ImLost Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 I was going to make a white fire truck... but realized I did not have enough pieces to build it after I finished the cab. So what was orginally supposed to be a fire truck is now a flat bed. Oh well. Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Very nice flat bed 'ImLost', most fire services around the world have a flat bed truck in their fleet, mainly to collect wreckage or a like. Very well made, nice SNOT treatment to the tray top itself. I'm a conformist! 'ImLost' ! Quote
Zorbas Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Why thumbup you say? The fact that you had a specific plan in your mind but while progressing you realised that you didn't have enough bricks made you create something else is what LEGO is all about: Creativity! You didn't give it up, instead you came up with a plan B and I must say, the result ended up being very nice! I guess I see things from the positive side. Quote
RoryoCox Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Nice, it looks just as good as the fire truck. Quote
Legostein Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Hello! In the city where I live, we have indeed such flatbed fire trucks. There are a number of module containers for different mission profiles. Depending what type of container you need you just load it onto the truck and have a specialized emergency truck. Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
metalandi Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 I really like the look of those! Also, quite interesting building technique you used on the front, with the cheese pieces (the yellow lights). Quote
prateek Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Nice! I don't really understand why there is a ladder on the back, but as a semi, it looks great. I like the lights Quote
ImLost Posted January 31, 2010 Author Posted January 31, 2010 Thanks for the comments everyone. I plan to eventually turn this into a fire pumper truck. Quote
dr_spock Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Looking good. We don't have them in Canada. Those tiles look slippery, you may lose your ladder in a sharp turn during an emergency run. Quote
Kalahare Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 Looks very good! I like the front part of this truck. It is something different than the standard TLC front "mask" in most CITY sets. Do You have some idea how to utilize this flatbed truck in fire dept? Quote
rupi Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 I love the front of the truck beeing a flat bed looks strange for a fire truck, but is a great work. Quote
ImLost Posted February 10, 2010 Author Posted February 10, 2010 (edited) Thanks guys for the comments. This truck has recieved a major overhaul. First, red is now the primary color. And second... its not a flatbed anymore. Edited February 10, 2010 by ImLost Quote
Big Cam Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Very nice, If the colors where changed, you could assign this truck to work anywhere. I like it. Quote
Rick Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 I'd have turned one into an engine (taking the compartment doors from your earlier ladder), so that you'd have both and engine and a ladder. Also, the ladder turntable on your newest ladder looks a little too bulky (same problem as with Lego's 7239 set). Nevertheless, I like the cab designs. Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Another fantastic fire truck ! Awesome work you have done 'ImLost' ! You fused the best parts of 7239 with the larger truck from 7208 with a little of your own input - excellent ! I'm a conformist! 'I'mLost' ! Quote
ImLost Posted February 10, 2010 Author Posted February 10, 2010 Thanks for the comments, everyone! I'd have turned one into an engine (taking the compartment doors from your earlier ladder), so that you'd have both and engine and a ladder. Also, the ladder turntable on your newest ladder looks a little too bulky (same problem as with Lego's 7239 set). Nevertheless, I like the cab designs. That's a good suggestion Rick. Unfortunately, I only have one of those big compartments at the moment. (I borrowed the one from the previous truck for the new one!) But I plan to get another 7239 Fire Truck and, which will give me an additional compartment. Then, I can turn the new truck into an engine. Also, you are right, the turntable for the new ladder is bulkly. It's actually exactly the same as the one in the 7239 set, with some minor color changes. But the turnable will be soon be gone once the ladder truck gets converted into an engine. Quote
