sebby Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Hi all, I only found this site a few days ago (whilst looking for some Lego ideas) and have been reading so many post I thought I might as well join in. About me, well I am a 34 Y/O English man with 4 kids. I got into Lego when I was 10 and my first set was 6392 Airport and it just keep growing. Like an idiot I sold all my Lego when I was 18 so I could go out drinking When my eldest turned 5 I started buying him Lego (mostly Res-Q and space port) under the illusion that they was for him and not me. I now have 2 young boys (7&6) and a young girl (5) who I have also turned to Lego and a great excuse for me to keep buying. Also this year I got my hands on my first train set 7898 Cargo Train Deluxe and am gutted that I did not buy a train set earlier. This one set has really renewed my interest in Lego and I have already started to tinker with it. I have also started to get some add ons for it like 7997 Train Station and extra track. The kids insisted that if I had a train I needed a train station. 10194 Emerald night is going to be my next one until the new sets come out in August. I also have some plans for my own custom trains and add ons. We now nearly have all the Lego city set for the last 3 years now so I might as well try and finish and get them all. As soon as I have finished decorating the living room I will post some pictures for you all. Quote

Zorbas Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Welcome to Eurobricks sebby! One more AFOL who had a LEGO childhood has joined our big community! A city-town fan? Even better! It's great to hear that you got back into LEGO for good. About selling your childhood collection , it's a sad thing but don't worry, WE (AFOLS) control the wallet now and you can still make the comeback! Enjoy your stay in here and have lots of fun! When my eldest turned 5 I started buying him Lego (mostly Res-Q and space port) under the illusion that they was for him and not me. Quote

Thanks for the welcome Welcome aboard, sebby. Are you letting your kids dictate your Lego purchases too? Sort of. They was dictating the style of Lego I got to city only until I brought then a Lego football pitch to go into our town and at the moment they are leaving me alone to concentrate on the train sets for a while. But is going to be one of the kids birthday next month so I guess the town will be getting a bit bigger again About selling your childhood collection , it's a sad thing but don't worry, WE (AFOLS) control the wallet now and you can still make the comeback! Yes it a decision I regret ever time I look at the lists of older sets and think I had that and that. As for a city-town fan. Me and the kids are but we do have some Indiana and Star wars sets but they have mostly been cannibalized into the town now. According to brickset we have 106 different sets but every time I look I find older set that that I have completely forgot about and have to add them. Quote
