Posted January 30, 201015 yr So, now it's my turn to hop on the Western bandwagon here on EuroBricks Here is my new MOC picturing two cowboys who are driving their cattle past an old abandon shop. There are many borrowed techniques in this MOC that I like the give credit to the inventors for: The Shop sign is a moderation of the sign on the 10197 Fire Brigade by our favourite LEGO designer Jamie Berard, the vulture is from Legohaulic and his wonderful Western town and the cactus that it's sitting on is my mediocre try on gambort's design (I had too few sand green pieces), and I belive I first saw the flower steam technique in this MOC by SlyOwl. So all the cool techniques are not mine But I hope I at least combined them in a good way and that you enjoy this little scene. (some of the pics are links to versions with higher resolution) BrickShelf gallery (when moderated) Thanks for watching! /Etzel
January 30, 201015 yr There sure seems to be a Western fad spreading across Eurobricks the past days. The 'Shop' sign is great, as is the wooden plank look of the building (with dark and regular tan combined). Sand-green is great for the cactus. Really well done Etzel!
January 30, 201015 yr Great stuff! The shop is quite nice, and I do like that you haven't used stickers or any other non-LEGO elements for the sign. The best thing about this MOC though has to be that Vulture. Despite it's simplicity, it really is effective. The black hairpiece makes your vulture look just perfect! January 30, 201015 yr Great work 'Etzel' - love the desert plants - awesome ! The run down shop or general store is awesome too, especially the boarded up parts and the shop sign. I'm a conformist! 'Etzel' !
January 30, 201015 yr Looks great! I really like the cactus. The building is also very good. I hope they bring this theme back.
January 30, 201015 yr Nice vignette, Etzel You have achieved a good mix of own creativity and some borrowed technics. I thought of Gran emporium, when I saw the SHOP sign.
January 30, 201015 yr Very "westerny". You got the feeling in your MOC. I like most the vulture and the skull
January 30, 201015 yr Very nice creation, Etzel! I like the colours, they match very well together. The shop sign is amazing, although I think it's a bit too high. The vulture is very nice. Nice job!
January 30, 201015 yr Etzel this is a beautiful build! Well done on the old shop, you can feel the decay! I was planning on a cactus myself for one of my creations. The vulture is an amazing creation by Legohaulic, and I had toyed with using it too. I am very jealous of all the brown flower stems you own, they are certainly a rare commodity in the Lego world. Great job on the interior too, some real rack and ruin. Can we expect more from you? Community Western build anyone?
January 30, 201015 yr Wow this MOC is so lovely! There are so many great great details in the MOC, I won't name them all but one; the VULTURE! It is perfect!
January 30, 201015 yr Author Thanks everyone for your comments! I even got frontpaged ! First time I think Great stuff! The shop is quite nice, and I do like that you haven't used stickers or any other non-LEGO elements for the sign. Thanks, I'm not a fan of stickers and I can't print my own either so this was my only option if I wanted to have some text. And I wanted that Nice vignette, Etzel You have achieved a good mix of own creativity and some borrowed technics. I thought of Gran emporium, when I saw the SHOP sign. I had a hard time coming up with a word that could be spelled with this building technique. Saloon, Bank, Store and Sheriff was all abandon because of the tricky N, K, T and R. Maybe it's an early precursor of the Grand Emporium... Etzel this is a beautiful build! Well done on the old shop, you can feel the decay! I was planning on a cactus myself for one of my creations. Your Tombclone MOCs certainly made me get myself together and finish this one. The brown flower stems were purchased through this BL store: S087 They seem to have raised the price a little though. But it sure is a nice element to have, I wish I had more. Another Western MOC isn't too unlikely, but I haven't got anything figured out yet. The future will tell I guess. Thanks again everyone!
January 30, 201015 yr Sing along everyone... Rollin rollin rollin, my left butt cheek is swollen. I just ruptured my colon... rawhiiiiiiiiide! Great little combination of techniques to give this an authentic western feel. I liked the cactus myself. Over all, NICE ONE! ~Chris.
January 31, 201015 yr I even got frontpaged ! First time I think You're darn toot'n! It's well deserved. I love the little extras like the buzzard (although I may have seen that design somewhere before), the green cactus, the brown cactus bush, and the incorporation of the cows. Overall, a nice mid-sized Wild West scene. Looking forward to seeing more of your WW creations Etzel.
January 31, 201015 yr That's a totally awesome Western MOC, Etzel! I really it! The outside of the shop as well as the interior and even the landscape with the cactus and the brown tree look absolutely realistic! It's great to see that you included an interior, too! The most I like the cactus, the vulture and the interior of the shop. Very, very well done! Btw: It's great to see that many people being interested in Lego Western and building that many awesome Western MOCs in the last time! So hopefully TLG sees this (in addition to the petition and our report) as a clear sign that we really need a new Western theme - soon! Klaus-Dieter Edited January 31, 201015 yr by Klaus-Dieter
January 31, 201015 yr Wow, really nice MOC !!! And yes, definitely i love the Vulture !! Simple but so well done
January 31, 201015 yr It`s some kind of "wild west pestilence" as I see Don`t blame me A very nice little MOC.
February 2, 201015 yr So many cools details! I especially love your vulture that that tree technique is great!
February 2, 201015 yr There is a wild west addiction going on I see! A stunning creation Etzel! Nice details and colours! The abandoned shop is amazing, and the cactus' colour is awesome. Really good job there!
February 2, 201015 yr I love the Western buzz around here lately. The tree is actually my favorite part, it's the first "dead" tree I've seen that looks really good, the flower bases were a great touch.
February 2, 201015 yr Excellent job- good cactus and that house is well designed -but that Vulture must be the best part- so innovative!
