Ras 74 Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 A friend of mine is getting married in two weeks. I have had no imagination of what to give her and her husband to be. So it was going to be money. But since just handing over an envelope with money is not something that is so personal, I decided to create something instead. They both know my hobby with LEGO, so why not create something in LEGO. Then it is something personal from me, and give it to them and make it a bit personal for them as well. She works in the toystore called BR here in Sweden. She loves her iPhone, and giving gifts and recieving them is the best thing she knows. She even has a room with a big desk were she keeps all her giftwrapping papers, scissors and what not can be used for giftwrapping (what a nerd ). He is a professional photographer, loves Vespa scooters and have several. Oh, and they got three cats. I thought of creating like a drawer of some kind to put the money in at first. Then came the idea of making that into two different vignettes. One to capture their work and interests and what they have around them. In the first one we can see him holding a camera and a laptop. She is holding a bag from here store, and her iPhone. In the background we see one of his Vespas and his helmet. There is a gift (that will be changed into red and yellow instead because they live in Skåne, and those are Skånes colours ). There is also one of their cats in there to representate that they are cat-people. The second one is just a scene what the wedding might be like. I know when he proposed he didn´t dropped to his knees and asked her. He was kind of just saying when they picked up the rings "Do you want to marry me?". She said "Yes". So having him on one knee is just to tease them a bit. Her wedding flowers will be in orange and magenta (I asked). Thanks LEGO for producing those colours! To make the bouquet a darkgreen paddle from the Vikingboat had to suffer a little. This is the only "cheating". Here is a picture to show you my creation: Sorry for the bluriness in the last three pictures. Not my camera, and it is a really bad one. Or just crap behind it Quote
Brick & Mortimer Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 What a cool creation! Talking about an original gift I love the way you put the husband-to-be on his knees Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Now that's CUTE and SWEET ! Very nice MOC 'Ras 74' ! Okay now thats done, back to men stuff again ! I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Dennimator Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Wow! All those details on a 8 x 16 bottom! Stunning! I will definately invite you to my wedding when that day comes. It´s a very nice drawer, did you create a "lock" on the inside to prevent the "box" from falling out/be pulled out too far? And.. are you going to... *shudder* glue it? Oh BTW, Skåne FTW! Quote
Ras 74 Posted February 2, 2010 Author Posted February 2, 2010 Thanks Guys for the nice words! I will add a few more pictures a bit later today (stupid battreys are to old). Wow! You bet I will come when that day comes! I was thinking of create a lock mostley because curious persons would not be able to open it. But I scrapped that idea. The drawer is pretty sluggish which worked very good so it don´t just "falls out". Right You guys live down in SKÅNE! Quote
Big Cam Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 What a great original gift, you should put it in glass so it never gets dusty. Quote
Izzy Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Just to quote a few others this really is a very sweet and cute gift, very thoughtful of you to make this about them. Your friends probably don't know how lucky they are to get soooo many cool pieces in one MOC. You have done a really great job of separating the two sides of their lives I think, and have used some great ideas like the 1x1 tile for the iPhone and the (cut) cheese slope (did you sniff it first?) for the ring box. Very nice touches indeed! I really like the kneeling part too, but you are very mean to tease them in such a way. I hope they enjoy the gift presentation as much as what you will be putting in the drawer. Now like lightningtiger said... "back to men stuff" quickly build something something something Star Wars you nerd, before the orange and magenta flowers get to you. Quote
Selander Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Nice work Ras. Got to love that man on his knees, asking her to marry him - just great. Quote

He said the recycled paddle stalk of the flower is the only modified piece. Quote

I'm sure your friends will be very happy to receive such a personal gift. lincolnwho, if you have had it for years it's probably from a Beville set. It can also be found in newer sets like Winter Toy Shop and Fire Brigade. Quote

Izzy Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Cut? It´s not cut. He said the recycled paddle stalk of the flower is the only modified piece. It was merely a joke Denni... a reference to Ras' last title "Likes to sniff cut cheese slopes" Hahaha! Quote

It is not that it is a very hard build and can easily be rebuilt it I ever want´s to. I took the picture direct from BrickForge site (made it smaller and moved the logo, hope that is ok). Quote
