lightningtiger Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Fantastic rescue equipment 'Ricecracker' - a really excellent job on all three - especially the saw......talking about heavy duty ! Can't wait to see the 'jaws of life' and like wise - I'm a conformist! 'Ricecracker' I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Ricecracker Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 Thanks again, guys! Here's what it looks like as of tonight: I sure have a lot more to do in one day... Quote
slacker int Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Just saw the completed trucks, figs, and station house on flickr. Great work Ricecracker, a truly impressive build! Quote

BlueBard Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Amazing job, Ricecracker, really! The building structure is really impressive (especially the walls' decorations techniques) and the vehicles go wonderfully with! BRAVO! Quote
Rick Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 I really like what you did to the final version of the engine, Isaac: the opening compartments are great. The woodwork on the firehouse turned out really nice as well. Do you have any more pictures available of the firehouse and did you make - or are you planning on making - an interior for it? I just can't get used to the minifigs with long legs, but I guess the proportions are better that way. Quote
prateek Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 (edited) Yes! This is great. I love the roofing on the station, and the firemen pants are genius Edited March 16, 2010 by prateek Quote

I'm going to try to get some more up in a few days, and then again in a month or two. One of the sides is actually finished. I don't have an interior, but there isn't really much room for it. The technical parts take up a lot of room, especially for the roof and remote control garage doors. From the get-go I figured there'd be a lot of people opposed to the added height, but I really wanted to get the stripes there, and I think the height is now more correct. Thanks Bluebard and prateek, too Quote
John31388 Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 (edited) Great job it turned out beautiful Care to share how you build that beautiful fire truck? Edited March 17, 2010 by John31388 Quote
Ricecracker Posted March 21, 2010 Author Posted March 21, 2010 Great job it turned out beautiful Care to share how you build that beautiful fire truck? Unfortunately, I can't make instructions for it. I may take deconstructed shots of it, at some point. Quote
ImLost Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Your final product looks great, Ricecracker. The station and van looks very realistic. My favorite is your truck- its great to see all the improvements you've made to it since your initial version. Now it is an absolute beauty. Love the saw aand mobile generator too. Quote

I have to say that the truck is my favourite too. In case anybody is wondering, the station isn't quite finished. Well, it is, but I'm not yet happy with parts of it. Quote
marvinblue Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Ricecracker, this is simply a beautiful work of art!! I love the hand tools that you've included on the Pump and the fact they all fit into the lockers and the lockers work; amazing!! I also love the turn-out pants, very good!! Although it makes the arms on the figs a little short. What school subject did this project get submitted for? At any rate, I hope you got an A++ for it!! Well done! Quote

The tools don't actually fit into the compartments, but nobody needs to know that . The subject is a quarter of my gifted tech course, called Integrated Enrichment Study. Basically, you get to do whatever you like in that class for a quarter of the year and it's out of 25% overall. Obviously, I went with LEGO . Quote

Ricecracker Posted February 23, 2011 Author Posted February 23, 2011 (edited) It's been almost a year since the last post, but I've finally gotten around to scanning this interview of me about this MOC from the fall issue of the Toronto Firewatch magazine. I figured I'd share. Click the image for a larger view. Firewatch article by Ricecracker., on Flickr Edited February 23, 2011 by Ricecracker Quote
prateek Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 (edited) That's pretty cool! You might want to blank out your school name though, and maybe your last name too. Wait, you spent $1000 on this?! Edited February 23, 2011 by prateek Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Congratulations for making it into this article Ricecracker! It sure was an informative read and shed the light on your building experience with this fantastic build. It's actually the first time I saw this (I wasn't active this time last year), and I must say this is really an impressive creation. I think the best people who really appreciated your work are the firemen personnel at the Toronto Fire Station 134, who truly vouched for the high degree of accuracy of your Lego model. Again, excellent work on this one! That's pretty cool! You might want to blank out your school name though, and maybe your last name too. But his whole name is already part of the model. I think it's just ok since this wonderful build is something to be truly proud of. Quote
Tabris Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 The fire engine looks awesome. Great job so far. Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Good on you 'ricecracker' for making it in print, it's great when those outside the Lego arena notice the work that a MOCer does. Brick On....Always ! Quote
medib Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Its an awesome looking station... my only criticism would be whats already mentioned about the scale of the rescue/pumper versus the rest of it. Congrats on getting your model being published. That's sweet. Thanks for posting about bricksnorth... I wouldnt have known about it otherwise. If it happens, I'll attend. Quote
Zorbas Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Cheers for Ricecracker! You've done a great job with the Fire Station. Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Great dimensions for this fire station! I'm writing from Europe but I really love this architecture style! I hope to see this masterpiece complete soon! Quote
bricked one Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Wow very impressive build Ricecracker, the detail is simply amazing. I still can't figure out how you made the panels on the fire truck open up, mind sharing? Keep on brickin' Ricecracker Quote
