You asked me for some advice, well here you go :pir-sweet:

I would try to make the side window galleries a bit more curved from the stern towards the sides of the ship.

This can be done by making the stern a bit wider, especially on the top (on these ships the stern is below just a tiny bit wider than on the top).

In that way your side galleries start from a greater distance from the hull and can be curved towards it like on Blackmoor's Fourageux.

The decorations on your stern are very nice, but usually it was the most decorated part of a ship, so with some different colours there the stern may look even better.

Changing the brown inverted slopes below the stern into black slopes is also worth a try IMO.

I hope this can be of some help to you, feel free to use some of my ideas.

Good luck! It's a very nice ship already :pir-sweet:

hey admiral thanks for your advice, abut the sides of the stern you are right it is way to steep, i have tried to change it but, that didn't work out.

on 15-9 my wife has given birth to a wonderfull baby girl, for now is takes all the spare time i've had, so the phoenix will be put aside for a wile.

Congrazulations! You have now become a father eh? Maby you shall give us a pic from her? And remember, family first, Lego comes to the Second.

Take a good care of your wife and your girl Nassau. Once more, Congrazulations!

Congrats... well for you... I personally hate babies (Yeah, I am a horrible person, blah blah blah, etc etc) for many reasons but I dont have to explain myself... Well really I hate people in general, but babies are the worst. Still congrats :pirate_sad2:

Anyway, I cannot wait until you have more time to work on this beauty again :pir_laugh2:

Congratulations indeed! :pir-classic:

Good luck on the stern. You could try to just make it without a slope if a small slope is too difficult.

Just try some different techniques (when you have time to build again of course :pir-wink: ) and see what looks best.

The new stern is already a large improvement over the previous version, but there is still room for improvement like you already said yourself.

Since you are building a 3 decked ship, there would actually be 3 cabins, my advice would be to try and get the windows to match the height of the decks and create 3 cabins. The underside of the stern at the rear could also be improved, right now I don't really like the brown slopes under the middle window.

Something like this might look better:

dear CGH thank you for your relpy

i totaly see your point! but the problem is that the rear window is placed 2 stud wider out of the ship than the first window, cause i wanted it to look a bit round. in dutch the word is 'erker' but in english i dont know wat its called. that was the look i was trying to create. and the problem withe te sides of the stern i also so your point there, i was building the sides appart from the schip, useing minifig lenght 5 studs high, and i need to change that also, perhaps tonight between 21.00 and 00.00 i cant build a bit, when my little girl is sweet a sleep (don't count on it :pir-wink: )

I really like the balcony, they make it an older ship, and old ships rule!

I don't really get the placement of the windows though, on the galleries they run up as if there was a stairwell and on the rear they are a bit too round I think.

But I like the way you are thinking, keep it up!

The windows seem fine to me! :pir-classic: Oh, wait, are you meaning that the windows are 1 stud higher then the other? If so, I have to agree. But finally we have something to take on the Unicorn! :pir-tongue:

Looks nice. The stern is definitely an improvement. However, I would try not to make the hinges show. Keep up the great work and congrats on your new daughter :pir-classic:

I think at the stern loooks a bit... weird to be honest. Maby you can look some pics at HMS Victorys stern. But i guess the earlier version of the stern was much better than this. Anyway, good luck for this.

Captain Becker

EDIT: Oh, Joey`s HMS Unicorn has a great stern at me, take a look on that one too.

If you make the side gallery windows on the same level and make the stern on top almost (just 1 or 2 studs difference) as wide as below, I think it will look good.

Comparing the last 2 pictures I see much improvement. This is becoming a very fine ship.

Good luck :pir-sweet:

It starts to become a mighty vessel indeed! It's great to see the evolution your ship is going through, you have also inproved yourself a lot! The stern is a hard part to do and the bow causes even more problems, but you will handle it for sure!

I see you've got already some advice about the current stern, I don't really have much to add. The picture CGH put down there is a very good one. Now all what is left is to decide which bricks are needed to create these weird curves, order them and on you go!

Good luck! :pir-sweet:

I think this is quite offensive, I'm rather impressed by it as Claus build it without help and/or tips from anyone.

Please choose your words more careful in the future.

thanks for taking it up for me, that phoenix was build 5 or 6 years ago, with the bsb as a base, and if i would have liked it... it wouls not be in the shape it is now becoming :pir-wink: and because i want it to be as good as it can be, i will keep taking it apart and rebuild it until there is nothing left to inprove.
