I checked the LEGO message boards today. And, for the sake of the holy roller George Harrison, it is a mess. It is just full of gullible 9 year olds who buy whatever LEGO tells them to buy. Not to mention all they do is roleplay. I remember when I was younger and it was not as dopey!

You must be wondering "Whats the point of this topic?" Well, its sort off like a game. You go and visit the LEGO message boards, and find the funniest or dumbest topic or comment!

Some kids actually believe the Power miners movie April fools joke! There all like "OMG taht is so cool!"

Ooh, this sounds fun - preying on small children's comments and laughing behind their backs!

I love this game already!

I'll see what I can do...

EDIT: FOUND ONE ALREADY! This was posted by 242oak:

"i wud say typos get me teh most. lol"

How many mistakes can you make in one sentence?!

Important: this game may be fun, but we must not take it too far. It'd be very easy to become snide with our comments and hurtful, which we must never do.

Agreed?

I love this topic. I stopped reading the Lego.com mesasge boards years ago...they are bombarded by kids who post random stuff and there is no fluid conversation...Here are a few of my favorite tidbits...

Regarding the "RAREST STAR WARS PIECE"-

it's the gold litesaber. (It gets awarded to the chosen one, but Anakin was sith) It's not in any sets but if you get a different set ( I think LEGO Exo-Force or City) You get the gold Litesaber blade. Then use a litesaber handle.

I swear kids covet anything gold. Here's one about the 2010 sets-

Yah! I saw a new set coming out because they accidentaly put in in the newest magazine! It's a Freecos speeder and it comes with those talz or whatever the're called!

Tsk Tsk. Those careless magazine editors.

Selections from a topic called "WHO IS THE MOST EVIL BAD GUY IN INDIANA JONES?"

Well I think it would be Elsa. Indiana Jones falls in love with her and then she is all evil. I wonder what other people think. Have fun commenting!
But Elsa isn't a guy.Anyway, I think it is Hitler, because he controlled the Nazi, who were the bad guys twice, but other than that, Mutt. He ruined everything.

And lastly, a conversation in the "RAVENWOOD TAVERN"

I've noticed a Star Wars Cantina so I thought Indiana Jones should have one too. So here is the newly constructed Ravenwood Tavern. Here you can chat about Indiana Jones topics, sets, quizzes and whatever you like. You can also stop here after great adventures for a drink and something to eat. If you want the menu, just ask. Enjoy CB
For every who deosn't know thiers going to be a dule in Egypt set! Also a dog fight (plane fight) set from the holy grail movie. these set will come out in summer.
what is the menu?
Can I be a chef?
Can I become assistant manager?
*comes in* Hello. Windy very, very, Windy. *Comes And sits down next to IndyMan97* just got back from a post, in Northern Africa, Quite Cold here. went to see how it was, when I was down there. World War II Broke out, boy! was that a surprise, though I managed To fight back with a MP 40, [A German Machine Gun] and Got Back in a Plane. Well that was quite exciting, but who knows where I'm going next? who knows?

*Quiets down*

:hmpf::hmpf::hmpf::hmpf:

I don't even think I skimmed the surface.

I was fed up with those boards and started posting fake set names and got banned like 6 years ago.

But there are so many members there, they have no idea that I have like 3 accounts.

Truly, you are a god amongst trolls.

Just joshin' ya. I'm gonna go lurk and see what the small children are up to now. Be back in half a second.

The one thing other than their horrible language I hate the most, are their usernames.

Just some examples of most usernames.

ilikelego9473

agents273

legomaster23

exo-force-fan7697

etc.

These are so annoying.

The people on here that have numbers in their names are respectable, mature, kind people.

Sure, the kids are just having their fun on the LEGO message boards, but let's keep it that way. I'd prefer none of them come here.

That's like a noob gathering, them and their wild speculations and "HEY LETZ MAKE IDIAZ FOR NEW SETS SO LEGO CAN MAKE TEHM LOL" topics.

Here's a classic "... What?" moment.

Hello And welcome to the Atlantis Cafe! here you can get away from all the fighting and just have fun! On the menu we have: Calamari:5.99 Seaweed salad: 1.99 Shark on a stick:4.99 Sea Slushie:.99 I will need: 3 Waiters. 2 Chefs 1 Cashier 1 Manager 1 Person to deliver Inventory And 1 food supplier. If you are an employee feel free to make any suggestions.(Did i mention theirs a game room?

It's funny because the topic has 20+ pages of this nonsense.

"ill have a sea slsuhy plese" and "can i be a managr?//?"

It's nice to know we have such a mature environment here on Eurobricks.

However, I'm guessing we're not being mature by criticizing children. What can you expect, huh? They love LEGO, but they just don't know how to express it, other than posting random suff. That was my first forum as well, a few years back. But they still had all this nonsense there.

But, anything to please the kids who keep these guys in business, eh?

Lego.com actually makes you use these "original" names. If you type in your real name or something, there will be a message that say that the username is already taken and they will generate a list of names to choose from, like the names you gave.:sadnew:

From RAREST STAR WARS PIECE?

Mine have to be Ashoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber's because I only have 1 LEGO Star Wars set! Although I love Star Wars!

It's not really stupid, it's just that it's so funny that this kid says the lightsaber piece is rare.

