, I only have on ball-and-socket skeleton, so the more the merrier! Quote
ILikePi Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 It does seem that ball-socket skeletons are returning in some sets, but not all. If they are going to be widely used again, I wish that TLG would try doing something like adding small friction ridges on the sockets so that the arms can be posed and have a huge amount of articulation. I doubt that will happen, but we can always dream! Yes, I noticed one in a Prince of Persia set and was absolutely stoked. Although they may not be in the on-the-shelves product, I sure hope they do. It might not be ball-bearing, but definitely something new. I'm definitely glad that at least some sets have the old skellies. I can understand battle-droid Fantasy Era stuff, but I really don't like it in any other themes. Quote
Jar Jar Posted January 19, 2010 Author Posted January 19, 2010 (edited) Well did anybody notice that Pirate code had the old skellie in it? This might be a weird question, but what is a Pirate code? I don't recall a Pirate set (Or if it is a set.) with an old skellie. Edited January 19, 2010 by Jar Jar Quote