From "Discuss Star Wars Facts here"

Hi everyone! since the last tpoic got locked because it was getting too long, I have made a new one. Please post your interesting facts about Star Wars. I'm sure every fact will be interesting! So post away! And remember no fighting!
I was going to get another up too! I didn't get the time though. That's a fact!

Another one, from the same topic:

Did you know that E.T.`s species was in the Galactic Senate? I think it`s in Attack of the Clones.
What are E.T.s? Does it stand for Ewok (Something)?
Ewok Terrorists.
You know, the movie E.T. It stands for Extra Terrestrial.

That one is just stupid.

And that was only the 1st page!

Posted (edited)

This looks like a fun game.

I get sick of the bad grammar and spelling there... as well as the things they call "facts" that are not true at all.

Well, I'll go and find some myself then!

From "BEST 5 LEGO THEMES OF ALL TIME AND WHY?"

1.mars mission.2 star wars well it doesn't relli count that's gorge's idea [8-).2 alpha teem.3 power mners 4lego u.5spase police

From "RAREST STAR WARS PIECE?"

The Clone Trooper 2008 Version on Clone Trooper Battle Pack. They had no Skins (they were just Black Heads),Red (Shock Troop),Normal (White) and Yellow (Commander but not Cody)

[Those are not rare!!]

hi
well my rarest piece is that special darth vader minifig I got from his tie fighter
me got jango fett helmet

[Rare piece, but bad spelling :hmpf: ]

wow! in my opinion, the rarest piece is the video camera that is in LEGOadventure set of the egyptions.
Mine have to be Ashoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber's because I only have 1 LEGO Star Wars set! Although I love Star Wars!

Now those were them. It's very annoying when you read that there...

I like how most of the posts there are one-liners. The administration there encourages this with their 600 character limit per post though, which is barely a paragraph.

Apart from that, the Lego forum isn't that different from the typical off-topic section you can find on any very active forum. I can see that they are roleplaying way too much, but that's better than the constant flaming and insulting (often from adults) that you usually see at such places, and the overall level of spam/nonsense posts is comparable.

Okay, I just remembered a funny one not to long ago! I hang my Phantoka and Mistika on the ceiling (to make them look like they fly). Then one day I'm just sitting down playing video games (the game is Banjo-Kazooie). And get this! Tahu, with Solek on his back, fell off the ceiling into my lap! I used those guys as Banjo and Kazooie once! Did they want to play or something?

Banjo-Kazooie?

This is just so much fun

i have the CW count dooko(sorry if thats spelt wrong!!).and the magna gaurds.they are cool.

Magna gaurds? really?

Mine is the cannon gauntlet arm pieces on the Super Battle Droids that come with the Clone Wars version of the AAT.

Yeah.. that aint rare

I got it with a Boba Fett star wars pen

That's right... I gave up on my LEGO.com account long ago. But I always just used some made up name, and of course, it was always taken, sadly. So, I myself had to resort on these ridiculous names. If you can even call them that.

Banjo-Kazooie?

I actually used to like that game.

Hey, I started a topic just like this a long time ago, back when I was a newer member on eurobricks. And not suprisingly, there's a topic almost exactly like this on BZP - after all, it's hard not to laugh at how silly the lego message boards really are. I've lost count of how many horror stories I've heard from members, about how good posts are continually not let through while spammy posts are. :hmpf::wink:

I remember the Lego Message boards! I used to post on there a bit. If I recall correctly the moderation was so uptight it would often take 3 days or so sometimes to get your message up (what if it was like that here? ). That and all the roleplaying games, and wishlists, plus the club pages or whatever they were called.

Oh heres a quote:

"Get him the Taj Mahal. I bet he'll have a blast. The world record for building that thing is 3 days. See if he could beat that time."

I thnk we need to remember that LEGO is a childrens toy, aimed at children. 9 year olds are their prime target market, of course their message board is going to be filled with immature kids.

I'm on the fence weather you making fun of them is ok or not.??? :sceptic:

The point I was making earlier is that a lot of big internet forums are like that, and the fact that the posters are kids is not the only (or even the main) reason for that behavior. Adults and older teens are often just as bad as those kids. Just check out any of the large forums out there like 4chan, Gamespot forums, Anandtech Off-Topic, etc.

Yes but being kids, don't they have an excuse to act that way as opposed to the some of the "adult" forums you listed?

I'm all for laughs and whatnot, but making fun of how someone types or how misinformed they are seems a bit harsh (especially when most of them aren't old enough to have germane and cogent discussion). I don't see that kind of behavior here towards other Eurobricks members, so why would it be okay for this type of conversation to be going on behind peoples' backs so to speak?

Let's not forget we were all 7 and 8 at one point, and I don't think we have any child prodigies amongst us that could keep up intelligent conversation for an extended period of time. Simply pointing and laughing never solved anything, and no matter how hard you try I highly doubt you'd be able to change the content of the posts there so it might be better just to let them be.

Posted

On the other hand though, nobody has really directly insulted these kids. Simply quoting some silly posts isn't so bad in my opinion.

If it gets out of hand, this will be closed. However, as of now it's perfectly fine I'd say.

I don't get this topic? People are so worried about all the kids from the message boards coming here and ruining Eurobricks but then think it is funny to go to a message board for kids for the sole purpose of making fun of what they say. If you think it is funny to make fun of kids playing together (no matter what you think of what passes for playing) then I think you have a lot of growing up to do. Some of us actually have kids of our own that visit those forums.:pir-angry:
